Chapter 332 – The Little Butterfly

Chapter 332 – Little Butterfly

“The Nightmare Butterfly …… hatched?” Saul calmed himself down first, recalling what he had just dreamed.

“If that Nightmare Butterfly really hatched in my dream, it didn’t end up well …… But it called me Brother Saul, why would it call me that? Penny obviously died in Mill Sail Town.”

He recalled that just now, at the end of the dream, Penny seemed to be asking him for help, and he was originally trying to observe his own history, as if he had seen something unimaginable.

He had no recollection of anything more after that, and when he opened his eyes he thought he’d just had a long, beautiful dream.

“That can’t really be Penny in my dream, can it?” Saul removed the test tube from the shelf.

The glass surface of the test tube was unbroken.

His fingers holding the test tube tightened slightly until the glass surface made a groaning friction sound, and then he relaxed in a daze.

“Maybe …… it’s time to take a look at the notes I got from Haywood.”

When Saul had gotten Haywood’s research on the Nightmare Butterfly in exchange for retrieving Heidi – the curse that had parasitized Haywood or his sister.

But because of Heywood’s warning and Saul’s own fear of the Nightmare Butterfly, he hadn’t opened it to read it so far.

But now that the cocoon was nowhere to be found and had probably hatched, Saul couldn’t wait any longer.

Holding the test tube in his hand, he walked straight to the Nightmare Butterfly research notes placed at the other end of the storage room.

But after getting the notes, he didn’t immediately flip through them, but first returned to the lab bench and did some meditation to check his state.

“In retrospect, I should have been contaminated in some way when I was trying to look at my history, and at that time I also heard the sound of the pages of the book, that should have been the diary prompting me.”

“But I didn’t react at all at the time …… Is this just beyond the locator’s safety prompts?”

It was like stepping out of the platform that the glass window extended for him.

Meditating for an hour, Saul determined that his mental body was now stable, and that the contamination he had received in the dream had not passed into his real body.

Opening his eyes, Saul’s countenance was a bit odd, “It seems that all of the influences I received in the dream at that time were absorbed by the Nightmare Butterfly.”

“She wouldn’t have died directly in my dream, right?”

Thinking more about it was useless, Saul solemnly turned over the notes in front of himself.

On the title page of the notes, he wrote a sentence.

[This is a dream that will never be awakened.]

Ten minutes later, Saul closed the book.

“The Nightmare Butterfly …… was really hatched in a dream. But there’s something strange about that ‘historical reenactment’ that Heywood mentioned.”

He didn’t read the entire note all the way through.

Because after reading only the first few pages, Saul felt sleepy.

This was very abnormal, he had obviously just woken up from a nap, and after an hour of meditation, his mental energy was very abundant.

Therefore he immediately put the book down and meditated again to stabilize his mental body.

“Sure enough, reading this book requires great care.”

Saul put his notes back away.

If what the book said was basically correct, then the Nightmare Butterfly’s eggs were indeed hatching in his dreams now.

“I’ve obviously sealed the Nightmare Butterfly’s egg, and there’s been no sign of it hatching before. Why did it suddenly hatch after I returned? Could it be that Penny moved something on me?”

The power of the Nightmare Butterfly was clearly beyond the scope of what Saul could control.

However, the dream realm ended up taking a turn for the worse, and Saul didn’t immediately report the matter to the tower master.

And the diary hadn’t signaled the alarm.

“Wait, the diary?”

The crimson hardback opened in response.

It flipped through gorgeous gold pages, numerous white pages, mottled black pages, and finally came to the back cover.

“This is ……,” Saul said, staring in amazement at what appeared in the book.

It was no longer a page …… but a bookmark.

A shiny silver, skeletonized butterfly bookmark.

Saul was just about to touch it with his consciousness when he saw the bookmark suddenly disappear.

“What?” Before Saul could look for it, he suddenly saw a silver butterfly appear in his eyes.

It was as if the bookmark had come to life.

But when he reached out to touch it, he only touched a cloud of air. He immediately frowned as a flash of black light surfaced in his palm. The black light suddenly tightened and shot towards the butterfly’s location.

This was one of the 1st rank sorceries that Saul had mastered, the Negative Energy Ray.

But this energy ray still didn’t touch the butterfly and went straight through to the opposite side, and was finally dispersed by Saul halfway through, lest it hit something else.

But the silver-colored butterfly was still in Saul’s line of sight, and even flew around his head twice.

“Algae!”

Saul called his beloved pet out.

Little Algae came out in response.

Once it came out, it saw the butterfly as well.

Perhaps it had never seen such a peculiar one before, like a butterfly carved out of silver metal hollowing, it immediately rushed up.

The butterfly leapt upwards and flew to land on the algae’s head.

Algae immediately craned its neck to turn back, but it couldn’t see the butterfly on top of its head.

In desperation, Algae spat out its black tongue and licked it on its forehead.

But the tip of its tongue didn’t touch the butterfly either, and it swept past as if it was passing through the air.

“It can be seen, but not touched. Like a stereoscopic projection, or something that only exists in the retina.”

Saul’s heart fluttered as he once again released a 1st rank sorcery, Dark Light.

This sorcery could release a special kind of darkness that could not be seen through, and the vision of the person inside was unaffected.

However, when the butterfly was enveloped by the Light of Darkness, Saul could still see the butterfly.

“It’s not light imaging.” Saul recalled that the butterfly had been hidden in his left eye before it broke its cocoon.

He slowly closed his left eye.

The butterfly disappeared, leaving only a small algae that kept twisting its head in front of him.

“Only exists in the vision of my left eye? But why can Zoë see it?”

At that moment, Koho suddenly stopped moving and turned her head to aim at Sol’s left shoulder.

And Saul felt a slight chill on his left shoulder, as if something had appeared there.

He opened his left eye again, and sure enough, he saw the silver butterfly land on his left shoulder.

But when he reached out again to caress the butterfly’s feathers, but he still didn’t touch it.

“By the way, Komoro is also invisible. He doesn’t have eyes and only tracks the scent of death. But the Nightmare Butterfly isn’t the dead.”

“Don’t stick your tongue out at me, even though you can’t touch me, I’ll feel uncomfortable!”

At that moment, a little girl’s voice came out from the Nightmare Butterfly, chiding the gradually approaching Komo.

Saul wasn’t too surprised about the fact that the Nightmare Butterfly could talk, “Penny?”

The little butterfly’s briefly took off and fell again, “Brother Saul.”

The voice sounded somewhat like Penny’s, but a bit more childish, like a four or five year old child.

“Brother Saul.”

It called out again.

“You’re not Penny. Who the hell are you?” Saul cooled his face, “I know you’re conscious, so if you don’t talk, you’ll be locked up forever.”

Since it was already a bookmark in the diary, Saul had control. He believed that no matter what kind of life form it was, it wouldn’t want to be a bookmark all the time.

“Brother Saul.”

But the butterfly still only had these words.

“Algae, lick her!”

“Ahhhhh, wrong, wrong, wrong!”

The butterfly immediately yelled and deftly dodged away.

It then slowly flapped its wings and hovered over Saul’s left ear, “Brother Saul, I’m not Penny, I was supposed to be, but not anymore.”

“In you, I lost part of my history.”
