Chapter 700 – The Stargate Has Opened (II)
Chapter 700 – The Stargate Has Opened (II)
“So now the Stargate Council and Sky City originally thought that Pei’er would die immediately after the outbreak of the Black Tide in the Masterless Land?”
“Yes.” Kismet smiled, “But they probably didn’t think that the person who was supposed to be the first to be sacrificed had survived by mistake under your influence. That was probably fate playing a joke on them as well.”
Kismet actually even knew the inside story that Pei’er had been influenced by herself to survive?
Then did he also know about his origins and information about the Illusory World?
He asked tentatively, “How do you know that Pei’er isn’t dead?”
Kismet guessed almost immediately what Saul was jealous of, and he once again rubbed his chest and saluted.
“Please don’t worry. I am not in a position to spy on your actions. The reason why I realized that the wind demon is not dead is solely because ……” he shook the half sheet of black pages in his hand, “I can sense that the wind demon’s connection with you has not been severed.”
“It was you who rewrote Wind Demon’s certain death ending, and I think it probably has something to do with your special identity. After all, you are a magical existence that allowed the diary to be directly out of my control.”
“Is it because I used to be a being in the form of a thread of fate before I came to this world?” Thor pondered darkly, now that the information about his past seemed to have lifted the veiled fog.
However, the complexity and mystery within it did not make the doubts in Sol’s heart diminish by an ounce.
“Kismet, do you …… know about my past?”
The other shook his head, “I’d like to know, but my instincts tell me not to think about something so far away before traveling to the stars.”
“Intuition …… is this your ability, or is it something the diary gives you?”
However Kismet didn’t seem to want to discuss this, he turned his head and changed the subject in a raw manner.
“The wind demon is not dead, now it’s the turn of the Stargate Council to have a headache.”
Kismet still had secrets.
But as long as the other party stopped playing tricks on the matter of helping him advance to the fourth rank, Saul had no intention of probing into the hidden secrets that others were unwilling to reveal.
He naturally picked up, ”Pei’er was being utilized and had both the Black Tide and Stargate connected to her body. Originally, this connection would have quickly dissipated due to Pei’er’s death. But now, she is not dead. Even though she is no longer in the state of a normal sorcerer, because she is still alive, the connection between the Black Tide and the Stargate has not been severed!”
Kismet heard Sol’s speculation and licked his lips with a smile, his eyes glowing with excitement.
“Yes, a good show is coming up.”
Saul, however, was not excited at all, thinking of what Camus had said when he had stopped him.
“Behind the Stargate, are there more dangerous monsters? Will this world, therefore, be destroyed?”
“The world definitely won’t be destroyed, but with the stargate already open, it’s not certain what will happen to the people in this world.”
Saul was a little uneasy.
The current wizard world was somewhat powerless against the Black Tide, not to mention adding the contamination of the stars.
He came to the round table again and saw Byron and his party transporting the motionless Brando and Corey towards the wizard’s tower.
Something was obviously wrong with those two.
Saul had noticed the abnormality of the two when he went to find Kismet at that time, and seeing that their lives were not in danger and they were only immobilized by some kind of sorcery, he did not rush over.
He continued to say to Kismet, “We need to sever this connection. Do you have any other way besides killing Pelle?”
The option of killing Pei’er no longer needed to be considered.
Even if Saul was willing to sacrifice her in order to sever the connection, he simply couldn’t find anyone right now.
People were still struggling to repair themselves in the Phantom World, and they couldn’t even pick up the pieces.
Kismet wasn’t worried at all, ”You don’t have to worry so much. The wizards of this wizard world aren’t that incompetent. Just leave this matter to the Stargate Council and the Court of Judgment!”
Saul drifted off, “Heh, that’s what you’re saying, they don’t have the time and energy to trouble me in three years?”
Kismet smiled wryly, “Yes, as long as they aren’t allowed to be idle, naturally they won’t have time to meddle. And I’m pretty good at giving people trouble.”
He then took his leave of Sol, “Lovely brother master, I have to go now. After all, a task like helping you advance to the fourth rank is not something that can be accomplished just by talking about it. It seems like I still won’t be able to rest properly for the next few years.”
Before leaving, he remembered another thing.
“Oh, right. This is for you.” Kismet pulled two long, thin, golden “straws” from his palm.
With a shake of his hand, the “straws” unfolded and turned into two golden pages, which quickly turned into fine glitter and disappeared. At the same time, Saul sensed that there were two more golden pages in the diary.
“Previously, I never gave you these two golden pages because I didn’t want you to be too deeply influenced by the diary. But now that you have complete control over the diary and don’t need to worry about becoming its sustenance, I naturally feel relieved to give you the remaining pages.”
Looking at the empty palm, Kismet was in a trance for a moment, but he soon broke into a smile again.
“From now on, if you ever want to weave new pages of fate, it will be up to you.”
Kismet raised his arms high in the air and stretched.
“It’s quite a lot of work to do one thing for hundreds of years.” With that, he slowly walked over to the edge of the round platform, and with a single leap, jumped off.
Accompanied by a few lonely strings, Kismet’s figure rose and fell a few times and disappeared into the plains.
……
At the same time, the council personnel, who had already dropped the object codenamed “anchor point” across the stargate, were waiting nervously for the otherworldly information transmitted back from the anchor point.
However, the several sorcerers who were responsible for observing the status of the stargate were getting more and more nervous.
Finally, one of them stood up and bypassed the various people and debris on the observatory and went directly to the inverted pyramid building above to look for the Speaker of the Stargate Council.
After passing through the many barriers, the wizard practically jogged all the way to Stargate Speaker Alik.
“Lord Speaker, there has been an incident with the experiment, and the Stargate is not currently closing as planned.”
Alik sat on a bench, facing the sky all the time because the direction of the room’s gravity had been reversed by ninety degrees.
Standing just to the side of the Speaker, Meric turned back at the words, his monocular-like eyes quickly adjusting their focus.
“The Speaker has noticed.” Meric was rapidly turning over the scroll in his hand, while several feather quills hovered around him, uncontrolled but rapidly writing.
“The problem at the moment is that the coordinates the council used to locate the stargate established a connection with the wind demon, who is now missing but not dead, so the connection has not been severed and the stargate has been left with a gap for now. Perhaps in an hour the gap will close automatically, but it is also possible that an accident will occur and it will no longer close.”
Meric said apologetically to Alric, “I am very sorry, Speaker, I did not expect Wind Demon Pelle to survive the double contamination.”
Alik waved his hand, “If the experiment would have all gone according to our established design, it wouldn’t be called an experiment.”
Alik didn’t get up and his voice was calm, “No one can guarantee what kind of results the experiment will get. But the fact that the stargate isn’t completely closed isn’t entirely a bad thing.”
Everyone was quiet as they waited for Alik’s instructions.
“We can begin the second phase of the test.” Alik said, his tone faintly thunderous, “Activate anchor points and feed back information.”
The others were still in shock, and a smile was already plastered on the face of the first assistant, Meric.
“Yes, Speaker.” He began to look down again and take quick notes, “It’s a good thing the stargate isn’t completely closed. No more worrying about the clarity of the signal.”
At that moment, Alik spoke again.
“If the stargate had stayed closed and the signal coming back was less than level three dangerous ……”
The crowd followed, looking up, some uneasy, some expectant.
“…… Then send someone, for a pinch observation.”
The sorcerer who came over to deliver the message only felt his legs go weak as he trembled and asked, “Speaker, isn’t there a need to convene a council of members? Would it be too fast of a progress to directly carry out the crevice observation?”
Meric was an absolute supporter of the Stargate Speaker, and when he saw someone object, his eyes instantly focused on the other’s face.
However, Alic was not angry and only calmly explained, “Only when conducting a traversal experiment is it necessary to convene a members’ council. This is the resolution that was set before the Stargate experiment began. As for the progress …… we need to be as prepared as possible. You won’t know which will come first, tomorrow or the Black Tide.”
That concludes this volume.
Saul is promoted to the third level and a corner of his past is revealed.
Golen’s diary will gradually take the shape of Saul’s.
After nearly falling victim to the eye of the wind, Saul will also change.
