Chapter 431 – Gabriela’s Attitude
Chapter 431 – Gabella’s Attitude
“If there’s nothing else, let’s disperse for today.”
After a morning meeting, everyone’s stomachs were rumbling, and Pope Harrington II intended to end the meeting.
“Your Majesty, I want to accuse you of something.”
He was about to get up when a man ventured in.
Harrington II looked and saw that it was Bishop Walsh, who, in addition to his ecclesiastical capacity, was also in charge of the policing of the royal capital.
The reason why Walsh was able to intrude without notice was that this was the Pope’s private apartment, and Walsh and Harrington II had a good personal relationship, and the servants and guards were very familiar with him, and secondly, he was one of the scheduled participants in this meeting, and he was just late for something.
“What has happened to warrant such a fuss.”
Harrington II was curious, at this time Walsh is not at all like a respected bishop, but rather like a gladiator in the gladiatorial arena.
“Everyone here, I apologize for coming so late. But your majesty, you must control the heretical lunatics of the Mingei. “
The crowd’s hearts were instantly open, it was probably the Minglii Council making trouble again, no wonder Walsh, who was in charge of policing the royal capital, was tripped up.
Walsh didn’t even sit down, he stood beside the table and said to everyone, “Yesterday they stirred up trouble again, and it was also in the vicinity of the ambassadors’ quarters, the face of the holy capital was all disgraced by them.”
Walsh slapped the table vigorously as he spoke, obviously very angry, if not for the fact that all the people here were acquaintances, a charge of disrespect would not be able to escape, and the guards could have dragged him out on the spot.
“Don’t be hasty, speak slowly.”
Harrington II ordered his servant to serve Bishop Walsh a cup of tea, the bishop sat down and slowly recounted what happened yesterday.
“In the end, I even let a Gabella’s envoy go over to persuade him, a true disgrace.”
Walsh said with a pained face, “If this continues, in the eyes of those outsiders, the Holy Capital of Light will be reduced to a gathering place for barbarians.”
He took a look at Tulls, the head of the Inquisition and said, “The Illuminati should all go to hell for these heretics who speculate on the truth of creation.”
Tulls grimaced as he heard Walsh’s accusation against him.
What could I do? His Holiness had always tried to maintain an enlightened image, and as long as it wasn’t a direct dismissal of what was in the Canon of Light, he could tolerate it.
Sure enough, His Holiness the Pope waved his hand towards Walsh and said, “Be careful how you use the term ‘heresy’, I don’t want the Holy Capital to become as chaotic as Horned Bay.”
“Do you still think that the current Holy Capital is in order ……”
“Ahem …… Of course, it’s not a good idea to let them continue to act so arbitrarily. Tuls!”
“Your Holiness.” The Director of the Inquisition stood up.
“Take the time to talk to a few of the leaders of the Council of the Ming, and warn them that reasonable debate is fine, but waving your fists and creating conflict is definitely not within our tolerance.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
Harrington II turned to Walsh again, “For the people who caused trouble yesterday, arrest those who should be arrested and sentence those who should be sentenced, definitely don’t be soft, but just treat it as an ordinary law and order case.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.” Bishop Walsh was somewhat bereft.
“By the way, which country’s envoy did you just say?”
The bishop replied, “Gabella, specifically it was actually the entourage of Gabella’s envoy.”
“Gabella, ah.”
Harrington II narrowed his eyes, “Aldrich, the great scholar of the Maester’s Tower, my meeting with him is scheduled for this afternoon.”
……
Aldrich came into the audience hall with a gentle stride on his wooden staff, while he was followed by a nervous Mond and Kevin.
He crossed the doors, and inside, his master was already waiting for him in full regalia.
Harrington II was seated atop the main seat, and to his right and left, in turn, sat various important members of the Privy Council.
“Welcome, guest from afar, Master Aldrich of the Maester’s Tower.”
Aldrich gave a salute.
“It is a great honor that I – Davide Aldrich – am able to represent Emperor Gabella and the millions of believers in an audience with you – the Heavenly Father’s most High Representative and most loyal servant – His Majesty Harrington II.”
The Pope smiled and extended his right hand in gesture.
“Please be seated, Maestro, and I hope you have brought what I want.”
Aldrich sat down while Mond and Kevin stood behind him.
He carefully pulled a letter out of his pocket and said, “This was ordered to you by my Emperor himself, everything you wanted is inside.”
The attendant immediately ran over and took it with both hands, and came quickly to Harrington II to hand it to him. The Pope opened the envelope, unfolded the letter-paper, and looked at it carefully; he read it very carefully, and seemed to be trying to fathom, word by word, the meaning which it was intended to convey.
Kevin stood behind Aldrich and braced himself to observe the Pope.
Harrington II was gray-haired but well-maintained, with just a few creases on his face and a long white beard trailing down his chin.
His eyes, though somewhat clouded like those of other old men of his age, were filled with an ineffable kindness that seemed to make one trust him unreservedly just by meeting his gaze.
This was the Pope of the Church of Light, a great man who only existed in legends before, but he had appeared in front of himself just like this.
Although he had already done several times of heart building before the audience, but when it really came to this moment, Kevin’s heart still couldn’t stop pounding, and he saw that Harrington II was a great man.
He saw that Harrington II’s slightly furrowed brows gradually unfolded when he opened the envelope, it looked like the content on the letter paper made him very satisfied.
The Pope looked up at Aldrich and said, “I am very grateful to His Majesty the Emperor for his support.”
Aldrich smiled and nodded, “Gabella has always been a strong supporter of the Holy See, there is no doubt about that.”
“Then, Master Aldrich.”
The Pope carefully put away the letter paper, “If your country has no objections, I will announce the contents of this letter to the neighboring powers, what do you think?”
Aldrich said without hesitation, “Of course, since we have already made our position clear, there is no point in hiding it.”
The Pope laughed, “Well said, I won’t hide it from you, His Majesty Rodney of the Kingdom of Aldo has also stated his position in favor of the Holy See.”
Aldrich nodded, “Everyone recognizes that the Holy See under your leadership is the authority of the Church of Light, those heretics that jumped out of nowhere halfway through the process are not enough to worry about.”
“Haha!”
Harrington II didn’t pick up on his words, but said, “Master Aldrich, we have prepared a sumptuous dinner for you at the Golden Dome Sanctuary, please do stay.”
“With honor!”
Aldrich immediately stood up to express his gratitude.
After the dinner began, Harrington II suddenly asked Aldrich a question, “Forgive me for asking, has His Majesty the Emperor’s successor been chosen yet?”
The Grand Tutor of the Bachelor’s Tower frowned, as if he felt that the other party’s question was a bit abrupt.
He quickly organized his words and answered slowly and methodically, “His Majesty is in the prime of his life and is not in a hurry to arrange for his own afterlife; he still has a long time to examine his children in detail.”
“True enough, I envy his youth, unlike me who is already old.”
The Pope stroked his white beard and said with incomparable emotion.
Aldrich hurriedly said, “Your spirit is incomparable to the flesh …… Uh, who is this? May I be introduced?”
He asked about the young man beside the Pope.
“Anthony, is our youngest Cardinal Priest here.”
Harrington II introduced with a smile.
Anthony immediately stood up and stood up to greet Aldrich.
“Anthony?” Aldrich smiled, “Young man, your name gives me a very intimate feeling.”
“Priest Anthony has just returned from the Horn as an emissary.”
Bishop Bloom, who was dining together, continued the introduction in a somewhat proud tone.
“To hold such an important status as a messenger of the Holy See at such a young age, you have a great future ahead of you.”
Aldrich’s smile grew thicker, “So, young man, you’ve seen with your own eyes what Horned Bay is like now? Tell me, what do you think of the current situation in Horned Bay?”
“Honorable Master Aldrich.”
Anthony replied with a smile, “There are no problems, even if there are some unsuspecting people, but I’ll tell you this – everything is under our control.”
The churchmen present all smiled, theirs all believed that as long as the Holy See personally stepped down and showed their power, both opposing sides of Horn Bay would bow down and do as they were told, the previous attitude of centering and conciliating was done too much apparently making some people misunderstand what was going on.
“All under control? Haha.”
Aldrich raised the glass holding the juice, “Let’s pray that Horned Bay will soon restore order with the help of the Holy See! Cheers!”
“Cheers!”
“Cheers!”
