Chapter 347 – Rust
Chapter 347 – Rusty
Surprisingly, it was Rokai!
Sol was a little surprised, followed by a feeling that it was.
“Who approached Angela first, you or Rokai?”
AN: [Rokai had approached Angela before I possessed him. But …… when Rokai came to Angela again, I was the one who encouraged her to accept Bichir’s sacrifice].
“Why, do you get anything out of the sacrifice?”
AN: [I had just escaped from the mezzanine, I was weak, and needed an energy boost. On the other hand, in order to survive, I fused a part of me with Angela, so it was also important for me that she get stronger].
Rokai certainly wouldn’t give out favors for nothing. Just like he established the Maintenance Exchange, there must be some sort of purpose.
“At what cost did you guys get the Bichirye Ritual?”
AN: [All the ancillary products of the ritual are given to a first level apprentice. But I’m certain that those things end up in Rokai’s hands].
That’s something Rokai can indeed do.
His Mutual Aid Society’s high-level gatherings were to help advanced apprentices exchange things and exchange information, but as the organizer, Rokai was sure to gain a great deal of information and benefits as well.
This was the platform advantage.
Whereas the lower level members of the Mutual Aid Society would easily become the parasites raised by the Mutual Aid Society, along with some cannon fodder.
Korie had been planted with parasites, and the low-strength Anne had even died directly in front of Saul due to insect parasites.
Although in the end, Sid came out and said that he was “responsible” for Annie’s death, but Saul now also suspects that it may not be without Luo Kai’s means.
And the last person to close the net on Angela is Billy ……
“Billy is also one of Rokai’s people? To be able to manipulate a third level apprentice, I’m afraid that the influence of this mutual aid society is even more far-reaching than I thought before.”
And now, Rokai had apparently captured a new prey.
“Stripping the spirit body …… to create a resentful spirit …… Huh?” Saul’s footsteps suddenly paused, “The wandering sorcerer in Mill Sail Town also obtained a spell to create a grudge spirit. I also saw an advanced version of the spell at the lake house.”
Sol couldn’t figure out why Rokai, who clearly majored in the earth element, was always associated with dark attribute sorceries, spell formations, and rituals.
“Next time we go out, we’ll go to the lakeside hut and look carefully. There might be some other details that I’ve overlooked.”
Saul’s pace was large and quick, and between his thoughts, he had arrived at the 16th floor of the East Tower where Instructor Rum was located.
Just as he entered the long corridor, Saul saw Hayden who was wandering.
She was gently rubbing her hands and looked nervous.
When Saul appeared, Hayden let out a long breath.
“So scared, I thought you’d let him out.” Saul walks over and the two of them then walk together towards Mentor Rum’s quarters.
Hayden was still half a length behind Saul, even though Saul had never asked him to do so before.
Hayden’s voice was also lowered in the quieter mentor living quarters, “He said the contamination would come faster if I always hid.”
Hayden’s second personality saw through it rather more thoroughly than the main personality. Avoidance was definitely not a good way to solve problems.
Though sometimes it was useful.
The door to Mentor Rum’s room was left open, leaving a small crack. Outside the door, there stood a male apprentice.
He, like Hayden, was blonde.
By now Saul knew that this was entirely due to Tutor Rum’s own aesthetics.
All soul infused experimental containers would undergo superficial facelifts in order to avoid trouble.
The crowd waited outside the door for about 15 minutes before they heard a voice from inside, “Next.”
The doorway was slightly widened, and a slender girl walked out, her hair hanging down, covering most of her face, her beautiful face looking a bit gloomy.
The male apprentice waiting for the first one immediately entered the room.
Taking advantage of the change, Saul also walked to the door, but he raised his hand just before he was about to knock, when he heard another tutor’s voice coming from inside.
“Is it Saul? You come in together.”
It was Mentor Katz, why was he here as well?
Saul followed him in, and the second level apprentice who walked in front stiffened and twisted his neck 90 degrees, then stopped in place and didn’t move. Only when Saul crossed over him and lifted the heavy curtain into another room did he continue to stride forward.
Entering the compartment Saul was blinded by a beam of sunlight.
The windows in Mentor Rum’s room were open very small today and the sunlight outside was bright. A column of light was cast in like a sword that could repel darkness.
Passing through the pillar of light, Saul saw Mentor Katz and Mentor Rum.
Tutor Rum was still a mountain.
It was even more grandiose than the last time Saul had seen it, and the fat arching up from his back was already higher than his head.
“How’s your experiment going? Heh …… what are you waiting for, go up and lie down!”
The latter words were addressed to the apprentice who had come in after Saul.
“There’s still a lot of confusion, so I wanted to come over and learn from you.”
“You’re already able to conduct soul infusion experiments independently, so there’s nothing I can teach you. Like I said before, you can come over anytime to watch, and it would be better if you can discover anything that I haven’t. But …… heh, let’s start first, or else Mentor Katz won’t have much patience.”
Tutor Rum seemed to be in a good mood as he grinned.
Only the corners of his mouth were blocked by fat, so he couldn’t see if the corners of his mouth had risen.
Saul watched the male apprentice take off his outer robe, wearing only shorts, and quickly lay down on the cold lab table.
“Saul, come over here and watch for a moment, get on in a moment and let me see how much of your skills from the necropolis room you still have left.” Mentor Katz still spoke with authority in his raspy voice.
He had taken off his robes on a rare occasion, and was wearing a more slim-fitting black shirt and pants, with rubber gloves on his hands that you would only see if you were doing surgery.
In front of him lay a row of anatomical tools, knives, needles, clamps, tweezers, and so on …… shone with a cold light.
“Okay, Mentor.” Saul stood behind Kaz and watched as his hand rose up and sliced one of the male apprentice’s hands directly from shoulder to wrist.
The wound instantly opened up because of the contraction of the skin, like a cut jelly, and the blood flowed not much and was a bit thicker than normal.
Saul had also cut Hayden briefly and was no stranger to this phenomenon.
It was only Kaz’s movement down that surprised him a bit, the other man had switched to a pair of tweezers and kept probing through the wound as if he was looking for something.
Saul also lowered his head, his eyes following the tip of the tweezers as it moved. He then saw Mentor Kaz quickly use the tweezers to clip something out of the muscle and throw it into a tray on the side.
Looking left and right toward the tray, he saw an additional black, white, and gray irregular stone inside, somewhat resembling a stone.
Before Saul could analyze the reason for the stone in the container’s body, Mentor Kaz had already thrown in another similar stone.
After about five minutes, seven or eight more chunks were found, and Tutor Katz threw the tweezers in his hand.
“Saul, you do the rest. Remember to wear gloves.”
Saul rushed over and pulled a brand new pair of gloves from the side of the lab bench and put them on, then picked up the tweezers as Mentor Katz had done.
He used to hardly wear gloves when picking materials from the corpse room, and this time Mentor Katz specifically asked him to wear gloves, supposedly to protect the experimental subjects lying on the lab bench that could barely be considered alive.
And Kaz himself didn’t rest, he turned to another level and sharply sliced open the other arm of the experimental subject.
Saul didn’t watch Mentor Katz anymore, he lowered his head and narrowed his eyes slightly.
Semi-immersive meditation method activated.
A small white bright spot appeared within the arm wound.
There were so many that it was a bit shocking.
“Can you see many?” Rum’s voice came quietly, “Just pick out the ones that are more than two millimeters in diameter.”
What about the rest?
Just leave it alone?
Saul had vaguely guessed what those little rocks were.
They were synthetic bodies that had been processed by Rum and a few other instructors, and such post-made bodies could, due to various problems?produce impurities, like metal rusting.
It was a hidden danger that caused the vessel to completely decay from the inside.
If every soul infused experimental body has to come for regular maintenance, does that mean that all the soul infused experimental bodies, in fact …… will rust?
