Chapter 622: Where is he?

Chapter 622: Where is he?

Saul repacked the little girl and hung her on his back, then opened the door to explore a bit; the hallway was empty.

He scurried out of the room his figure immediately transformed into a shadow and rushed forward.

Before he found the little girl’s room, he had passed by the corridor leading to the tower. It was only the movement of the little girl that attracted him, which was why Saul chose to enter the third floor.

This gorgeous manor was also heavily decorated. Flashy furniture was especially abundant.

For example, the corridor that Saul was currently running through had one small hollowed out table made of black iron standing in the center.

These small tables could at most hold a pocket-sized fruit plate on top.

And now all of the small tables were empty, and apart from playing a decorative role, they could only hinder Saul’s running route.

Saul just ran to the end of the corridor, heard a few hurried footsteps around the corner, and hurriedly stood against the wall, his entire figure blurred, almost blending with the champagne-colored wallpaper.

However, the footsteps approached and moved away.

Saul, however, saw not a single figure.

But the sound of the wind driven through the corridor, and it seemed that a group of people were really hurrying past.

“Could the pursuers be stealthy as well?”

Saul couldn’t help but probe his head to look at the place where the footsteps disappeared, and vaguely, he seemed to see a distant crowd.

No longer made of clay, crude portraits, but real people.

But in truth, he didn’t actually see anything.

Only an empty corridor and the ornate decorations in it.

Returning to his senses, Saul shouldered the cocooned little girl and turned to ascend the steps to the tower.

……

“Are you sure the thief hasn’t left the manor?” Lucy stood in the cluttered room with her arms folded over her chest.

But through observation, she realized that it was most likely not the thief who had caused the messy state of affairs, but rather these attendants who had rushed to find their lady.

“I’m pretty sure that there’s no way he could have left the manor!” The two identical-looking housekeepers said with serious faces.

After the housekeepers shouted out enemy attack in the banquet hall, Lucy and Redbeard came forward at the same time and said that they were willing to help retrieve their lady.

After discussing the matter, several second-ranked wizards decided to split up, just so they could use this to check every corner of the manor for the existence of the eye of the wind.

This manor is not big, six people split up but ten minutes to turn the place over in detail.

However, the unexpected result appeared, not only did they not find any traces of the eye of the wind, even the thief who stole the lady of the manor was not found.

To such a result, the housekeeper was obviously not satisfied, the expression of the two people became more and more serious, two pairs of eyes so gloomy that they seemed to be dripping water.

If it was usual, every wizard present would not care about these two people’s emotions.

But now that they were in the old manor and had temporarily lost all their powers, they were like a few ordinary people.

In this situation, they might not be a match for these two bizarre housekeepers, and there was a high chance that they would die under the rules with the bonus of pollution from the Lordless Land.

Unless they could find a way to break out of the old manor.

Lucy looked out at the dim view from the balcony.

“How long have we been here already? The sky seems to have stayed the same without changing a bit.”

She poked her hand out, but touched a wall of air less than half a meter away.

She turned back to Redbeard and the others, who were studying a small patch of blood on the floor in the room, and said, “A boundary exists about half a meter outside the balcony, and we can’t break through it with our current power.”

Brando didn’t move closer but stood behind the group, “This manor is completely closed, that’s why those two butlers said it’s impossible for a thief to escape from here.”

Durut tapped the ground impatiently with his cane.

“But we’ve already turned over the entire manor and we haven’t found any thieves at all.”

Lucy pondered, “Could it be that there was no thief at all, that it was all an act by those two housekeepers, or that the madam sneaked off on her own?”

Kismet had been crouching next to the puddle of red blood and had been staring at it with interest. It was as if there was actually an interesting painting there.

He looked up, smiling at the others, “Who do you think the thief was?”

The remaining few people looked at each other, a person’s likeness floating in their minds at the same time, but very silently no one said his name.

Saul!

Redbeard frowned, inwardly not liking the answer that was most likely the truth.

On the one hand, he hoped to break the secrets of the Old Day Manor as soon as possible, find the eye of the wind, and seal the eye of the wind. Based on this mentality, he was hoping that Saul would be the thief and break through the rules of the Old Day Manor as soon as possible.

However, when he thought about how Saul was “invited” by himself and others, he was worried that the other party would not take advantage of the opportunity to take revenge.

At this moment, he hoped that the thief was actually a blue-haired wizard.

But the other party was driven out and there was no news at all.

At that time, the blue-haired more or less tried to go upstairs with a hint of temptation, but he didn’t expect that after just one insistence, the other party would simply kick the person out of the manor.

If it was someone else who had been driven out, it would have been absolutely vicious, but Red Beard had worked with Blue Hair for many years and had confidence in his strength.

But having confidence that the other party was alive didn’t mean thinking that Blue Hair still had the strength left to steal the mistress of this place away.

Brando was instead happy that Saul had made a breakthrough, and he was sure that Saul wouldn’t take away the mistress of this place for no reason.

However, the butler was present, so it was not good for them to say something straight, so Brando just asked, “What do you think the thief was trying to do by stealing the lady of the manor?”

Lucy suddenly remembers something, turns around and asks one of the housekeepers, “Is there any secret room or secret passage here that only your ladies can enter?”

The two housekeepers shook their heads in unison, “No. This manor does not have any secret rooms or tunnels, nor are there any places that only your lady can enter. All the places that Madam can enter, we can enter.”

“All accessible?” Lucy was a little puzzled.

If all places were accessible, then there would be no dead ends in their search just now.

Where exactly was the thief?

At that moment, the dryad sorcerer, who had been standing in the doorway and never spoke, turned and left the room.

And Redbeard and Lucy were still talking about where Saul might be.

Kismet suddenly lost interest in the blood stains on the floor.

“He never showed up to begin with, so maybe he’s not even in the same place as us.” He spread his hands and said to the rest of the group, “There’s no point in acting collectively anymore, let’s just spread out and find a way to break the ice.”

The suggestion of collective action was made by Lucy.

She thought that if the eye of the wind was found, it would require gathering the strength of the people to seal it.

But these second-order wizards would obviously not be as obedient as the wizards of the Stargate Council.

Lucy looked at Kismet, who had a relaxed and easygoing face as if he had really come to a banquet, suppressed her inner dislike and nodded her head, “Alright then, let’s move individually first and find a breakthrough point. It can’t always be the status quo.”

Just then, a black shadow suddenly rushed out from outside the balcony, heading straight for Lucy.

And although Lucy sensed the movement behind her, she couldn’t dodge in time because her body’s power was confined.

“Bang!”

At the critical moment, Brando swung out a fist, directly knocking the black shadow that had sneaked up on Lucy into the wall.

“Pop!”

The mass of black shadow was like mud, glued to the wall in a radial pattern.

At the same time, Red Beard picked up the chair beside him and thrust it fiercely into the wall, pressing the black shadow that was originally going to break free from the wall to death on it.

“Not good, not good!”

The two butlers stood side by side, their faces expressionless and their voices without the slightest rise or fall.

“If we can’t find madam again, the manor’s boundary won’t be able to stop the demons outside!”
