Chapter 540 Sailing to the Sunshine

Chapter 540 Sailing to the Sunshine
Duncan thought long and hard after listening to this long lecture from Taran El.

There was no doubt that these ancient legends of the Elves were special, even unique, in this world, for no other reason than its -completeness.

In the Deep Sea Era after the Great Annihilation, the old world collapsed and overturned, the new civilization was broken and reshaped, the communication between the city-states was cut off for a long time, and coupled with the various impacts of the Dark Age, this led to the fragmented historical records of almost all the city-states on the boundless sea, and the various races had hardly preserved any complete inheritance.

The belief in the four gods, which appeared only after the beginning of the Deep Sea Era, developed by leaps and bounds precisely under such circumstances of broken inheritance and blank myths in the various city-states.

However, in the case of the elves, the ancient myths were preserved and inherited, and even today, when the four gods’ beliefs covered the entire world and the old belief system was denounced as heretical, these things were also preserved – due to the limitations of the population, the elven city-states occupied by the elves were only a small portion of the entire infinite sea, and their distribution was extremely dispersed, but it was in this limited and dispersed elven city-states that they were preserved and inherited. But it is in these limited and scattered elven city-states that there is still consistency in their culture, customs and mythological systems.

But even in these limited and scattered elven city-states, their culture, customs and mythological system are still consistent.

“Such a complete mythological system …… may really reveal some truths before the Great Annihilation.” Duncan whispered to himself.

“There have been a number of scholars who believe so, that the Elves are the only race that has retained the integrity of their old belief system, and although many of our ancient texts have suffered ‘contamination’, the myths we have passed on by word of mouth… …still remain largely in their original form,” Taran-El said, helplessly spreading his hands, “but even so, we can only study them as ‘stories’, unable to use them directly as pre-Great Annihilation historical information.”

Duncan frowned, and something Maurice had said to him long ago couldn’t help but come to mind, “…… because of those great contradictions between history and reality.”

“Yes, every scholar who tries to trace the Great Annihilation will face the cruel blow of ‘ambivalence’,” Taran-El sighed, “This is something we feel most keenly, the more complete the Elven mythological system becomes, the more it is unable to explain the world as it is today, and one of the greatest contradictions lies in the fact that …… Sasloca’s creation of the world had no place for humans and Sanguinians.”

Duncan didn’t say anything, just pondered with a serious face.

Taran El, on the other hand, continued to speak, “Not only in the legend of Sasloca’s creation, but also in some of our other, less complete, legendary stories, but where descriptions of the world are concerned, there is no mention at all of the ‘Humans’ and the ‘Sanguinians ‘ These two species, as you should understand, are quite unusual.”

Duncan nodded slowly, but for some reason, what came to his mind at the moment was a different image from what he had seen earlier – the

The Moon.

He looked up at the window, the light golden “sunlight” filled the sea, and in the distance, between the waves, he could vaguely see a luminous cliff-like border stretching across the sea.

That was the fallen object that Lucrecia had retrieved from the “border”, and that was the location of the “mysterious stone ball”.

“Are you going to take a look at that?” Lucrecia was the first to notice Duncan’s line of sight, and immediately took the initiative to speak, “There is a temporary research facility set up by Light Wind Harbor over there, and I’ve already greeted the people there, so they can evacuate the unrelated personnel from the core area.”

Duncan hesitated for a moment and gently nodded, “Go ahead and make the arrangements, that’s why I’m here.”

“Good, I’ll contact the research facility side first and ask them to remove the people.”

Lucrecia responded, then got up and left the room.

And shortly after she left, Duncan noticed that the Radiant Star slowly turned its bow and began sailing toward the huge glowing body in the distance.

Only Duncan and the great elven scholar were left in the room for a time, and after a few moments of silence, Taran-El grew tense and nervous again, visible to the naked eye.

Fortunately for him, though, this time his impatience did not last long – Duncan took the initiative to break the silence before the awkwardness could brew up again, “I heard that you tried to observe the surface of Vision 001 when the sun went out?”

“Yes,” Taran-El rested his hands on the table a little nervously, fiddling with his thumbs, “And Lady Lucrecia always thought my slumber had something to do with having observed the sun, though I don’t think it was anything like that… …”

“What have you seen?” Duncan asked again.

“…… I recorded the scene, and that paper is now in Lady Lucrecia’s possession, but many of its key details have been blotted out – I blotted them out myself, but I don’t remember them myself. You’ll find it later if you’re interested ……”

Talan-El was just in the middle of his sentence when the door to the parlor was opened, and Lucrecia, who had not been gone for long, came back into the room, “The paper is in my possession.”

With that, she stepped back to the table and said to Duncan while removing the already crumpled piece of draft paper from her arms, “I’ve left the ship at the helm of the rabbi for now – it’s another member of my ‘crew’. This is the sketch Master Al made at the time for you to look at.”

Duncan immediately took the sketch paper handed to him with a serious expression, spreading it flat on the table and sweeping his eyes over the rough pattern drawn there.

However, at the first glance, he only felt that it was just a bunch of meaningless and haphazard lines – apart from the circular outline at the edges that showed that it was indeed the pattern of Vision 001, the serious smearing inside that circle almost completely destroyed its original real structure.

However, after carefully distinguishing it for a while, he vaguely sensed some kind of familiarity from behind those messily smeared lines. It was as if in the depths of those smeared traces, there was something hidden that he had seen before and was even deeply impressed by.

Duncan frowned and raised his head after half a day of scrutinizing it, looking at Taran El, “You can’t remember it at all?”

“Can’t remember it at all,” Taran El said awkwardly, “My mind automatically erased that part of my memory, I think …… that must have been dangerous information.”

“The paper itself carries no contamination, but hastily restoring it to its ‘true version’ could potentially pose a danger,” Lucrecia added from the sidelines, “I had originally intended to hand it over to the scholars of Lightwind Harbor. But after realizing the risks involved, I felt it would be more appropriate to hand it over to you.”

“Very well,” Duncan exhaled softly, a small smile suddenly appearing on his face, “You have begun to rebuild your trust in me?”

Lucrecia was instantly a little nervous, “…… I just think …… you’re more suitable …… Of course, I do trust you, my brother said that you are now ……”

“There’s no need to say more, Lucy,” Duncan smiled and shook his head, then solemnly put the piece of paper away, “I’ll take it back with me, and after that I’ll find a way to unravel its secrets – if there’s any progress I’ll be the notify you first.”

Lucrecia seemed relieved, and even …… looked a little happy.

Duncan did not say anything else, after collecting the draft paper, he got up and went to the window, quietly looking at the rolling sea outside, and the “sunshine” is gradually approaching from the corner of the porthole.

……

After a not-too-long voyage, the Bright Star gradually approached the “luminous falling object” floating on the sea surface near the Light Wind Harbor.

Now, the ship was passing by the temporary harbor.

Duncan went to the bow deck and watched as the magnificent golden light zoomed in and out of view like an overwhelming cliff.

This was the first time he had seen this “falling object”, which had only existed in Tirion’s description, and at such a close distance – the oppressive feeling of the approaching giant and the mystery of the indistinguishable curtain of light were so intertwined that even he felt a moment of suffocation. A moment of suffocation.

He could well imagine just how much of a shock Lucrecia had caused the elves here when she had dragged this thing near Lightwind Harbor in the first place.

But by now, the elves had obviously adapted to this “neighbor”.

“This harbor is the ‘research facility’ you mentioned earlier?” Duncan raised his arm, pointing at the temporary floating harbor on the nearby sea, and inquired about Lucrecia beside him.

“Yes,” Lucrecia nodded, “because of the fear of the dangerous nature of some of the things in the ‘Falling Objects’, we conduct all of our research at sea, and Master Talan-El is the main person in charge of this port one of the people in charge. Also, there was a small permanent station in the center area of the Fell Object, but everyone there has pulled back now.”

“Understandable – after all, not everyone is comfortable with being in close contact with a ‘subspace shadow’,” Duncan smiled, “and that Mr. Taran-El has done well.”

Lucrecia heard this and explained in a panic, “Actually, it’s not all like this, the way you look now …… I mean after converging the flames, you’re actually not much different from an ordinary person, most people don’t recognize your face …… I’m am mainly worried that unrelated people will disturb you ……”

“It’s okay, don’t always be so nervous,” Duncan smiled and waved his hand, “It’s normal for someone to be afraid, I’m used to it.”

Lucrecia hurriedly nodded, then raised her sight to look at the huge wall of light that was already approaching, “We’re getting ready to enter the interior of the body of light, we’ll have to navigate carefully next, I’ll have to go and take the helm myself.”

“Well, go ahead.”

Lucrecia nodded, and then thumped into a myriad of streaks of colored paper, hovering and flying towards the bridge.

Duncan instantly watched the scene in amazement; it was the first time he’d seen this marvelous power of Lucrecia’s – and as he watched the pieces of paper streak before his eyes, he casually reached out and grabbed a piece, holding it in front of his eyes to examine it curiously.

In the next second, he heard a cry of surprise from the air, and immediately afterward those flying pieces of paper reunited into Lucrecia’s shape with a bang.

The witch lady landed on the deck in a state of disarray.

And slid out a good distance.
