Chapter 448 – Robbery 2

Chapter 448 – Robbery 2
The dwarf’s words caused a wave of nervousness.

Since the departure from the Blood Bull Tribe, they had only encountered a few canines and sables, and when they saw the large number of people, they immediately ran away without a trace, and they had not really encountered any large predators.

The cold weather couldn’t stop the cold sweat from seeping out of Matthew’s palms.

He tightened his grip on the fire-rope rifle in his hand.

He cheered himself up and said, “Haha, dwarf, you’re joking. At this time of the year, large animals haven’t woken up from hibernation yet, right? We haven’t seen any fierce beasts along the way from the Far North to the Blood Bull Tribe either.”

“Haven’t seen any?” The dwarf turned to give him a meaningful look, “You’re lucky then.”

As he was speaking, another sound of birds fluttering their wings came from the distance.

These idiots, can’t they keep the commotion down? The dwarf mentally cursed the orcs.

“Light the fire rope! Be able to fire at any time.”

Stanford shouted to Matthew and a few other musketeers.

The men pulled out their fire scythes and banged them up.

Imar the Dwarf was puzzled, “What are you doing? Taking fire to scare the beasts?”

Then snickers, “Hahaha, that’s one way to do it.”

He pointed ahead and said, “We will soon be entering the mountains.”

Sure enough, everyone felt that the terrain along the way began to slowly rise, the trees began to thin out, and the view opened up.

“We’re about to climb Rocky Mountain here?”

Stanford got a little excited and couldn’t stop gawking at the scenery around them. They were probably the first people from the Northwest Gulf to visit the mountain in the last couple hundred years, albeit from the north.

“Sort of! It’s a road up the mountain, but there are several more hills to go over before you reach the main part of it.”

The dwarf sat down on his butt.

“I say humans, I think we should give the party a rest and some dry food, it’s still a tiring climb later.”

“Alright! I also think it’s time to rest. Matthew, inform the brothers to rest for a while and replenish their strength.”

“Yes, Captain!”

The dwarf plopped up his legs and pulled out a water bottle and poured it into his mouth furiously for a while. Then both eyes gazed at the dense forest in the north, as if waiting for something.

He caught a glimpse of Stenvor beside him pulling out a cylindrical object, thick at one end and thin at the other, with crystal lenses set into the ends.

The human held the thin end of the cylinder against his eyes, the thick end facing forward.

Curiosity flooded the dwarf’s mind once again.

Stanford turned the telescope in a circle around him. Just as he turned the tube toward the dense forest in the direction from which he had come, however, he suddenly blanched.

“Alert! Someone is approaching us!”

The captain’s words were like a thunderbolt, and the members of the exploration team who were resting stood up and pulled out their respective weapons to look around warily.

Stanford pointed towards the higher ground to the south and ordered loudly, “There, let’s go behind that dirt slope and make a good defense.”

Imar frowned and said, “You shouldn’t make such a fuss, maybe it’s just passing travelers.” Mentally, he muttered, “Hell, do humans have such good eyesight?”

“In other places it would be just as well, but I remember you saying that orcs don’t go into the mountains, I clearly saw a lot of orcs probing there, they must be uneasy.” Stanford pointed to the dense forest in the direction he came from.

“Ah …… ah …… also right.” Imar responded with a twinkle.

“Go! Come with us to get ready, you can’t afford to be a guide.” “Hey hey!”

Without further ado, Stanford took Imar’s hand and yanked the dwarf behind the dirt slope.

The place he had picked was located within a long, shallow depression above the mountain, and they were able to completely conceal their bodies by lying on their backs on the north side of the depression’s liri slopes; the small dirt slope on the north side of the depression acted as a natural low wall to give them a good defense and a good view of the area from above.

The members of the team were either crouching or lying on their backs on the sloping side of the alcove, with only their heads and necks exposed when viewed from below the mountain.

……

“Oh! Damn! They’ve picked up our trail.”

Gunther, the son of the chief of the Blood Bull Tribe, who was hidden in the dense forest, slapped his head.

“I told you to keep your movements down.”

He kicked hard at an orc beside him, causing the other to grimace in pain.

“Oh..! They stopped, hahaha, humans, you’re killing yourselves! It’s a bit early, but it’s okay to take care of you here, and the way home is closer. Warriors, grab your weapons and charge up to tear them apart! Don’t leave a single one alive.”

Gunther threw his casserole-sized fist in a vicious swing, brandishing a large, spike-laden club, and crossed out of the dense forest ahead of the others, charging toward his target.

“One …… two …… three ……”

Stanford held up his binoculars and silently counted the number of uninvited guests. In the end, 50 orcs rushed out of the dense forest.

From their stance, he had no doubt that this group of long-haired guys came with malice.

The group of orcs stopped a hundred meters away from them, and then one of them continued forward, walking roughly 50 meters away from them and shouting, “Put down all of your belongings, including your weapons, and we will let you go.”

Stanford understood the words, and he gave the other guy the middle finger from a distance and yelled, “Fuck you!”

The human’s reply enraged Gunther that such a thin and numerically disadvantaged human would dare provoke him.

Without further hesitation, he waved his big stick and led his warriors towards the hillside to charge.

“You will pay for your folly!”

He yelled as he ran, aiming for the human with more than a middle finger.

Imar the Dwarf calmly slumped to the ground, intending to strike after the humans and orcs had mingled. Showing his hand now could get him taken out by the humans.

The orc burst to within a hundred meters of the human.

Imar only heard a sudden roar ringing in his ears, and what happened immediately after the roar was that the orc at the front of the charge flopped and planted himself on the ground, then rolled down the hill on the terrain.

Before his head had time to think about why that orc would fall, he had never heard this kind of sound before, he subconsciously turned his head to look for the source of the sound, however, all he could see was the lingering smoke.

Then a second sound rang out, and this time the dwarf finally saw clearly that the sound was coming from the long artifact the human was carrying, specifically, what appeared to be a long iron pipe set into a wooden butt.

Accompanying the sound was a violent jet of flame from the mouth of the iron pipe, followed by a large outpouring of smoke.

As well as another orc warrior planted, life or death unknown.

The orc casualties were definitely caused by that thing, and the dwarf’s mind instantly made the connection between them.

But how on earth did …… it do that?
Imar had always been very confident in his eyesight and reaction time, he was even able to deflect all the stones his cousin threw with all his might with a small round shield.

But he didn’t see even a single crossbow bolt or anything else shot at the orcs from the human side.

This bunch of humans, what exactly were they from?
