Chapter 513 Extinguished

Chapter 513 Extinguish
The shouts coming from the street outside caused Lucrecia and Taran-El to freeze at the same time, followed by their gazes snapping to the direction of the window.

There was still warm and bright “sunlight” pouring in through the window, so in the first few seconds, Lucrecia and Taran El didn’t realize that there was anything unusual about the environment, but soon they noticed that the “sunlight” pouring in through the window seemed to be a bit out of place compared to what they had seen before. But soon they noticed that the “sunlight” coming in through the window seemed to be out of place, and that the overall brightness of the light outside the window had decreased.

Lucrecia’s eyes stared, and in the next second, she transformed into countless pieces of colorful paper that flew in all directions with a bang, and rushed out of the window in a whirlwind, flying up to the roof, and coalescing into the figure of the witch in the sea on a platform – Lucrecia! raised her head and looked in the direction where the sun should be high at this moment.

A huge dark sphere is quietly suspended in the sky, and the two runic circles on the edge of the sphere are releasing a blinding golden glow, but between the two circles of light, as if the lamps are not in good contact with each other, there are frequent dark breaks, as if they will go out completely at any time.

Since the main body of the sun had already been plunged into darkness, the brightness of the entire sun was only left by those two rings – theoretically, the entire city-state should have been plunged into a night-like darkness by now.

But there is still sunlight shining on Lightwind Harbor, and this light comes from the sea not far away – the luminous geometry like a small mountain is still floating on the sea, and the light golden “sunlight” from that direction prevents the city from falling into darkness, which is exactly what Lucrecia and her team had done before. This was the source of the “sunlight” that Lucrecia and Taran-El had seen in their room.

The sound of clothing rubbing against buildings and gasping for air reached her ears, and Lucrecia lowered her head to see a middle-aged elf with short, disheveled blonde hair struggling to climb up a drainpipe – Master Talan-El had climbed up to the platform with a hundred years of frozen shoulder and whiplash.

The elf’s talent was awe-inspiring.

“Hoo…… hoo…… Ms. Lucrecia, you’re right…… hoo… …I may be in need of a little physical exercise, simply watching my diet and nutrition will not ……hoo…… ensure strength …… “

“I don’t think you’ve been paying attention to diet and nutrition – the ‘Vital Signs Maintenance Meal’ serves only to maintain your vital signs,” Lucrecia said expressionlessly, while her gaze remained fixed on the dark sphere high in the distant sky, “As for now, it’s better to take a look at the sky, which is a much bigger problem.”

Taran-El caught his breath and looked up in that direction.

Against the pale golden light that tilted and diffused from the direction of the sea, that dark sphere hanging high in the sky looked more and more bizarre – the vision 001 – the sun that had once sheltered this world for 10,000 years – looked so terrifying after it was extinguished.

It was like a ghastly hole leading to the end of everything, or a rotting, dying eyeball quietly looking down on the world from the sky.

“…… Oh, it looks like there’s a lot of trouble ……” A few words finally came out of Taran El’s throat, and his eyes that were bloodshot from the long hours of late-night work slowly narrowed, as if trying to focus and see clearly. As if trying to focus and see more details on the surface of that dark sphere, “The worst thing ……”

“The city guards are already keeping order, it looks like the day to day mechanized training is still working.” Lucrecia lowered her head and looked down at the streets below, steam walkers and tactical squads bearing the markings of the City State Guard as well as the Truth Academy had appeared at intersections, and citizens caught up in panic were being guided to regain their composure with some difficulty – yet even so, the general chaos of the neighborhood was still going on and there was no telling what it would develop into.

Everyone in this world is always prepared for “weird disasters”, but the impact of the “sun going out” on the average person is clearly beyond all training and planning.

“I’m going back to the Radiant Star to confirm the situation,” Lucrecia suddenly withdrew her gaze from the neighborhood, and turned her head to Talan-El and said quickly, “That ship is near the ‘falling light body’, so it might be able to collect useful data.”

Taran El opened his mouth, but before he could say anything, the “Witch of the Sea” in front of his eyes had already transformed into countless pieces of colorful paper, and in the blink of an eye, it flew out of the rooftop platform in a whirlwind and flew towards the harbor in the distance.

The elf scholar was left on the roof, he was dumbfounded for a while, and then he lowered his head to look at the direction he had just climbed up.

“You could have at least sent me down ……”

He grumbled glumly and slowly got up, ready to follow the drainpipe back to the second floor balcony again, but just then, out of the corner of his eye, he suddenly noticed another spot.

It was a nearby building, the “Tower of Flowing Clouds”, located at the University of the Citadel – it was the property of the Academy of Truth, and most of the elves simply called it the “High Tower”.

The top of the tower was equipped with a variety of observation devices for monitoring the weather, observing the sky, and special filters and telescopes that could be used to observe the sun and other distant objects.

“…… Observing the sun at a time like this is not a wise move ……”

The great elven scholar grunted, then casually removed the talisman symbolizing Rahm, the God of Wisdom, from its affixed place, and pressed it to his forehead in a brief benediction, praying for the blessing of demented stupidity.

“There, now I’m a fool.”

Taran-El said, putting away the talisman and taking a deep breath, before briefly judging the distance and relative positions of several nearby rooftops, and accelerating in the direction of one of them, which he considered the most certain, with a long leap.

In the two seconds it took to briefly break free of gravity and feel the wind blowing across his cheeks as his body crossed the rooftop, a valuable question suddenly surfaced in the mind of the great elven scholar-

“Why don’t I greet my own students to help?”

……

The entire world was plunged into dimness, an eerie celestial light that resembled dusk, but was even more gloomy than dusk, enveloped the Infinite Sea. The extinguished giant sphere hung in the sky like a ghastly hole, and had not moved since it was extinguished, the two circles of rune structures around the sphere emitted the only remaining “afterglow”, and in the case of the sun being extinguished, the two circles of light even seemed a bit blinding.

However, when that “blinding” light is projected onto the earthly world, it can only barely dispel the darkness of the entire world.

Duncan came on deck and tilted his head up with an extraordinarily grave expression, staring at the dark sphere without saying a word.

Everyone ran from their rooms and gathered on the deck, staring up at the eerie, inexplicable sky, Vanna whispering a prayer, Maurice with a frown on his face, Shirley hiding behind Duncan with Dog clutched tightly to her, and Nina holding Duncan’s arm, her face filled with nervous panic.

The latter’s eyes were already faintly undulating with a pale golden glow.

Only Alice, at this moment, showed an incredible “calmness” – she just held her head with one hand and looked up curiously at the extinguished sun, as if she had suddenly seen something new and strange, and did not look scared at all.

Lacking common sense, she did not seem to fully understand what was happening at this moment.

A wavering shadow suddenly appeared in the air near Duncan, and the shadow quickly rose and coalesced to form the silhouette of Agatha.

“The spirit world is in normal condition, Captain,” she said quickly to Duncan, “and the rest of the ship is fine.”

Duncan nodded slightly.

As a mirror image, Agatha was able to travel through mirror worlds, checking every compartment on the Lost Country in an instant, while at the same time she had “eyes” that could see into the spirit world, confirming the state of the Deep World around the Lost Country at any given time. At the same time, she also has “eyes” that can see through the spiritual world, and she can always confirm the status of the “deep world” around the Lost Country — in many cases, the information she “observes” is even more comprehensive than the information Duncan “senses”.

“Captain,” Shirley looked up at Duncan with Dog’s head in her hands, her usual cheeky face full of fear and panic, “what’s going on …… is this what you warned us about? ”

Duncan did not answer Shirley for a moment, but instead frowned and scrutinized the sky, and after a long time, he spoke in a low voice as if to himself, “The World Creation did not appear.”

“World Creation?” Morris, who was beside him, froze when he heard it, and then reacted as well, looking up at the sky, “Indeed, the World’s Creation is still in a hidden state, which means ……”

“The sun is still in effect,” Duncan nodded gently, “It’s just that the ‘glowing’ feature has somehow been turned off, but its suppressive effect on the World Creation is still there.”

“And will the sun ever light up again?” Alice suddenly turned her head and asked curiously.

Duncan had no answer.

Still, he nodded slightly, “It should – this massive vision has been running steadily for ten thousand years, and even if something goes wrong, it’s not like it’s going to suddenly and completely collapse, or at least …… it shouldn’t be today. ”

Alice was relieved and smiled happily, “Oh, that’s good, I haven’t even tanned my quilt yet.”

Duncan still couldn’t help but chuckle softly at what the heartless mannequin said, then he lowered his head and rubbed Nina’s hair.

Nina raised her head, pale golden flames burning in her pupils, the light belonging to a star brewing in that flame.

She nodded softly, then released her hold on Duncan’s arm.

A few moments later, a blinding light rose abruptly from the deck – Nina transformed in a flash into an arc of fiery flame, a shrinking heliotrope that leapt twice around Duncan in a circle, then leapt lightly up the mast, soared into the sky, and ended up high atop the tallest mast on the Lost Country – -hovered steadily a few dozen meters higher than the mast.

The arc of flames hovered there, and the flames coalesced into a small sun, which once again illuminated the Lost Country and a small area of the sea around it.

In the distant sky, Vision 001 remained extinguished, but at least within the range of the “sun fragment”, a reassuring warmth and light once again enveloped everyone.

Duncan exhaled softly, he knew that the light in this situation is the most stabilizing.

“Well, now it’s time for me to go make sure the rest of the place is okay.”
