Chapter 588 – A New Way of Thinking About Picking Up Corpses

Chapter 588: A New Way of Thinking About Picking Up Bodies
After Saul explained his future tasks to Noah, he became a shirker.

He left the little boy in the hands of Agu as well as the other consciousnesses to learn, while he himself left the Wizard Tower once more.

This time when he left, he took with him Herman, who had been soul-armed and his speed had returned to its peak.

Because this time he had a new way of thinking about picking up corpses.

Through the body that had been stripped from Brando, Saul had completed a trial run of the magic storage pool.

The entire spell array was running smoothly and could already produce pure magic, it was just a bit less efficient and less productive.

If one wanted to increase the output, one would need to put a large amount of items rich in magic power into the magic storage pool. For example, magic crystals, such as sorcery materials, or even some powerful sorcery props.

Saul had these things, but they were very insufficient.

And if he wanted to increase the conversion rate of magic power, he would need more corpses of first-rank wizards and above.

And picking up corpses was able to solve both of the above problems at the same time.

It used to be difficult to pick up corpses in the Lordless Land, and lately, even more so when no one went out to adventure.

However, Saul realized that the Hunter Patrol squad that Noah used to be in was a good target for picking up corpses.

First of all they acted independently, plus they went to pretty dangerous areas.

Even though the wizards in the squad would hide out and let the commoners take their chances, who was to say what the safe distance from a dangerous area actually was?
Not to mention, they were from the Wind Demon.

The wind demon had sent people to test Saul several times, and later killed Justin, who had already confessed to Saul. This made Saul feel more and more powerful danger.

Even though the other party hadn’t moved again recently, Saul wouldn’t relax on this.

Therefore, Saul didn’t mind picking up the corpses of the hunting patrol under the wind demon.

He didn’t even mind taking the initiative to create a bit of it himself.

Saul chased after the group of hunting patrols in the direction that they had left two days ago, and purposely bypassed some hidden mental power markers in the middle of the way.

The Wind Demon’s hunting patrol team had a mission and had to expend the lives of ordinary people to detect it, so they must not have traveled too fast.

Saul chased after a day, not far from a relatively dangerous abandoned manor saw the leader of the Brown Wizard.

This abandoned manor Saul had also come to see.

It was said to be the place where an alienated sorcerer died. Later on, someone tried to occupy the manor’s location and cast a spell to clean up the remnants of the dilapidated building.

As a result, a few months later, when other people passed by and came back to check it out, they found that it had reverted back to the original abandoned manor.

Even the collapsed walls and the scratches on the walls were exactly the same.

From then on, this manor had a new name – Old Day Manor.

Saul didn’t encounter anything unusual when he entered this manor, but when he tried to destroy the rooms here, he received a death warning from his diary.

So he understood that this place should not be messed with for the time being.

But this manor didn’t seem to object to other people visiting inside.

Saul closed his magic power fluctuations and spiritual power fluctuations, hid behind the messy bushes on the outskirts of the manor, and looked at the group of people inside from a distance.

Sorcerer Brown as well as the other four apprentices stood expressionlessly outside the manor gate.

However, from their eyes that looked at the door from time to time, it could already be seen that a few people had waited for some time and were more or less impatient.

At this time, there were also four ordinary people inside this team.

And Noah had once told Saul that when they set out, there were a full twenty-four ordinary people in the group.

But in a month, it was surprising that so many people had already died.

Saul was watching the movements of the few wizards through the bronze columns in front of the manor house and the glass windows on the wall in order to prevent the others from noticing his watchful eyes.

Just as he shifted his gaze towards the windows once again, he realized that there were no more figures on the glass.

Saul’s eyes narrowed and he did not act rashly, only confirming once again that both his mental and magical powers were completely blocked before slowly shifting his sight to the front door.

But strangely enough, Brown and several other wizards and four ordinary people were still standing at the entrance, without even changing a single movement.

Sol furrowed his brows and carefully turned his line of sight to the window again.

However there was still no one in the window.

“What the hell went wrong?”

Did the windows of the abandoned manor suddenly lose their ability to reflect?

Or was that hunting patrol …… simply not over there?

Saul hid in place for a while longer. This time he didn’t care about being exposed and directly observed the group of people standing in front of the manor’s gate.

These people were not standing still.

They also shifted their weight, scratching their hair and whatnot.

But as time went on, Saul realized that none of these men ever moved their feet, even though they also swung.

“Sure enough, there’s something wrong with these people!”

Saul raised his hand to Brown.

From his fingertips suddenly flew a silver butterfly the size of a grain of rice.

This butterfly first stayed on a nearby leaf for a moment, then fluttered towards Brown.

After approaching the group, the butterfly didn’t land on anyone’s shoulder, but flew around them in a circle before returning to Saul.

“Brother Saul, you guessed right, those people, oh no, they are no longer human. I think there may have been a bit of a change in your plan to pick up the bodies.”

Saul reached out with his index finger and dragged Penny up from the bushes.

When he revealed himself and exposed his magic power fluctuation, the few people standing in front of the abandoned manor didn’t look back to check.

It was determined that the people in front of them were out of order.

And the problem wasn’t small.

He even wondered if they were all dead.

Saul walked over slowly, keeping an eye on the diary for movement.

When he got all the way to Wizard Brown, the diary didn’t suggest that his life was in danger.

So, Saul finally noticed something unusual in a few of the Browns.

When Saul stood and looked from a distance, he didn’t notice anything wrong with the man.

But when he got closer, he realized that there was something strange about these people.

They were slightly less pixelated and didn’t look as clear as the real thing.

Saul squinted his eyes for a closer look, only to realize that the men were actually made up of millions of tiny little squares!
The squares that made up their bodies also appeared more blurry as they moved.

Saul kicked up a small stone.

The stone hit Brown, who immediately crumbled to the ground.

“The rules have changed.” Saul thought silently.

Not all rule changes in all places are as gentle as the Rhine Lake.

In most cases, it meant that human lives needed to be piled up again to break the new rules.

The Brown wizard in front of him was at least a First Order wizard. Perhaps coming all the way from the test was too smooth – the deaths were only ordinary people anyway – and made them let their guard down.

Suddenly, Saul felt a chill rush through his heart.

He jumped backward, moving back ten meters in an instant.

The next moment!
“Bang!”

The gate of the old manor suddenly made a loud bang, as if someone inside had slammed heavily on it!

The gate was shaken outwards by the impact, only to merely open a small crack and bounce back because of the several layers of locks in the center.

Saul, who had been staring at the gate, saw a dark shadow behind it at that very instant.

Just that the slit that the door opened was too small, and Saul didn’t see what exactly was behind the door.

“Brother Saul, there is a very, very strong resentment coming from behind the door.” Penny’s voice also became serious.

Saul nodded, the diary spread out in his mind the moment the door was just slammed open.

[Sol Calendar 319, May 27th.
There’s a day when an abandoned manor can be brought back to its splendor…
The shadows of terror are but an invitation from the hosts.

As you approach, they’ll warmly pull you in.

Remember to bring your gifts.

Like the fresh life of a First Order wizard?
