Chapter 488 Simultaneous warnings
Chapter 488 – Simultaneous Warning
“Ugh? Surprisingly, you were kicked out instead of being pulled out by me?” The little butterfly fluttered its wings, “No wonder I was just thrown out so far!”
Saul rubbed his chin and described the dream he had just had in general.
“The dream I just had seems to be divided into two layers. One layer was a dream where I would be attacked, and the other layer was an inverted city where there was no one else but myself. And when I burned the branches off my feet, I was kicked out of the second dream by some force.”
“That means that the first dream was aggressive, but it’s not clear what happened to the second. If we go by your behavior of kicking you out of the dream as soon as you noticed the abnormality, the second dream was fairly peaceful.” Agu also helped Sol analyze it.
“Oooooh.” Anne was a bit of an anomaly, she just hugged Sol’s arm and cried.
“It’s still uncertain if the strange dream I just encountered was me experiencing contamination or if someone is attacking me.” Saul tried to pull his arm out of Ann’s arms, but failed.
He had to pause his analysis and look sideways at Ann.
Because she was using the body of a dead person, Ann’s crying was devoid of tears, but it was clear from the look in the other woman’s eyes that she was truly grieving.
“Ann, why have you become so emotional?” Saul probed his mental body into Ann’s consciousness to check if she was also tainted.
But no, Ann’s conscious body was still clean, only appearing a bit unstable due to her mood swings.
“I just feel like I didn’t protect you.”
Now, both Agu and Morton realized Ann’s abnormality.
Ann was different from the other few consciousness bodies in that she was actually a soul fragment patchwork body with a new self. But as a result, her situation might not be as stable as the other consciousness bodies, and the probability of accidents was greater.
Despite the fact that there were no problems in the initial check, Saul decided to let Ann return to her diary first.
Regardless of whether or not Ann’s soul had any problems or had been contaminated, as long as she returned to the diary, everything could be restored to factory values.
An beamed, a little reluctant, ”Master, now that you have just encountered danger, I’d better stay outside to protect you. Who knows if the dream just now, is it foreshadowing something?”
Saul thought that returning to the diary and then finding time to pull someone out, although it was a bit more laborious and consumed magic power and spiritual power, it was safer to do so, and could protect Anne as well as checking for any abnormal elements in her.
But Ann was reluctant.
At this time, Agu said, “Then let her stay outside. If we go back to the diary, we’ll have to remove the spider’s foot and press it back in, which is tedious and time-consuming.”
Thor looked to Agu and saw the latter staring back firmly, which made him agree to his suggestion.
Meanwhile, a black vine-like tentacle came in through the gate and came to Saul’s side, cracking its mouth and picking up a pen, writing a single word on a piece of paper, “Yi.”
“Is there a reaction from Izzy’s side?”
This was the agreement between Saul and Komoro, allowing Komoro to send out a doppelganger to follow Izzy, and to immediately have Komoro come back to report if there was another sign of an evil spirit on Izzy’s side.
Although Saul and Shia Witch and the others had agreed to follow the clues that Shia Witch had found, Saul also wanted to strike at the same time on his own side so as not to get a conclusion that was too one-sided.
“I was just having strange dreams on my side, and Izzy had a problem on the other side. Is there a connection between the two?” Saul pondered, “If in the dream, I was attacked, who was the attacker?”
“I just came back from Shia’s side and was attacked, could it be that the content of our agreement was leaked?”
If they had just planned to secretly track down the Scorched Corpse Evil Spirit and the Kent Witch, and this matter was known by others, then Saul would have to think about whether or not the operation should continue.
The others were still discussing what Saul had seen in the dream world when the transmitter in one corner of the room suddenly rang.
Saul picked up the transmitter, and the voice of Wizard Shia came from inside.
“…… My lead moved, get to the clinic on Fifth Avenue as soon as you can.”
Saul gripped the transmitter, his fingers tightened, and made a split second decision, “I’m doing a critical experiment over here, I need to go over there a little later.”
“Uh? You’re not trying to escape, are you?” “Or are you coming over to watch me experiment?” Saul said with deliberate nonchalance.
“That won’t be necessary, well, how soon can you finish? If it’s too late, I’ll start with Whitehair.”
Saul knew that Shia didn’t want to mention Julie’s name directly in the transmitter. But who wouldn’t know it was her if you said “White Hair”?
“Half an hour.”
The opposite side sighed in relief, “Half an hour should be fine, we’ll go over there first, and if the location changes, we’ll leave a marker at the clinic entrance.”
Shia took the lead and turned off the transmitter.
Thor turned back to the few people in the room, “Agu, you continue to try to assemble for a second soul arming. Morton, you’re coming with me to Izzy’s.”
He finally looked to Ann, “Ann, you stay in the room to cooperate with Agu, and keep an eye out for any abnormalities that appear.”
Little Algae and Penny naturally followed Saul.
Especially Penny, who flew directly into the diary.
The dream Saul had just had made her a little uneasy, and she had to hide in Saul’s mental body to avoid losing contact again.
Several people split up, and Saul and Morton separate halfway through, ready to observe the evil spirits appearing around her from different angles.
Izzy, who was being watched by Saul, didn’t realize what was happening to her.
Her roommate had recently disappeared and the Vigilantes had simply come by to check the room and take away all of her roommate’s belongings.
And Izzy, being the missing person’s roommate and the last person to see her, was surprised to be released after only half an hour of questioning.
After that, it was as if Izzy’s life was back on track, with no more visits from the police force. Even the landlord had listed the rental next door in the agency center again. There wasn’t much talk of missing persons around, and everyone seemed to quickly forget about a strange neighbor.
Everything went on in an orderly fashion, but it gave Izzy at the center of the incident a heart attack.
“Why can everyone’s reaction be so bland, if not indifferent?”
It reminded Izzy of some of the rumors he had heard before joining the Archester.
Some people said that being too close to wizards made it easy to encounter dangerous and bizarre things. Ordinary people should just live in ordinary people’s cities or villages. Don’t presume to be close enough to a sorcerer to be them. You’ll only attract the attention of demons.
But it was basically the village elders who said these things. The other young people, on the other hand, yearn for the city life depicted in the storybooks.
Plus the occasional person who returned from Archaeust exaggerated about how convenient it was for them to live in the city and how much money they earned. Most of them desperately wished to enter the city of Archaust as well.
And once inside the city, Izzy realized that everyone’s portrayal of Archaust was not wrong, but it was one-sided. They uncharacteristically glossed over the less-than-stellar aspects of their lives.
The long hours of tedious and monotonous work, the regular to stereotypical routine, were all depressing.
Add to that the recent disappearance of his roommate, and for the first time, Izzy is determined to return home.
This morning, Izzy had used his once-a-month leave of absence to go to City Hall and apply for a separation as well as to leave town and return home.
But she didn’t realize that it would be easy to leave her job and get approved in three days, but she would have to wait three months to leave the city and return home.
The clerk’s statement was that “in order to investigate Izzy’s record of information within the city, Izzy could not seal the information and leave the city if she had arrears or other outstanding matters.”
In other words, to prevent Izzy from fleeing the city because he left some kind of trouble for the archaeologist.
