Chapter 443 Documentation

Chapter 443 – Documents
Tirion raised his head, his one eye staring at the secretary in front of him with an expression of “you’re fucking kidding me”.

The biggest pirate of the cold and cold sea, only in the face of his own father to show this kind of shocked to the extreme expression.

He didn’t touch the pages of paper that the other party pushed over, but turned his head to look at the opposite side of General Liszt after calming his emotions a little.

The dismay in this Frost General’s eyes didn’t seem any less than his own side.

“It looks like this is really an ‘unexpected news’,” Tirian exhaled softly and said in a calm tone, “Even this ‘general’ in front of me doesn’t know about this arrangement.”

“Because it’s not an ‘arrangement’ – it’s a proposal, and one that’s just come out,” the machine secretary said, holding up his gold-rimmed glasses and looking solemnly at Tirian. Ryan said, “At present, the situation in Frost is complicated, and we don’t have much time to discuss every single thing properly before executing it, so I simply bring the ‘suggestion’ directly here, and we discuss the feasibility of this matter together under the witness of General Lister.”

“Feasibility? You guys actually really think this is feasible?” Tirian almost laughed out loud, he looked at the confidential secretary as if he was looking at a madman, “I, the leader of the Sea Mist Fleet, the most vicious pirate leader on the cold and cold sea, the various horror legends that you Frost People have been scaring the children with for the past fifty years have almost all been adapted from me- -Now you tell me that you want me to be the consul of this city …… Sir, we have only fought side by side for a little while, you are afraid that there is some misunderstanding about the relationship between our two sides, right?”

“Having fought side by side, and having fought together against a crisis that was enough to lead to the destruction of the city-state, many now know that it was the Sea Mist Fleet that stepped forward at the last moment and defended the city along with the Navy, and by this time tomorrow, the news will have been delivered to every corner of the Frost, and the City Hall will be telling the people that – the Sea Mist Fleet’s departure half a century ago was merely a divergence of course, and that the Steel Lieutenant General who left in anger never actually let go of his duty to defend the city-state completely.”

The machine secretary paused at this point, making sure Tirian had no intention of interrupting before continuing, “All things are open to new interpretations, and all shifts will be arranged for just the right reasons; you may think that such a shift would be unacceptable to the people of the Frost, but the truth is… …the vast majority of ordinary people don’t maintain their ‘beginnings’ so easily in the face of persistent and single-caliber propaganda; the peace of mind and tangible improvement of order in their lives can quickly overwhelm everything else, and people’s perceptions can be ‘customized’ , it just takes a little time.”

Tirian listened patiently to all of this, his expression calm as he gazed into the eyes of the machine secretary, “Seems like you guys are pretty good at this sort of thing.”

“Every city-state is good at it – including Frost in the Queen’s time,” the machine secretary’s face was expressionless, “Molding a set of ‘ideas’ for the populace that are adapted to the current social environment and that can ease the psychological burden on most of them ‘Ideas’ are not a dirty business; saying pretty things and then failing to either maintain social order or ensure a peaceful life for the majority of the population is.

“Captain Tirian, it was never the duty of City Hall to do justice – it was the duty of City Hall to allow as many people as possible to survive.”

“…… Keeping as many people alive as possible, she said that back in the day.”

“Yes, and it’s still engraved on the front door of the domed office – it was only the Queen we overthrew back in the day, not the things that would have been right.”

Tirion didn’t say anything for a moment, he was quiet and thoughtful for a long time before he slowly spoke, “Why do you all think I’m just right for this position?”

“Initially it was Lady Agatha who brought the suggestion, but she only mentioned that you and your Sea Mist fleet might be able to help restore order to the city-state – the decision to go further came from an urgent discussion within the Town Hall,” the machine secretary said. “Personally, I’m not actually sure if you’re the right man for the job or not, in fact I’m even still skeptical about the matter, but the view of others is that …… you were first and foremost a ‘pirate’ before being a General of the Frost City State, and a third of the monarchs or consuls of this city since its history have come from the military.”

“You’re still oversimplifying things,” Tirian shook his head, however, “It’s not a matter of the right person for the job, it’s the sum of a whole lot of ‘historical legacies’, and even if, as you say, the idea of people can be customized, but as you also said, it takes time – Frost doesn’t have that time, and order must be restored to this city as soon as possible, so you might as well have another ……”

“Captain Tirion,” the machine secretary interrupted abruptly, “before explicitly refusing, it would be better to see what I’ve brought with me, it might give you some new perspective on the ‘feasibility’ of this. ”

Tirian was startled for a moment, before he examined for the first time in earnest the pages of documents that the other man had just placed on his desk.

There were no fancy titles or elaborate covers, and after opening the simple folder, the documents contained a series of “suggestions” written in plain language, as if stating facts.

Tirion scanned them twice, and his expression changed in a way that could be seen by the naked eye.

He quickly flipped to the end, closed it with a snap, and stared up at the secretary in front of him. The latter, however, remained calm and nodded gently before Tirion could speak.

“Firstly, the vision disaster that struck the Frost City State was triggered by the Annihilationists, but its root cause was the unsafe exploitation of the mines deep underground in the City State by the old city hall in the past decades, and the failure to take sufficient safety measures in the darkness as well as the negligence or even concealment of the abnormal alarms were the main reasons for the deterioration of the situation.

“Secondly, the successive consuls had knowledge of the matter and chose to conceal it because of their interests.

“Third, the Sea Mist Fleet chose to leave the Frost fifty years ago due to a divergence of routes, the reason for which was related to such ‘mining violations’ and different attitudes towards foreseeable visionary disasters.

“Fourth, successive consuls have engaged in a systematic and sustained campaign of discrediting and concealing the truth about the Sea Mist Fleet in order to conceal the real differences between the two sides and to divert attention from the mining issue by directing the hatred of the populace toward General Tirian personally.

“Fifth, there is a major suspicion that Consul Winston is colluding with the Annihilationists, he was informed before the vision disaster occurred but did not make any effective response, instead he chose to defect, he will become a public enemy of the city-state, we believe that he has become a member of the Annihilationists and will be wanted by Frost for eternity.

“Sixth, the new consul will be reshaping the order of the city-state, the mine investigation will be opened immediately, and the liquidation of those responsible who are still alive will begin immediately.”

Tirian didn’t speak, just sat there like an extremely cold ice sculpture, staring into the eyes of the machine secretary, the heavy pressure carried in that gaze was almost breathtaking.

However, the confidential secretary only inhaled gently and took out another pile of documents from the briefcase he was carrying.

This one was thicker and had more content.

“This is the list,” he raised his head to meet Tirian’s heavy gaze, “the first half is the evidence needed for the liquidation, including partial records of the mine’s irregularities, evidence of the cover-up and retention of the anomalous alarms, and instructions to distort and vilify the Sea Mist Fleet, this part of the document only has a table of contents at the moment, but within three days This part of the document currently only has a catalog, but in three days, all the evidence will be ready.

“The second half of the document is mainly a list of those responsible for the arrests and trials, along with their corresponding ‘evidence of guilt’. Rest assured that it is not the innocents who are merely guilty of something else – but it doesn’t matter, their real crimes are no longer important, the city-state needs them now for ‘colluding with the Annihilationists’. These people could be considered a ‘stockpile of criminals’ on the part of City Hall.

“Finally, there are the letters and a portion of the diary, evidence of Consul Winston’s collusion with the Annihilationists, with a portion of the material bearing his signature.”

Tirian didn’t look at the second pile of documents that the other party handed over.

A cold mist slowly surfaced around him, a fine layer of ice crystals gradually covered the coffee table, and the exhaled gases of everyone in the room who could breathe were condensing into a white mist.

“…… Who prepared these?”

“Successive consuls,” the machine secretary said calmly, “Each administration prepares one, as well as many ‘alternatives’, not necessarily for you, but possibly for other successors, such as the next ‘insurrectionary army’. The last one you have before you was left by Consul Winston, who coincidentally also happened to list the Sea Mist Fleet as one of his ‘alternatives’, which coincides with the ‘proposal’ brought by Lady Agatha.”

Tirion slowly placed his hand on the document, the fine ice crystals almost freezing the document into an ice sculpture as he raised his head and stared the machine secretary in the eye, “So, that would qualify Winston.”

“There is a saying in Frost that the dead must give way to the living,” the machine secretary said slowly, “General Tirion, you are not a native of Frost, but you should be well acquainted with the saying. If the ‘characterization’ given to Consul Winston, and the successive City Halls, will restore order to the city-state quickly, then I’m sure neither he nor the successive Consuls will mind.”
