Chapter 558: I’ll be right there.
Chapter 558 – In A Moment
Saul followed the group of blindfolded men until they came deep into the mountain forest.
After seven turns, a sorcerer apprentice appeared ahead.
He went up and checked the state of the seven people before leading them into a cave.
Inside the cave were two sorcerers who saw the people and directed them to stand into a small, half-meter high mound.
Saul stood just outside the cave, his form hidden behind the rocks.
His spiritual power was much higher than anyone inside, and they couldn’t detect Saul’s presence at all.
But the guarding spell formation at the entrance of the cave also prevented Saul from entering directly for the time being.
Saul probed and looked, the legs of the seven blindfolded men inside had already been buried into the earth, and the other wizards were all far away from them.
After a few minutes, a pained look appeared on the face of one of the blindfolded men, and gradually the others also twisted in pain.
But after only a few tens of seconds, the pain on the faces of the seven men all disappeared again, and their expressions became numb again.
Saul’s eyes followed their faces, gradually shifting to their soil-covered legs.
“The ants are in the soil …… They are trying to let these ants enter their bodies to tear and leave behind the ant acid, and then extract the needed substances from the ordinary people’s bodies to make read spirit candles.”
“They’re not being very stealthy in extracting the ant acid here. That is to say, the step of extraction is not important, what’s really important is how they extracted the non-toxic ant acid from ordinary people’s bodies for a second time and made candles that can activate the brain domain.”
The secret of the secondary extraction was definitely in the hands of the Great Witch.
Saul wasn’t prepared to risk snatching it either.
He wasn’t at the point where he needed drugs to activate his brain to learn.
The ones who really needed the Spirit Reading Candle were often those wizards and apprentices who had been stuck at a certain level, hadn’t advanced for a long time, and had begun to suffer from the backlash of their knowledge.
It was thought that most of the sorcerers in the General Court he went to today were in this situation.
At this time, the wizards inside talked softly.
“Why are there so few ants today?”
“It’s probably because they haven’t been too hungry lately.”
“Come on. Doesn’t the Great Wizard only let us build seven meat nests at a time so that the ants don’t move too much food at once?”
The conversational voices quickly lowered again.
Sol didn’t get any more information and simply left the place.
“Could it be that the old hag still really recognized the bowback termites as quicksand termites? Although her brain doesn’t work too well, her eyesight shouldn’t be a problem.” Saul was somewhat helpless.
If there were no quicksand termites here, not to mention that he had made a trip for nothing, he had temporarily lost all other clues to the quicksand termites.
If he really couldn’t find Quicksand Termites, he could only think of ways to find some alternatives.
It was just that these substitutes were either dangerous or even rarer, and were very difficult to get hold of.
Saul walked to the ancient forest, pondering whether his next step would be to continue searching in the neighborhood, or to go straight back.
Suddenly, his coat pocket vibrated.
Saul put his hand into his coat pocket and immediately frowned tightly.
He felt the candle that Kismet had put in.
Also felt a piece of paper!
Saul confirmed that he definitely did not put the paper in his coat pocket.
He drew out his hand and pinched the piece of paper between his fingertips.
There was a sentence written on the piece of paper.
“I have the golden pages here. House number four in row four.”
“This guy!” Saul took a deep breath, Kismet definitely did it on purpose.
The importance of a golden book page was self-evident, even if Kismet was going to pull any tricks, Saul was going to pick it up.
He walked quickly outside and soon reached the edge of the woods.
Yet here he met the boy again.
The other was hiding behind a tree, looking hesitantly in the direction of the settlement.
“If you go back, you and your father are both dead.”
The boy was startled by Saul’s voice.
It was a relief to turn around and see it was him. “My lord, I have no desire to go back. I’m just relieved that my father and brother …… are gone this time, and I may never see them again. And, and I entered this settlement with my father when I was very young and have never left, so I don’t know where to go.”
Saul raised his hand and pointed in a direction, “Go that way, and in two days you’ll come across another settlement. Of course that could just be another cage.”
Saul wondered how these commoners got into the land of no man.
Maybe it was just that the wizards here needed some commoners to take on the most basic of labor.
“My lord, may I know your name?” The boy’s eyes were filled with emotion.
But Saul ignored him.
Crossing over to the boy and out of the forest, Saul re-entered the settlement before dark.
Old Man Flowerpot recognizes Saul.
Not many wizards could get Kismet to be an introducer, after all.
He let Saul in straight away.
Instead of asking Old Man Flowerpot for directions, Saul found a random commoner within the settlement.
These people took one look at Saul’s clothes and enthusiastically showed him the way, and even wanted to personally send him there, but Saul refused.
Soon he arrived at room number four in row four.
The door to this place opened at the push of a button, looking as if a careless owner had just left.
The room was small, and Saul entered and saw the note pinned to the opposite wall.
There were only four words written on it:
Be right there.
Saul’s expression changed and he immediately turned around to leave.
But just as he stepped out of the room with one foot, he heard a scream from the street.
Then, the dusk overhead suddenly changed color.
Saul stepped out into the street and tilted his head to see a huge green arching barrier appear above the settlement’s walls.
Some wizards with quick reflexes rushed straight up into the sky using flight spells.
But before he could get close, a green smoke violently erupted from the barrier. It sprayed straight onto the sorcerer’s face.
The latter quickly flew back to the ground with a miserable scream.
Before the crowd could react, another loud bang came.
The sound was so loud that the echo could be heard even in this green shield.
Sol flew straight to the roof, and only then did he see that the Bonanza Court, which he had just visited, had collapsed with a loud bang!
“What happened over at the Bonanza Court?”
This was almost everyone’s question.
There were a few sorcerers who immediately flew low, dodging the green barrier above their heads while quickly rushing towards the Bonanza Court.
But Sol’s first reaction was to immediately run towards the gate.
He already knew what “right away” meant.
Kismet was actually trying to create a golden book page here!
But the cause of a golden book page is very complicated, can a small settlement give birth to a golden book page?
While thinking, Saul ran.
Although the enemy hadn’t appeared yet, Saul believed in Kismet’s ability to make things happen.
At that moment, a buzzing sound suddenly appeared behind him.
The sound was not loud, but it spread throughout the entire settlement.
Saul turned around and saw a huge white ant in mid-air. Behind it were two pairs of wings, which were flapping rapidly, leaving only shadows.
The ant was at least five meters in length, and its huge mouthparts could make people feel the cold light on them even if they were far apart, as if it would cut itself off in the next second.
Taking a closer look, there was even a person sitting on top of the ant!
A darker-skinned man was sitting at the joint at the back of the termite’s head, holding something in his hand.
Saul squinted his eyes and gradually saw details in the distance.
What the man was holding was actually the head of Dolly, the pot-bellied woman that Saul had seen earlier!
