Chapter 412: Half a Face
Chapter 412 Half a Face
The memories of Haywood, who was hiding in the banded fish, were deficient.
He remembers that he, Kongsha, and Ivan were going to start the witch body transformation experiment, and he also remembers that he was about to be promoted to a full-fledged sorcerer, but again, he is a blur as to what happened before, as if he was merely Haywood on a certain day.
“What kind of transformation were the three of you going to do the next day, anyway?”
Saul felt that this Haywood couldn’t have appeared out of nowhere, he would have stayed in the mezzanine for so long, there must be some sort of reason.
“Actually, all of our remodeling is for our mentor’s resurrection experiment. But only one of us completed the remodeling, and the others failed completely.”
Hearing this, Saul couldn’t help but think of Kongsa’s horrible half-glass head, and the blurry figure of Ivan, who had lost his body, wandering the corridors every night.
The bandicoot was still talking, also trying to find out why he had become what he was through his memories.
“Kongsa’s transformation was to house multiple mutilated souls in her own body in order to see how well the body would accept different spirits over time. Ivan, on the other hand, had his soul out of his body and temporarily hosted a faceless man’s corpse to see if he could control two bodies at once without the original body dying before slowly and completely transferring into the new body.”
Hearing about the Faceless Men, Saul suddenly remembered that he had already heard of this race somewhere.
In his mind, he said, “Agu, it wouldn’t be your corpse that Ivan used for his experiment, would it?”
Agu: [No, master. I would have liked to have kept my corpse until now, however the truth is that my corpse was long ago dismembered and studied by the previous owner of this wizard’s tower. He was curious about the physiology of the Faceless Men.”]
Dismembering people while having their souls spectate?
It seems the previous owner of the sorcerer’s tower was also a ruthless man.
Sol was a little curious, “What was the owner of the last generation’s wizard tower? Is it related to Golza as well?”
Agu: [I only know that his name is Camus, and he is also a member of the Glow family, but then one day he suddenly left, and after a few days Golza appeared to take over the wizard tower].
It’s quite a casual handover for such a large sorcerer’s tower.
Previously, Golza had promised Sol that he would hand over the sorcerer tower to Sol after the resurrection experiment was successful.
At that time, he didn’t quite believe it.
Now it seemed like a bit of a possibility, after all, the process of Golza obtaining this Sorcerer’s Tower seemed to be quite easy.
While Thor and Agu were having a quick exchange within their journals, the bandicoot was still telling of the misery that had befallen him and his companions.
“…… Ivan’s transformation failed completely. The faceless man’s body mutated and actually began to contaminate Ivan, and when he tried to return to his original body midway through, he was severely rejected by his original body, and then, poor Ivan was left without a body.”
“It’s pretty pathetic.” Saul sighed as his attention was called back.
Yura had given up her original body on her own, and had Golza to back her up.
Ivan, however, had been left without a body due to experiments – who knew if he had volunteered or not – and Golza apparently hadn’t protected him as much as he had protected Yura’s spirit, so Ivan had probably just become something like a resentful spirit.
Even a little worse than a grudge.
Depends on how much the contamination affected him.
After saying what happened to Konsa and Ivan, the bandicoot fell a little silent.
Saul was sure that a line of tears would be running down his face at this point, if the bandicoot’s eyes weren’t so dry.
“What about you?” Saul took the initiative to ask, “What kind of transformation did you undergo?”
By now, Saul wasn’t sure if the banded fish was Haywood.
The guy had recent memories in the illusion of the mezzanine, but came out chaotically as only having memories from over a decade ago.
Obviously, his mouth was saying that the remodeling would not take place until tomorrow, but he was talking about the results of the remodeling.
It was like having a disorganized memory and being delirious.
It made Saul wonder if the spirit in the banded fish had just seen what was happening inside the wizard’s tower through whatever means.
After all, they were eyes, so it wasn’t surprising that they could spy.
And there were many places in this sorcerer’s tower where there were misty figures that could not be seen even by the naked eye or the meditative mind.
It would make sense to Saul to say that those foggy people came from the eyes in the mezzanine.
Facing Saul’s question, the banded fish suddenly trembled lightly, but it didn’t even seem to notice it itself, and naturally began to answer Saul. “My remodeling is with my sister Heidi ……”
Suddenly, the bandfish’s voice came to an abrupt end.
A pink finger nudged the ribbonfish’s crispy little head.
The striped bass shuddered violently, its charred, crispy skin instantly shaking clean off, revealing slightly yellowish fish flesh.
Then, the full flesh of the fish suddenly disappeared piece by piece, as if there was an invisible mouth that gnawed the fish clean in front of Sol, not even sparing the fish bones.
Originally sitting casually in front of the lab bench, Saul immediately jumped up from his chair at the sight of the pink fingers.
“Mentor!”
“Hmm.” Golza didn’t look at Sol, still staring at his fingertips.
After the fish had been eaten by the invisible mouth, there was still a “misty worm” attached to his fingertip that kept turning and twisting.
Saul also looked down at the earthworm, and realized that it was covered with fearful faces that were twisting and snarling as if they were cursing something.
But Saul couldn’t hear anything.
It seemed that the other side had lost the medium of vocalization.
And a small slit split open in Golza’s chest, and he reached his other hand in and pulled a small amber-colored box out of it.
Then he dropped the misty earthworm from inside the banded fish into it, closing the lid of the box with a flick of his wrist, and then stuffing it back into the crack in his chest.
Thor’s eyes followed the small box as it probed deeper into the cleft in Gortha’s chest, and the moment he withdrew his hand and the cleft was about to close ……
Suddenly he saw half a face!
The face wasn’t scary, it was even beautiful.
But it made Saul’s heart “thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump”.
He had seen half of that face before.
It was the upper half of Khonsa’s face that had disappeared.
It was pressed against the bandage that Gortha was about to close, and it was just looking straight at Saul.
“Could it be that Mentor Gortha meant for me to see it?” Sol tried to relax his forehead and fists to avoid being seen by Golza to be nervous, “I saw Kongsa’s original face within the battlefield of consciousness, and no one else knows about this.”
Thor hung his head and waited honestly for Gortha to speak, he couldn’t be sure of Gortha’s attitude at the moment.
He wondered what the other party’s attitude was towards him probing into the hidden secrets of the Sorcerer’s Tower’s past.
There was also the fact that Schoolmaster Byron was cowering in the Elf King’s head to nurse his wounds. Though Thor had made a disguise, he wasn’t sure if it would be seen by Gortha.
And what was his attitude if he found out.
It couldn’t be helped, and Saul couldn’t put Senior Byron in the compressed traveling bag as well.
The compressed traveling bag wasn’t as magical as a sandwich, after all.
A soft pink couch suddenly appeared behind Golza, and he sat down in it with a stiff stance before fiddling down with the crack in his chest.
Slight fluctuations of magic came from the other man. The fluctuations were extremely eerie, and when they swept over Thor, they instantly gave him goosebumps.
Saul hung his head down just in time to see the shadow underneath him suddenly shatter and then turn into thousands of small black dots, hiding in panic into the cracks in the masonry.
Gortha fiddled for what could have been a minute before closing the split in his chest.
He then finally looked up and saw Thor, who was standing peacefully with his hands hanging down.
“First of all, congratulations on your promotion ……” His voice was a knot of surprise before it slowly subsided into its original gentleness.
“Want to know about Haywood’s transformation? I’ll tell you.”
