Chapter 481.
Chapter 481 Stains
Izzy squeezed along with the flow of people into the apartment where she lived.
There were so many people who wanted to use the elevator pod that Izzy looked ahead at the dense crowd and decided to take the stairs with the other part of the crowd.
After shunting through the various floors, by the time Izzy climbed to the 17th floor where she lived, there was no one else around.
Entering the 17th floor, Izzy was just in time to see the door to the lift pod open and two people squeeze out.
She recognized them instantly as the husband and wife who lived next door.
“Good evening.” Izzy braced herself for a smile and greeted the other.
The person across from her just nodded faintly, her face full of exhaustion.
Izzy knew the couple from before, having lived in the town next to theirs, and the people were welcoming. Soon after entering the town though, they were bound by a steel cage and the smile on their faces faded.
Izzy returned to his rented room and had just closed the door when the smile on his face couldn’t hold on any longer.
“Whew, so tired.” Izzy’s hand skillfully pressed somewhere on the wall, and the room immediately lit up.
The mysterious witchcraft facility that had once caused Izzy to fuss a year ago no longer moved.
Izzy shrugged his shoulders and bowed his head, stomping off both shoes and heading for his bedroom.
The modest suite was one she shared with another girl. The two had met through the agency center, and the bedrooms each had locks.
But after a year together, Izzy didn’t lock her room door much anymore.
The light in the center of the room shone on Izzy, shadows hitting the walls.
The shadow was oddly thin, a good deal thinner than Izzy.
It seemed like a fleshless, clothed skeleton.
She didn’t pay attention to the dark shadow on the wall, but instead flung herself onto her bed at the first opportunity, burying her head into the pillow until she felt suffocated and rolled over.
“Still miss the days on the farm!” She sighed softly, “Life in the city was tiring and boring, with no promotion in sight. How do people in books manage to be so smart and come up with so many ideas?”
While life in Archester was very convenient, work filled almost the entire day for the girl, leaving less and less time for her to do anything else.
And her work was also very monotonous and boring, just making parts of a part of a certain sorcerous prop.
She had no idea what kind of magical prop facility she would end up making.
The core information was completely confidential to them, the ordinary employees.
“It’s actually made a lot of money.” Izzy rummaged under her pillow and pulled out the money deposit slip, “1, 2, 3 ……”
“This much money is something I would never have dared to think of before, why don’t I take this money and go home.”
Izzy calculated the total of the slips and the amount he would lose by withdrawing it early.
Ten minutes later she lay back down on the bed and cupped the slips in her hands on her chest, “How about, how about not doing it for another three years?”
That’s when she heard the door open next door.
Just now, in order to calculate how much money she had earned, Izzy had secretly locked the door to her room so that her returning roommate wouldn’t see her.
So she even looked sideways to confirm when she heard the sound of the door opening.
It was indeed the door to the next bedroom that had been opened.
How strange, her roommate used to come back later than her.
When Izzy came back today, she saw that the living room lights weren’t on and the door to the next bedroom was closed, so she thought that her roommate hadn’t come back today either.
She tucked the slip back under her pillow and prepared to put on her shoes and go over to say hello to her roommate.
Just as he lowered his head to put on his shoes, he suddenly heard the handle of his room door move twice.
Izzy moved and looked up at the door to his room.
She then clearly saw the brass handle of her room door slowly turn halfway around.
“Click, click ……”
The handle was stuck halfway and couldn’t be turned any further because Izzy had just secretly locked it when she counted the money.
The brass handle turned back, then slowly twisted again.
Izzy was supposed to shout, “Coming, coming.” and go over to the door.
But for some reason today, as she looked at the slowly turning handle, a trace of fear rose in her heart, and she opened her mouth but could not speak.
She suddenly felt that the person opening the door might not be her roommate.
But if it wasn’t the roommate, then who would be the person coming out from next door?
Could it be a burglar?
The doorknob turned once more, still stuck halfway.
Then the person behind the door gave up.
Izzy heard footsteps drifting away, in the direction of the gate.
Listening carefully, the footsteps also sounded strange, as if they had stepped on a shoe full of sand. Izzy was a little nervous as she wondered if it could really be a thief.
But the wizarding adults had made a tall building that required passes to authenticate each floor to enter. The doors outside the rooms also required passes to open, and only the doors in the bedrooms had primitive lock cylinders.
Izzy had put on her shoes and padded over to the bedroom door.
By now the footsteps in the living room had also moved away, and Izzy carefully unlocked and opened the door a crack to look out.
The door to her room angled toward the front door, just in time to see someone open the door and go out.
That person was none other than Izzy’s roommate.
The other person was walking out the door with his head hanging down, the expression on his face looking a little blurry in the junction of light and darkness.
“Ah, it’s really her.” Izzy let out a sigh of relief and her shoulders slumped, “Really, keeping quiet made me startled.”
Izzy was just about to say hello to her roommate when she saw that the other person didn’t notice her and closed the door to leave.
The door closed with a loud thud, causing Izzy to jump.
It was only then that she pushed the bedroom door completely open and looked at it suspiciously.
“What’s wrong with her? Did the separation not go well?”
Her roommate, who had arrived a few years before Izzy, had been complaining lately that her job was too tiring and her life too constricting, and had been planning to leave to return to the small village where she had originally lived.
Supposedly, she’d even written a separation report.
So the roommate had been excited for a while.
But there was something really strange about the way she looked today.
Izzy was a little worried and wondered if she should go after her roommate and ask her. She had just come over to twist the knob on her bedroom, so maybe she just wanted to confide in her.
But just as she stepped outside, she realized that the floor was surprisingly full of dark footprints.
“Oh my God, what did she step on with her shoes that’s so dirty?”
Turning around again, Izzy realized there was another dark handprint on the knob of her bedroom door.
“Here, how did her hand get …… too,” said Izzy, suddenly very frightened.
She hastily retreated back into her bedroom and locked the door. She didn’t even dare to stay in front of the door, but threw off her shoes, climbed into bed, and wrapped herself tightly in the quilt.
For a moment, several strange stories circulating in the city presented themselves one by one in Izzy’s mind, causing the muscles of the girl’s entire body to begin trembling uncontrollably.
And in the hallway, the girl who had just left the room walked slowly with her head hung low.
But the distance of three or four meters was enough to walk for more than ten seconds.
Then she stood in front of a closed room door, she first turned the door handle, but without a pass, the door could not be opened at all.
The girl’s movements stopped in place, seemingly hesitating, seemingly thinking.
Then she raised her hand.
“Knock, knock, knock. ……”
A few knocks on the door.
A human voice came from the room.
“Who is it?”
The girl looked dumbfounded and didn’t speak, instead increasing her strength and rapping on the door a few times after she heard the voice respond.
“Coming, coming!” This time a clear human voice and the sound of rapid walking rang out from behind the door.
The corners of the stupefied girl’s mouth rose slightly.
However, at this very moment, a black tentacle suddenly reached out from the stairwell and swept the girl’s entire body away in an instant.
Only then did the door of the room that had been knocked on open, and a man walked out from inside.
He looked at the empty hallway suspiciously, thinking that he had misheard.
“Who is it?” The wife shouted from inside the house.
“No one. Is Bao knocking on the wall again?”
“Beat him.”
The man shook his head and laughed, and was just about to go back in when he saw a few more black spots on the door of the room.
He reached out and touched it, and fine black shavings began to fall down from it.
Overslept…. This chapter counts for yesterday….
