Chapter 343: People Scare People
Chapter 343 – People Scare People
Flight is a 2nd rank sorcery that Sol learned in between studying containers.
It was an extremely frequently used auxiliary-type sorcery that almost every apprentice who entered the 3rd level would definitely learn.
Almost all of the 3rd level apprentices that Saul knew knew it, and the only one who hadn’t mastered it yet was probably Senior Byron, who had a very odd way of floating.
Saul’s figure steadily remained half a meter from the surface of the sea, and then quickly moved forward.
It was just that his flying technique wasn’t that skillful yet, so he usually only flew in straight lines.
Away from the coast, he came to an even deeper area.
A thin layer of fog had risen from the sea.
The border between the night sky and the sea had been completely blurred, and it was as if Saul was heading into a deep, bottomless black hole.
The sound of the waves lapping gradually decreased as he moved away from the shore.
The whole world went quiet.
East and west, north and south, up and down, as if he was the only one left in the world.
If it wasn’t for the nightmare butterflies that slipped through his line of sight from time to time, Saul was afraid that he would have a bizarre perception that there was only one person left in the world.
But now it wouldn’t be at all.
Because that silver butterfly was still a little chatterbox!
“Brother Saul, brother Saul, there are so few fish here!”
When no one was around, this attribute of Penny’s manifested itself more and more clearly.
Luckily, her voice was still quite nice, the little girl was soft and cuddly, not so much so that people would get bored of hearing it.
“Brother Saul, if there is a tidal wave of souls in a while, are you going to inject the energy tube of soul fragments into Herman’s consciousness? He’ll go crazy.”
“Not directly injected.” Saul would naturally filter it through his diary, but there was no need to talk to Penny about these specific processes.
Saul had already come to a place far from the coast by now. The silhouettes on the shore were no longer visible.
“This should be the place where the soul tides would appear at the very beginning.”
Sea fish drowned, and the dead came ashore.
Saul lowered his head, and black tentacles reappeared, drooping down the hem of his coat into the seawater and stirring gently.
After a few minutes, Saul withdrew his tentacles and shook off the water droplets on his hands.
“The concentration of the soul fragments has not risen and is still falling. According to the current environmental conditions, it’s impossible to form a large-scale grievance spirit force field.”
Saul looked over his head, the dark clouds were almost on top of him, and the wind from the sea was blowing so much that he couldn’t even put on his hood.
“But the signs are similar to the rumored environmental conditions that would result in a tidal wave of souls …… But why is the concentration of soul fragments decreasing?”
Just as Saul was wondering, he suddenly felt something floating upwards under the surface of the sea.
A huge wave of magic power swept over.
Saul instantly retreated fifty meters backward and unfolded his Spirit Armor Technique.
He stared tightly under the surface of the sea, wanting to see what exactly was releasing the danger signals.
“Could it be the advance guard of the Soul Tide?”
Then, Saul vaguely saw a huge spherical object floating upwards. It was not fast and was slowly approaching the surface.
Since the other party didn’t launch an attack, Saul didn’t move around.
It was dark, and Saul could vaguely see that the underwater sphere was roughly one person tall, and there seemed to be four tentacles, thin and short compared to the sphere as a center.
A black dark light was generated in Saul’s palm, ready to strike.
Immediately afterward, the bizarre sphere finally floated to the surface, revealing its true appearance that was swollen and stretched to its limits.
Sol: “……”
The sphere slowly rotated, aiming its twisted and bruised features at Saul.
“Huh?”
As the dark light dissipated, Saul raised his hand and pinched the bridge of his nose, saying very ruefully, “Senpai, can you stop making yourself look so much like a monster?”
The huge sphere began to shrink, slowly transforming from a ball to a man.
The bruises on the surface of the skin receded, revealing a pale original appearance.
Byron sat on the undulating surface of the sea and raised one hand to greet Thor, “Well!”
Senior Byron couldn’t speak again. Needless to say, he must have absorbed the evil spirit again and had to keep his mouth shut for a long time in order to keep himself from blowing up from the pressure within. At the same time, he had to be careful to try not to get hurt. However, Byron’s skin had a strong self-healing and mending ability, so there was no need to worry about minor injuries in general.
Five minutes later, Saul used a small algae to support Byron, and the two of them climbed onto a huge reef far away from the coast.
There was a concave hole on the reef, which seemed to be artificially excavated, and it was newly dug in the past few days.
“Senior has been here for a long time?”
Byron nodded, the moisture evaporating from his body instantly, then he reached up and gestured a ‘5’.
“Yes, it’s not surprising that the Hokage would find this place if he’s looking for evil spirits. Did you go into the water and find something under the surface?”
Byron held out his hand in a flurry of gestures.
Saul looked at it for half a day, relying hard on the tacit understanding the two had over the years to roughly understand what the other was saying.
“You’re saying that this place has been the way it is now for five consecutive days, but there just hasn’t been a true soul tide. Do you think that something is wrong underwater, and that’s why you’re trying to dive?”
Penny: “That …… Brother Saul, how on earth did you decipher that?”
Saul raised his hand and casually waved it around his ear, as if he was chasing away a flying mosquito.
“What did the senior find out?”
Byron nodded, he had actually found something in the past few days.
He reached out and drew in the void.
“Ship?” Saul deciphers it, suddenly remembering the group invitation Parker had extended to him earlier, “Ghost ship?”
But Byron across the room shook his head.
Saul turned around and looked at the sea that was as deep as ink, his eyes turning a little below the surface.
“…… Shipwreck?”
“Uh-huh.”
Byron pointed first at Saul and then moved his hand below the surface of the water, and Saul understood that his senior wanted him to go down and see for himself.
“Alright then, I’ll go and take a look, Senior you rest here and keep an eye out for me while you’re at it.”
Saul took off his cloak that might hinder his movements underwater, revealing a linen shirt and black pants underneath.
“By the way, senior, there are two wandering sorcerer apprentices on the shore, one third level and one second level. Be careful.”
By telling Byron to be more careful, Saul was expressing his certainty about the strength of those two wandering apprentices.
Byron nodded, and then the man’s figure suddenly contracted and sat down in that pit that had just recently been excavated, and then threw Saul’s black cloak over his body, completely transforming into a part of the reef.
Immediately afterward Byron gathered the magical fluctuations in his body, and Saul instantly lost all sense of him mentally.
“Senior Byron’s strength seems to have really increased a lot. It seems like the way he took the risk of accommodating the Evil Spirit into himself was still useful.”
Sol didn’t dawdle any longer and twisted his head to fish leap into the sea.
As soon as he entered underwater, Saul opened his Spirit Armor Technique, while several black tentacles flew out from the back of his neck.
Although Little Algae was an earth-attribute magical creature, its original body as a swamp, it was equally at ease in the water.
Saul felt as if he was being pushed around without him having to exert himself at all.
He was only responsible for adjusting the direction in front of him.
From time to time, silver shadows flickered in his sight, the curious figures of the Nightmare Butterflies.
There wasn’t much light above the surface of the sea, and the deeper one went into the waters, the thicker the darkness became.
The pressure of the seawater began to take its toll on the Spirit Armor Technique, and the magic power consumption was becoming greater.
Saul estimated the amount of time he could dive, slightly increased his speed, and continued to dive along the direction where Senior Byron had just surfaced.
When he could no longer see any light in front of him, Saul prepared to spend some more magic power to release a few more light spells.
But at that moment, a few wisps of faint white light appeared in front of him. Those white lights became more and more numerous, just like fireflies hiding in the bushes in the middle of the night, which suddenly flew up and quickly dispersed after being disturbed by the outside world.
Thus, the abyss in front of Saul’s eyes turned into the Milky Way.
“So beautiful!”
He first exclaimed, then was surprised.
“This is? These are …… soul fragments?”
Second shift, third shift by 10pm.
