Chapter 517 – Mushroom Soup

Chapter 517 Mushroom Soup

Ochili doesn’t seem to think that Saul is good at witch body modification, and talking to him is probably just a case of being locked up for so long that he’s already suffocating.

Saul wasn’t in a hurry to prove himself either.

Anyway, the more dangerous moments like this, the more the diary could supercharge its warning abilities.

Right? Diary buddy?

“How long have you guys been locked up? Has anyone left in the meantime?”

Ochili was really holding back his madness, and though he looked uninspired, he wasn’t delayed in the least in picking up the conversation.

“I’ve been locked up here for three years. I’ve never seen one leave in one piece, I’ve seen a lot of them broken into pieces, or tens of thousands of pieces.”

It seemed that those who were imprisoned here didn’t end well, but this Ouchili was able to last three years in this environment, so he thought that he had his own set of cards.

Saul decided to take a good look at how this Ouchli survived in the next few hours.

Of course, Saul’s aim was not just survival. It was just that he now kept one thing in mind: in the Masterless Land, before acting, one should understand the local rules.

Saul had now shown part of his bottom card, and thought that the old witch would at least leave him some time to confirm that he was useful.

Saul faced Ochili and made a curious baby face, “If we can help the old hag complete her perfectly gifted witch body transformation, do you think she’ll let us go?”

Ochli finally bothered to raise his eyes to look at Saul this time.

“The perfect gift? You’re right, if the transformation can be completed, then it’s a perfect gift. But do you think it’s possible?”

“Perfection can’t be done, but one must always try to tend to perfection. Otherwise, are we just waiting to die here? The opponent is a second-order wizard, and unless any of us can, for a short time, advance in this environment, it will be simple for the old witch to kill us.”

Saul acted positively as he reached out and grabbed the railing in front of him, attempting to output his magic.

Only after half a day’s effort, the output of magic power could only ignite a small flame.

He tried to break the railing again, but the seemingly fragile wooden railing was made of some unknown material, and it didn’t move at all.

Saul continued to try to shock his mental power to soften and deform his skin, but at most, he could only manage to make his skin slightly transparent, and anything more would be suppressed by the cage, forcibly stabilizing his mental body.

He let go and said to Ochili, “What a powerful cage, I’ve never seen this kind of material before.”

“There are too many materials you haven’t seen before. Looking at you, you should be less than thirty years old. Young sorcerers nowadays, once they hear that the Masterless Land is filled with rare materials, they don’t weigh their strength and dare to dive in headfirst.”

Seeing that Saul made a flurry of attempts, but only worked for nothing, Ouchli’s mouth hung a sneer. However, when he thought of his own situation, that smile became bitter again.

“Your Excellency Ouchili, with your vast knowledge and experience, is there no other way to escape from here?”

“No.” This time Ochili answered quickly, then he lay back down laboriously, “You don’t need to waste your efforts, the old hag won’t let you off easily just because of your one-sided argument. Better think about how to survive tomorrow’s test first.”

Seeing that Ochili was unwilling to communicate any further, Saul went to look at the others, only to find that the others were either motionless and unresponsive, or they seemed to not understand Saul’s words at all.

For example, that barbarian.

Saul closed his eyes and pretended to rest, communicating with several conscious bodies in his mind.

The lights were dim, and the crowd couldn’t tell the passage of time.

The door to the room opened again and the old hag came in pushing a cart.

Saul felt that almost three hours had passed, based on the changes in his body and the degree of recovery of his mental body.

“It’s time to eat. Really, I have to cook for you guys. But you remember to thank the new guy who added mushrooms to your meal!”

The old hag gave each person, except the barbarians, a bowl of soup with a few white mushrooms floating on top.

The soup bowls were small enough to fit right through the gap in the railing.

Thor was the last to get the bowl of soup. When he hesitantly picked up the bowl, everyone else had already taken a big gulp.

The soup was clear with a little splash of oil and two thumb-sized mushrooms floating on top. When Saul looked at the mushrooms, he immediately realized that the two white mushrooms resembled those on Chevron Marsh’s head.

This made him wonder once again if the old witch had really planted the Chevron in the ground. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much he could do about it now. But the mushroom on Marsh’s head and him were in a symbiotic state. As long as the old witch hadn’t killed Marsh in the first place, then in order to get more mushrooms, she shouldn’t kill him again either.

The mushrooms looked like ordinary mushrooms, but this soup shouldn’t be ordinary.

Saul squinted his eyes and looked, the originally transparent soup instantly turned dark green, with some small yellow bubbles mixed in.

It looked weird and oozing.

It wasn’t known whether it was poisonous or not.

Seeing that Saul hadn’t been drinking the soup, the old hag tapped the railing with her finger.

“Dang!”

“Drink it if you don’t want to die, or I’ll dissect you now.”

Agu: [This drug is called Fletcher’s Love Thickness, a low-cost life-supporting potion. The person who invented this potion in the first place did it to confine lovers who wanted to escape. Those who drink this soup will lose their sense of direction.”]

Saul skimmed his lips and saw that the old witch’s eyes had narrowed, so he hastily tilted his head and poured the Love Thick Soup into his stomach.

Seeing Saul drink the thick soup cleanly, the old hag then snorted coldly and took away the empty bowl.

The others likewise failed to leave their bowls behind; the old hag would not let them put any of their belongings into the cage.

Ochili finished his soup and gave Saul another look, “From now on, you just really won’t be able to walk out again.”

He seemed disappointed that Saul had been so well-behaved, and when he finished, he laid down with his back to Saul.

And this time, Saul didn’t take the initiative to strike up a conversation with Ochili, but kept his mouth tightly shut.

Because the two mushrooms that he had just dunked into his mouth were dancing on his tongue.

After dancing for a while, the mushrooms seemed to have gotten tired of dancing and automatically slid down Saul’s throat.

Saul lowered his head and covered his face, recalling the picture the mushrooms had just drawn on his tongue.

It seemed to be “I’m fine, two.”

“What does two …… mean?” Saul wiped his face and reared his head.

“Ho!”

He realized with a start that the old hag had returned at some point and was pressing her face against the gap in the railing, staring at him for who knows how long.

“Drunk and dizzy? Oh, it’s like that the first time, it’ll be fine if you drink a few more times in the future.”

Upon hearing this, Saul immediately understood that those who drank love gumbo for the first time were afraid that they would get dizzy because they lost their sense of direction.

Yet he didn’t feel anything at all.

Regardless of why for now, Saul once again opened the show.

He recalled his old, half-drunken state, and looked at the old hag in a muddled way, and didn’t say a word.

The old hag smiled instead, her fingers reaching into the cage and dragging Thor out.

Sol then lazily followed the old hag.

“Where am I …… going?” He wasn’t sure if he was supposed to react any other way, but he just slowed down and didn’t dare show too much.

The old hag smiled, “To my lab. If you behave yourself, you’ll have a chance to come back.”
