Chapter 455 Information flow
Chapter 455 – Information Flow
The green fire rose up in the captain’s cabin, the skeleton bird wrapped in spiritual fire flew out of the fire, and the swirling flames formed a vortex-like doorway behind it, and after the doorway opened, Vanna, Alice and Maurice stepped into the cabin from it.
As soon as the dizziness of the light shift subsided, they turned to the nautical table not far away and bent to Duncan, who was sitting behind it studying the charts, “Captain.”
“Find a place to sit down and rest for a while, you’re liable to fall if you walk around after teleporting,” Duncan said without looking up before confirming a few more points on the charts before breathing a small sigh of relief and straightening up to look at Maurice, “The book came with you, didn’t it?”
“Yes,” Maurice nodded hurriedly, then fished the blackened and untitled Book of Blasphemy out of his pocket and rose to hand it to Duncan, “Here it is.”
Duncan reached out and took the book, while Vanna couldn’t help but speak up, “Now that Maurice, Alice, and I have returned to the ship, is it alright to leave only your avatar …… in the city-state?”
“There won’t be any more big trouble in the city, and Tirion will be the new consul of Frost, with him and Agatha together to maintain the order of the city-state, there’s nothing to worry about,” Duncan said with a smile, “For you guys, what’s done in the city-state of Frost is already done, and then there’s a follow up to wrap it up, my avatar can just take care of it.”
As he spoke, Duncan sat back down behind the nautical table with the large, heavy, black leather book in his hand, and he placed it next to the charts, a serious expression on his face as he did so.
This was the “Book of Blasphemy” that Maurice and Vanna had obtained from the small leader of the Annihilationists, and it contained information about the Profound Lord, and it was suspected that it mentioned some secrets before the creation of the gods and the time point of the Great Annihilation.
From its appearance alone, there was nothing special about this book except for the black cover and the lack of a title, and there was no transcendent aura emanating from it.
Vanna, Maurice and Alice had already curiously come over, while the other two, except for the heartless Alice, maintained a certain safe distance, not daring to directly cast their eyes on the book.
The goat’s head wooden sculpture on the edge of the sailing table also squeaked its neck and turned its head curiously towards the big book in front of Duncan, after half a day’s reading it finally couldn’t help but speak: ”What is this thing? A book? Worthy of such solemnity?”
“Theoretically, it’s a missionary codex of the Annihilationists,” Duncan said casually, “It seems to record something related to the creation of the gods, although it’s the crazy theories of that group of cultists, but there is a part of it …… concerns me a great deal.”
“The record of the creation of the gods?” The goat head froze, followed by a subtle change in tone, “The ‘Creation of the Profound Holy Lords’ by that gang of crazies? With all due respect, that theory of theirs doesn’t have any references in my opinion – if you can make up a history of the birth of the world without the need for rigorous evidence and reasoning, then any drunken playwright can explain the roots of our world, and there’s even a dystopian drama that claims that our world was made from a chowder pot of stew! out of it? ……”
“But Maurice was mentally contaminated while reading this book, even triggering the attention of the Four Gods,” Duncan raised his eyes nonchalantly, “and you should know what that means.”
There was a sudden ‘crunch’ from the base of the goathead’s neck, and he didn’t say anything for a long time.
After an indeterminate amount of time, it held its tongue, “The closer you get to truth, the farther you get from reason ……”
“Yes, the first rule of the Anomalies and Visions Guidelines – the closer to truth, the further from reason,” Morris on the side nodded in a serious tone, “the easier it is to trigger serious mental pollution, the more likely it is that its interior will record the true posture of the world, so at certain times, scholars will even judge the credibility of the contents of ancient scrolls based on how mentally damaged they are after reading certain ancient scrolls.”
Goathead shook his head in place, searching for a moment or unable to resist saying, “But great distortions and sheer superior transcendent power can likewise cause mental contamination, in which case the facts will instead point in the opposite direction – the more damaged reason is, the more deceived it is. ”
Saying this it paused and added, “I’m serious, Maurice, there are quite a few unlucky people in your line who died on this, and the ones who didn’t die all mistook themselves for knowing the truth when they were at the threshold of insanity, and most of them are now hanging in the heresy wanted list of the major churches – of course You are now on this ship, really want to be more serious actually also in the wanted list ……”
This goat head draws a weird style, but after getting along for so long obviously still have a few sincere feelings for the members of the ship, it is not good to hear this, the concern in it is not false in the slightest.
Morris of course knew this, so he didn’t mind, but sincerely said to the goat head, “Thanks for the concern, you’re right, this world is very good at fooling mortals, and curiosity tends to lead us in the opposite direction – that’s why the captain is needed right now for the final control. ”
“The Captain to ……” the goathead was startled, before noticing that Duncan’s hand was already resting on the cover of the large, black-leathered book, looking ready to turn it over, “Ah? Are you sure you want to read it?”
“Or what?” Duncan looked up, “Did I ask Maurice to bring this aboard for you to use as a pedestal?”
Goathead froze, his head bobbing slightly from side to side, “Actually, it’s not impossible ……”
For his part, Duncan didn’t care about the guy’s obviously juggling antics, and having prepared himself, he took one last deep breath and allowed his mind to gradually focus.
Eerie green flames rose from his body, turning this body into a spiritual form in an instant, and after confirming that he had completed his transformation, Duncan opened the first page of the large black leather book.
At first glance, he saw that there were no words on the page.
At the second glance, he saw a boundless darkness suddenly gathering from all directions.
In an instant, light and shadow changed, and there was no time to react – just like the first time he used the Spirit Compass, Duncan’s consciousness suddenly “fell” into an infinite darkness.
He looked up in shock and saw that all the familiar things in the captain’s cabin had disappeared, goat head, Maurice and the others had disappeared, and even the big black book that he had been reading the second before had gone to an unknown place.
He stood in the darkness, frowning in thought for a few seconds.
Something wasn’t right – this wasn’t the same process as Maurice had described. After opening the book himself, a completely different change occurred than when Maurice opened the book!
And just then, something suddenly appeared out of the corner of his eye.
Zhou Ming subconsciously looked and saw that the tiny white light shadow was floating in mid air not far from himself, and he gazed and distinguished it again, finally realizing …… that it was text.
The text cleared up–
“After he opened the book, a completely different change occurred than when Morris opened the book.”
Zhou Ming suddenly froze.
He stood there motionless, silently gazing at the line of text that floated in midair, and for a moment he even forgot to breathe, forgot to think.
It was only after an unknown amount of time that he suddenly recalled something.
He remembered that he had seen a similar place, that he had visited the same darkness as here, and had seen words in the darkness – that was in subspace ……
“It was in subspace, sailing on the wrecked Lost Country ship in subspace, pushing open that door to the captain’s cabin, and there was a dark place where words surfaced in the darkness, depicting ……”
The pale text floated in mid-air, but soon faded again.
Zhou Ming suddenly stopped – it was very difficult for him to control himself and try to keep himself from rambling, but after filling his mind with a huge pile of jumbled numbers, words, and meaningless memories of the landscape, the words floating in the darkness in front of his eyes really disappeared.
It then took a great deal of effort to discipline his thoughts while restoring calm to his thumping heart.
What in the world was this situation? What was this darkness? And what are these words emerging from the darkness?
They seem to be describing “themselves”…… are they really describing “themselves”? What does this “description” mean?
Is this some kind of mind-reading process? Or is it some kind of soul-level “mapping” phenomenon? The last time he had seen a similar dark space was on the broken Lost Country ship in subspace, but this time it was after opening the book – why did the book have such “power”?
He couldn’t help the thoughts that surfaced in his mind, and almost at the same time, new words appeared in the darkness.
But this time, the words were not describing “himself”, but a few words without a beginning or an end–
“Embodiment …… transforms into reality …… real ……”
Zhou Ming frowned and subconsciously moved closer to the new line of text, stretching out his finger again and attempting to touch it.
His fingers passed through the figments, and the darkness only rippled slightly.
And in the ripples trembling, he actually vaguely saw that there seemed to be other words hidden behind those words!
He hesitated for only a second before reaching out his hand and continuing to fiddle with the words that were like reflections in water, causing the ripples to expand, causing the overlapping ones to show their true colors, causing the other messages hidden in the depths of the darkness to emerge into his vision-
Suddenly, he saw it, a few lines of intermittent writing emerging from the darkness, and they trembled as they stretched and moved downward.
“Outgoing Source – Queen Leviathan – The situation …… is not optimistic, the critical state is accelerating ……”
“Outgoing source – Fire Lord – any new records?”
“Outgoing source – Bartok – bad news …… node feedback vague …… suspect cluster controllers have begun to replicate themselves …… or has gone completely out of control ……”
“…… source-LH02 – has relevant intel.”
“…… specific?”
“……LH-02 – Individuals carrying the characteristics of cluster controllers have been observed approaching, suspected to have a mutated mind, and suspected to be able to communicate with me.”
“Sending Source – Queen Leviathan – Amazing intel! Follow-up?”
“Outgoing source – LH-02 – No follow-up.”
“Source – Bartok – ?”
“Outgoing source – LH-02 – The suspicious individual sent a dog’s head and left.”
