Chapter 515 – Illumination
Chapter 515: Lighting Up
The faint light that remained after the sun went out hung high in the sky, and that faint light couldn’t illuminate the sea, but instead made the whole world seem darker and darker.
White Oak is sailing in the depths of this darkness.
The ship has been lit, oil lamps and electric lighting and the light of the light diffusion out, illuminated a small piece of the sea nearby, fine waves in the weak light between the undulation, it looks as if with a viscous and unknown texture.
Lawrence gripped the rudder and responded to the voice coming from his head, “…… The White Oak’s side of the ship is in good shape, apart from the sailors being a bit nervous, there’s no problem on board, but we’ve been plunged into darkness all around us, and we’ve lost contact with the other ships in the channel, and in addition the navigation has been disabled, and the stargazer’s room is now only able to see a patchwork of light. All we can see over in the Stargazer’s room is pitch black now.”
Duncan’s voice echoed directly into his mind, “Can you contact the nearest cold harbor to you? You should have just left that city-state not long ago.”
“Can’t,” Lawrence glanced back at the communications console not far away and saw that all the lights on the machine were red, “communications are all down, the Chaplain tried to contact the Cathedral in Cold Harbor with a psychic resonance and received no response- -and Prender’s psychic resonance is barely holding.”
“There’s nothing wrong with Prand, and Frost is fine, what’s happening now is that all the city-states except for the three city-states of Frost, Prand, and Lightwind Harbor have become unreachable, giving the impression …… as if they all disappeared after the sun went out. ”
Listening to Captain Duncan’s description, Lawrence’s expression gradually tightened, swallowing hard, as if he didn’t dare to continue to connect the dots.
Then he glanced down at the instrument panel next to the helm wheel, quickly confirming the parameters.
“We’re sailing at full speed in the direction of Prand, it’s a very busy shipping route, theoretically, soon we should see a transit port – it’s an island attached to the city-state of Lunsar, we’ll confirm the situation there and report back to you at the first opportunity… …”
Lawrence said so rapidly in his head, but before he could finish, a sudden rush of footsteps interrupted what he wanted to say later.
A crew member ran into the bridge in a panic, “Captain! Captain! Come and take a look! That ‘sailor’ has discovered something extraordinary!”
“Abnormality 077? “Lawrence instantly changed his complexion, and immediately turned his head to the first mate at the side, “Gus, take the helm, I’ll go over to check out the situation!”
First Mate Gus immediately stepped forward, “Yes, Captain!”
Lawrence flew off the bridge, hurried through the stairs and corridors under the leadership of that crew member, and came to the aft deck of the White Oak, and just as soon as he came here, he saw that withered figure that was busy at the edge of the aft deck.
Anomaly 077, this bizarre living dry body is a huge iron barrel next to do not know what to busy, while busy while chanting non-stop, Lawrence walked up to hear the dry body constantly chatter is what: “finished finished finished, we are finished this time, no one can not go, no one can not go back, the whole world is finished, I might as well sleep and die! ……”
This bastard, as always, is bursting with negative energy.
Lawrence did not want to listen to abnormal 077 continue to read, immediately two steps up to the front, loudly interrupted the guy: “What are you doing?”
That dry body suddenly stirred a moment, as if waking up from dreaming, hurriedly nodded his head and waist: “Captain! Captain you came …… Oh, well, the captain came to settle down ……”
“Enough is enough,” Lawrence waved his hand and asked again, “What the hell are you doing?”
“You’ve got to see this, you’ve got to see this ……” said the dryad in a panic, and immediately afterwards ran over to the iron bucket, and stirred it twice with a large iron poker – and from it came the grease sticky sound.
Lawrence then realized that the iron barrel was full of grease, and the anomaly 077 was holding a piece of rag inside that barrel of grease with an iron pincer and stirring it, and then this dry body clamped out the mass of rags that had been soaked with grease, and then touched a lighter that he didn’t know which crew member he had asked for, and lit the mass of rags.
As Lawrence watched with a frown, Anomaly 077 threw the burning mass of rags out to sea with all his might – the fireball landed on the surface and drifted swiftly with the waves towards the rear of the White Oak.
Anomaly 077 rambled on, “It’s the way sailors used to roughly estimate their speed – it was done before your nifty, fancy machines were invented, not very accurate, but it works …… “
“I know, I’ve learned about it,” Lawrence interrupted, “but what exactly do you want me to see?”
“The Sailor waved his hand vigorously and pointed again in the distance, “You keep looking, you’re almost there, you watch that fire drifting off into the distance …… “
Lawrence frowned and turned his head to stare at the flame floating on the surface of the sea – it was drifting rapidly towards the back of the White Oak, which was only natural, as the White Oak was sailing forward at full speed, so there was nothing strange about the phenomenon.
Until the mass of flame suddenly stopped in the distance.
Lawrence’s eyes instantly glazed over.
The mass of fire that theoretically should have kept drifting into the distance until it was eventually engulfed by the waves or beyond the limits of the naked eye, stopped in the distance.
At a rough estimate, that location was only about a few hundred meters away from the White Oak.
Lawrence stared dead on in that direction, looking at that mass of flame that stopped a few hundred meters from the White Oak’s tail, a scene as if that flame was following the White Oak as it did an equidistant voyage, until after a long time, that flame finally faded and extinguished at the edge of that dark sea water.
The “sailor” also used the iron tongs to pick up a piece of rags, dipped in grease and then ignited and threw it into the water.
A second fireball entered the water, drifted backward quickly, and then stopped at the same distance.
Anomaly 077 finally threw away the iron poker in his hand, he turned his head to look at Lawrence, his withered and ghastly face seemed to be squeezing out a sad expression, “Captain, do you see …… how to explain this matter with science?”
This time, Lawrence did not open his mouth as usual to flirt with this “abnormality” is obsessed with explaining things scientifically, he just stood quietly at the edge of the deck, after an unknown period of time, as if he were talking to himself: “Do you see?” The Anomaly 077 next to him froze at his words, “Huh? Who are you talking to?”
Lawrence, however, did not answer, while Duncan’s low, authoritative voice came from his mind, “I see it, and see it very clearly by sharing your vision.”
“What do you …… think of this phenomenon?” Lawrence asked cautiously.
“The laws of physics are becoming unfamiliar, most likely due to ‘chaos’ in the realm of space, or perhaps something deeper, in any case the Infinity Sea is rapidly changing after the sunlight has gone out – whereas the White Oak and its surrounding the small area around it, remain normal for now.”
Lawrence thought for a moment and spoke hesitantly, “This is your power at work ……”
“Perhaps, but it will take me some time to figure out what’s going on here as well.”
Listening to the voice ringing in his head and looking at the dark and chaotic sea in the distance, Lawrence fell into deep thought.
However, just at that moment, a strange low sound that seemed to come from the sky and echoed throughout the world suddenly interrupted his thoughts.
It was a strange, sluggish humming sound, like a giant beast letting out a hard gasp, or some kind of unimaginably large device slowly starting up; it sounded faint and distant, yet echoed in every ear as if it filled the entire world.
Lawrence raised his head in dismay and looked toward the extinguished sun.
The double runic circles around the sun were flickering brightly and darkly, and along with the flickering of the runic circles, the dark sphere located at the center of Vision 001 gradually emerged with wisps of radiance.
The wisps of light were initially weak and reddish, like blood filaments, but immediately after, they began to spread to the entire sphere, and quickly became bright ……
……
The huge glowing geometry floated on the surface of the sea, and its uniformly released “sunlight” illuminated the not-too-distant Lightwind Harbor, as well as the Bright Star, which was docked near the floating pier.
On the highest research platform of the Bright Star, Lucrecia was staring closely at the large circular crystal lens in front of her.
A light blue shimmering light floated around the crystal lens, while the center of the lens showed a group of undulating, bright and dark colors.
The clockwork doll “Luni” stood near Lucrecia, and was using her precise and dexterous hands to adjust those dazzling observation devices while reporting to her mistress: “Since a while ago, there has been an increase in the ‘sunlight’ released by the luminous geometries. Since a while ago, the ‘sunlight’ released by the luminous geometry has been filled with these strange ‘signals’, which are invisible to the naked eye, but can be captured by the ship’s observation lenses, and appear as this kind of bright and dark and constantly undulating ripples …… “
Lucrecia raised her head and looked to the front of the room – the research platform was closed, but at the end of the room there was a special window through which the “sunlight” from the luminous geometry was brought into the room, and then processed by a series of complex lenses, and finally broken down into spectral signals. The “sunlight” from the luminous geometry was brought into the room through this window, and then processed through a series of complex lens devices, and finally split into spectral maps and projected onto a specific observation device, which was designed and constructed by her own hands.
It’s a large installation she built to study the “luminous geometry” – and now it’s working.
Lucrecia withdrew her gaze and glanced at the recording instrument on the table beside her, which was spitting out tapes of paper – long strips of paper that recorded the spectral variations captured by the lens system, with jumps of black lines in clear, well-defined cycles.
“These ‘light signals’ are regular ……” she said softly.
“Yes,” the mannequin Lunie nodded, “each set of signals is sent on a twelve-second cycle, repeated three times followed by a thirty-second interval, and then reappearing again.”
“Sent from that ‘stone sphere’?”
“Can’t be sure – there are people from the Truth Academy monitoring the vicinity of the stone sphere, but they didn’t notice any changes in the sphere itself, and these ‘light signals’ are more like they’re coming out of thin air directly from the glowing area around the sphere! ……”
Mannequin Luni suddenly paused in the middle of her sentence.
“Mistress, the light signals have stopped.”
Lucrecia looked at the crystal lens in front of her in dismay.
Those bright and dark, constantly undulating colors had disappeared.
She froze for a moment, and then, as if she suddenly thought of something, her figure suddenly disintegrated, transforming into colorful pieces of paper that flew in all directions and rushed out of the window in a whirlwind.
The colored pieces of paper fluttered above the deck and quickly reformed themselves as Lucrecia stood on the upper deck of the Radiant Star, narrowing her eyes and looking up into the sky.
Through the light golden “sunlight” that filled the surface of the sea, she saw an extraordinarily bright luminescent body hanging high in the sky.
The sun was re-lighting.
