Chapter 487 – The Inverted City

Chapter 487 The Inverted City

Saul finally realized what he was confined to.

He had felt like there was someone hiding in the sheets piled up in his hands on the floor when he had ripped them off earlier only to find nothing on the bed.

But he hadn’t realized that it was himself hidden there.

Then the next ……

Saul had seen through the white sheets a black shadow wrapping around himself, about to tighten.

“Penny!” Saul called out again.

“Saul …… brother ……”

Penny’s voice still seemed as far away as the heavens, but when Saul heard the other’s voice, it disappeared the moment the black hideous tentacles tore through the sheets.

When he opened his eyes again, he saw that he was still lying on the bed. Underneath him were flat sheets and a moderately soft mattress.

He immediately jumped off the bed, but there was no movement in the entire bed.

Saul could still recall the feeling of his heart racing just a moment ago.

“Was I just dreaming?” He covered his chest, “At first I remembered that I was a sorcerer, but I seemed to have forgotten that when I was transferred under the sheets. Whether it was struggling underwater, being blindfolded by the sheet, or cowering in the sheet as a whole, it never occurred to me to use sorcery to solve the problem.”

“I can’t believe I forgot all the means of self-preservation except calling out to Penny.”

Saul blushed slightly.

He didn’t know if this dream of his meant something or if it had been tampered with.

Then he suddenly felt a little too quiet around him.

He looked up and saw that the room was empty and he was alone. And he felt vaguely uncomfortable himself, but couldn’t tell where.

“No, this is still a dream world!” Saul immediately ran his mental power, trying to wake himself up.

But he immediately realized that his spiritual power and magic power could operate freely, but there was no way to wake up from the dream world.

Saul tried a few more times and remained where he was.

“It seems that this dream is not simple. Am I being attacked by someone else?”

The diary in his head was still there.

Saul breathed a sigh of relief.

Even if he had his dreams manipulated by the others, the other party definitely couldn’t forge a diary.

Saul let the diary unfold in front of him and flipped to the page of the only Herman still in it.

[Master? Is something wrong?”]

Through the diary, Herman sees the outside world, but he immediately realizes that something is wrong.

[Master! Master! You, you ……]

“What did you find wrong?” Saul knew that Herman, who was in the diary, was afraid that he had seen something, and immediately pursued the question.

[Master, you, why are you upside down?]

“Hiss ……” Saul sucked in a breath of cold air, and goose bumps instantly rose all over his body.

In the moment he was reminded by Herman, Saul finally understood why he felt uncomfortable.

It was because his entire body was upside down!
Nope!

Saul looked around.

It wasn’t just him, his house was upside down too.

It was because he had no problem seeing all around him that made him delay in realizing that he was upside down.

Saul took two steps and immediately felt that gravity was off as well. There was also something wrong with the friction feeling of his clothes.

It seemed like something was helping him maintain his upside-down state.

“Penny!” Saul continued to call out to Penny, suspecting that Penny’s voice was so distant before because the other man hadn’t entered this strange dream world.

“Brother Saul.” Penny’s voice was still distant, but it was finally not as vague as it was just now.

He just seemed to have broken through a layer of obstruction.

Saul saw no one else in the room, and at the same time wondered why his room had turned upside down. He slowly walked over to the window and looked out.

Below the building, it was pitch black.

As Saul looked down into the darkness, something seemed to be growing and weaving in the silence.

Saul poked the upper half of his body out of the window, holding the frame with one hand, and cautiously looked up.

Above his head, what should have been the sky was now an earth burning with pale flames.

The gravity above the earth seemed normal. The flames rose upwards. The land was dry and cracked, not an inch of grass grew, and only the pale flames were burning relying on an unknown fuel.

At the junction of the white flames and the earth, occasional charred remnants could be seen.

That should be the burnt out remains. It was no longer possible to see what the wreckage originally looked like.

“Sure enough, my senses weren’t wrong, I’m now upside down, or rather being hung upside down.”

Realizing this, Saul used his Flight Technique to get himself airborne, then holding onto the window, he flew out of the tall building.

Once he left his original room, he saw the world more clearly.

The entire city was upside down, and below the buildings as far as the eye could see, Saul vaguely saw the branches and vines of some plants climbing to the bottom of the buildings.

The original streets were gone, and all the buildings were built – no, I should say hung upside down bound by branches.

Saul squinted his eyes and looked at the soles of his feet, and sure enough, he saw some tiny curly new shoots on the uppers of his shoes as well.

Compared to the huge rough branches on the buildings, the ones under Saul’s feet looked fresh and lovely, pale with a newborn light green color.

Saul freed one hand and the Bead of Secondary Flame appeared in his palm, then shot to the soles of Saul’s feet again in the blink of an eye.

As the flames grazed the soles of his shoes, the newborn shoots instantly became dry and twisted, and then gradually charred and crumbled.

When the branches entangled in the soles of his feet were scorched, the eerie upward pulling sensation instantly disappeared, and gravity resumed its main theme.

The suddenly restored gravity caused Saul, who was running a flight technique, to plummet towards the ground in a split second. If it wasn’t for the fact that one of his hands was still pulling on the window, I’m afraid that Saul would have to experience some free fall.

At that moment, Saul only felt that his body was hit by something, and then his eyes blinked, and the upside-down city, the burning earth above his head, and the huge plants all disappeared.

When he opened his eyes again, he saw several faces.

A silver-colored butterfly, as if it was made of metal, struggled to get out from between the gaps of several faces.

“Great brother Saul, you’re finally awake.”

Penny was about to land on Saul’s face when another grabbed it.

“Master, ooohhhh, are you alright?” Anne, with a pale dead face, jumped onto Saul’s chest at once.

Consciousness bodies had been walking outside of the diary, using the corpses of the Witch Tower as their containers. Because the container was a dead thing, they were not as comfortable in controlling the body as normal people.

In particular, there were rarely various expressions on their faces.

But this time, Ann was teary-eyed, and ignoring her abnormal skin color, she lived up to the appearance of an ordinary teenage girl.

Saul sat up holding onto Ann’s leaning shoulder and realized that he was still lying on the bed.

He turned his mental power around, and found that things around him were clear, and the fluctuations emanating from several bodies of consciousness were stable.

This time it was finally out of the dream.

With the Nightmare Butterfly around, how could anyone lay their hands on his dreams?

If someone had moved on the dream this time, then I’m afraid that the person behind it was not simple.

Saul’s face was serious as he stood up and carefully examined his body without any injuries.

He looked up at the three people in the room, “In your opinion, what just happened?”

It was still Agu who spoke.

Although he wasn’t the strongest in life, his vast knowledge coupled with the most stable soul made him vaguely the boss of the four.

“Master, just after you fell asleep, the magic power fluctuations in your body suddenly became smaller, almost to the point of being imperceptible. The Nightmare Butterfly immediately realized that you might have been attacked in your dreams. But when it tried to enter your dream, it was unable to get in.”

The silver butterfly landed on the ends of Sol’s hair and added to Agu’s words, “To be precise, I didn’t find you in your dream. But relying on the great diary, there is still a vague link between you and I. That is why I was able to hear your voice and call out to you over and over again. After that, I’ve been trying to pull you out of your dreams, and I’ve just finally succeeded!”

But upon hearing this, Saul shook his head, “But based on what I just experienced, I should have been kicked out of the dream.”
