Chapter 516: Prison Sentences
Chapter 516: The Disaster of Jail
Those who are useful can still have the chance to be locked up.
Those who were useless could only become material to be dismembered.
“What kind of people, for you, are useful people?” Saul looked straight at the old hag and asked calmly.
“Heh, looking quite smart.” The old hag withdrew her hand, “I want to create the most perfect body. It is to have the beauty of an elf, the resilience of a giant, the strength of a dwarf, the adaptability of a barbarian, and of course, most importantly, the elemental magic adaptability of a genius.”
The old witch looked at Saul as if she was looking at a piece of meat on a plate, carefully weighing which piece was fat and which was thin.
“I’m going to succeed soon. By then, I’ll be the most gifted witch. What kind of dream maker, firefly master, and what kind of wind demon are all just my companions.”
Claude had once told Saul that there were currently no fourth-order sorcerers in the Lordless Land. The three strongest recognized third-order wizards were Clark the Dream Maker, Herbert the Firefly Lord, and Pei’er the Wind Demon.
Saul drifted off, “I hear you. You need an assistant who can help with research experiments.”
The old witch did not deny it.
Sol smiled humbly, “As it happens, I would be better at researching witch body transformation formulas.”
“Hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo ……,” the old witch laughed so hard that her pinkies bounced one by one at the back of her head.
“A first-order witch, how dare you say you’re good at it, are all young people nowadays so arrogant? Do you think that the transformation formula I need is to add an eye and change the blood like a sorcerer’s apprentice?”
“No.” It’s always better to speak with evidence, Saul raised his hand, his fingertips gradually becoming transparent, “I’ve also performed two witch body transformations, so I naturally understand that transformation isn’t just as simple as changing some body tissues for myself.”
The old witch’s eyes were locked onto Saul’s fingers, watching as his skin, as well as the muscles, blood vessels, and other tissues underneath, turned a little bit into a transparent off-white color, revealing the white bone in the very center.
“The transformation has to involve multiple tissues of the human body, and there are many other subsequent issues that need to be considered such as allergies, immunity, self-repair, and magical-spiritual fluency. What sometimes appears to be a conflict between sorcerous materials may be at its essence the inability of the tiniest body tissues to survive in the transformation environment.”
Listening to Saul speak and watching the changes in his fingers, the old witch’s original disdainful look faded and her eyes narrowed slightly. She pursed her lips, but the corners of her blood-red mouth slowly rose.
“It’s a bit interesting. I’ll ask you a question, and if your answer satisfies me, at least you won’t have to die until I finish my transformation experiment.”
“Go ahead.”
“How do you stop your body from aging? How do you extend the lifespan of the body’s tiny tissues?”
Saul lowered his eyes, forcing himself not to look at the old hag’s wrinkled face.
After a few moments of thought, he gave his answer, “Surface aging of the body is due to shrinkage of the tiny tissues, unlike when they are full at new birth. Intrinsic aging is the slowing down of tiny tissue newborns. So you can start from two aspects, one is to replenish, and the other is to accelerate the speed of tiny tissue splitting.”
Saul deliberately left a hidden danger here.
It was just a test, there was no need for him to be so complete. And by leaving a hidden danger for the old hag, he might be leaving himself alive.
The old hag suddenly reached into the cage and grabbed Saul’s arm, her fingertips slowly contracting, her sharp nails leaving several bloody marks on Saul’s slightly translucent skin.
Red blood flowed from the wounds, interspersed with insignificant gray particles.
The old witch withdrew her hand and put her fingertips into her mouth and licked them in turn, leaving a few streaks of crimson on the tip of her dark purple tongue.
“Heh heh heh …… hah hah hah hah ……” She shook her shoulders and laughed, even as the folds of her face trembled together.
After laughing for what could be a minute, the old hag suddenly turned her head sideways and said to a man in a wooden cage next door to Saul, “Ochili, I’ve found someone who can replace you, so be careful~”
Saul followed suit and looked over.
To his left, in the same type of cage four or five meters apart, a person was lying horizontally with his back to them.
Because of the limited size of the cage, that person had to make his head and knees shrink in front of his chest as he lay down.
Hearing the old hag’s words, that person just moved his butt and did not respond.
The old witch did not get angry, grabbed the wooden bars of the cage and stood up a little bit. “Well, I’m going to go check on my little baby. I’ll see you again tomorrow. In the meantime you can think about my question. I don’t want a few seemingly correct aphorisms.”
The old hag turned and headed for the front door.
Saul leaned closer to the railing, “Old hag, my carter ……”
“At the moment, he is of more practical use than you. Consider how to keep yourself alive first.”
The old hag pushed her way out.
Saul noticed that the room beyond the door was also dim.
Saul seemed to be the only one still awake in the room now. The other figures in the cages were either sitting curled up or lying curled up.
It looked like they had been locked up for a long time.
There should be a confinement-type sorcery spell formation on the cage, and while sitting here, Saul’s magic power and spirit power fluctuations were forcefully suppressed to an extremely low value range.
There was no way to open the cage for the time being, and Saul turned to survey the room.
This room was covered with rough stone tiles up and down, left and right, front and back. The entire house was irregularly shaped, and the floor was even a polygon.
The lighting in the room was a plant with oval-shaped buds, and it looked wilted and dying.
Several wooden cages were fixed around the glowing plant, either far or near.
The one Saul was in was the furthest away, with the wall behind it.
Upon closer inspection, there were people in five other cages besides Saul.
Three of them were of a rather unusual size.
In the cage facing Saul sat a giant.
Saul’s cage was a little over a meter tall, while the other’s was closer to two meters. But even so, the giant’s scalp was resting on the cage as he sat curled up.
It looked unusually uncomfortable.
Next to the giant was another contrasting dwarf, who, by rough estimation, was probably less than a meter tall.
This was followed by a man with the upper half of his body lying on the ground and his legs curled up on the wall to Sol’s left against the wall.
Seeing the black lines on his body, Saul judged that the other party should be a barbarian, and it was a spell-casting character like a barbarian priest.
To Sol’s left was the man known as Ochili. Ochili’s left hand side should also be a full-fledged sorcerer, just that his breath looked weaker.
Perhaps it was because he felt Saul’s gawking, or because the old witch had already left. Ochili, who had just been curled up on the ground, crawled up a little and changed to a sitting position.
He didn’t look young anymore, his temples were all gray, and there were many large spots on his skin.
“I hope you are really good at sorcerous body modification.” Ochili lowered his head and looked at his toes, “The previous two people who falsely claimed to be good at Witch Body Transformation have now been turned into witchcraft materials that can’t move or talk.”
It was good to have someone willing to communicate.
Saul, relying on his not-so-tall stature, nimbly turned around in the cage, “Did the old witch capture us back just to help her with her witch body modification experiments?”
“Of course not.” Ochili still didn’t look at Saul and said listlessly with his head bowed, “Outsider, the Land of the Unknown has a lot of sorcery materials that are not found elsewhere, but here, witches are likewise a material.”
