Chapter 322

Chapter 322.

On November 3, 1991 of the Holy Calendar, the imperial capital of Gabella was filled with a joyful atmosphere, and although the Emperor’s plans for a grand ceremony were put on hold due to Maester Aldrich’s strong discouragement, the news of the victory was still a great encouragement to the court and the public.

As the capital of the empire, the entire country’s resources were prioritized to supply this place. People living here, whether they are nobles or commoners, enjoy great convenience, convenient transportation, low prices, abundant goods, even the slaves here eat and drink better than the commoners in other places.

As the winning side of a war, the Empire would naturally plunder or force the losing side to pay a large amount of booty, which would first be transported to the Imperial Capital.

So unlike other places, as the first wave of beneficiaries of the war, the residents of the imperial capital longed for victory from the bottom of their hearts. So when the news of the victory spread, they also spontaneously took to the streets to celebrate.

Kevin followed his senior, Mond, through the joyous crowds as the streets were filled with songs and dances, and various musical instruments’ intertwined with each other. He stayed close to his senior while avoiding the girls who were so enthusiastic that they wanted to invite him to a dance.

“I can’t tell, little old man, I didn’t realize you were so popular at such a young age.” Mond said to him without a hint of jealousy.

Kevin was helpless, “Don’t make fun of me, senior.”

Alas, if Senior Mond’s hairline was a little more competitive, he would actually be a good looking person.

They turned into an alley after weaving through the streets for some time.

“Well, I didn’t realize there was a tavern in a place like this, shouldn’t it be on the street.” Kevin muttered curiously to himself, turning in and surprisingly arriving in front of a tavern.

It was a bit out of the way, but there were quite a few customers, after all, everyone was celebrating their victory today, and men were going down to the tavern in twos and threes to drink.

There was a man standing in front of the tavern who saw Mond and his party and kept waving at them.

Kevin followed Mond towards the man, and when he got closer, he realized that it was a man with a thick beard and a big body.

Mond spoke first, pointing to Kevin and saying to the bearded man, “By way of introduction, this is my teacher’s newest student – Kevin. Kevin, this is my friend – Ampolov. Haha, don’t look at his scruffy and immodest appearance, but he’s the captain of the royal guards.”

“Mond, you bad hearted guy, you know how to make up about me in front of others.” Amporov complained while heavily patting Kevin’s shoulder. “Hello Kevin, if you have any trouble in the Imperial Capital in the future you can come to me, guys like Mond who bury their heads in books all day can’t be relied on.”

“Thanks, Captain Ampolov.” Kevin said thank you with his mouth, but in his heart, he secretly sighed, this guy’s hand is so strong, it’s worthy of being a royal guard.

Ambolov said to the two, “I’ve booked a seat, let’s go in.”

The three of them entered the tavern and were guided by the waiter into a single room to take a seat.

Ambolov just kept on making idle chatter, and Mond asked in a good-humored manner, “What is the reason for asking me here? Really, I have a piece of writing to do.”

The captain of the guards made a sad face and shook his head as he tsked out of his mouth, “What a good intention, if it wasn’t for the fact that I often look for you to come out to get some air, I’m afraid that you would have already suffocated your own brain in the maester’s tower and rusted out. Besides, now that everyone is celebrating the victory of the war against Nesta, isn’t it too idiosyncratic for you to stay home alone.”

“Don’t you have a bunch of Royal Guard brothers? Why did you leave them behind?”

“I got the ones who didn’t have duty assignments today drunk last night, and I’m probably still hungover and uncomfortable.”

As the two were bickering, the waiter came into the room and set out the wine and food, which made Kevin’s fingers twitch.

The waiter finished arranging and said with a smile, “Three honored guests, please drink to your heart’s content, our boss said that in order to celebrate the great victory of the imperial army, today’s drinks are free!”

Ambolov was very happy, “Hahaha, your boss is too good at doing business, we will come back often in the future.”

Then he asked as if something had risen, “Then do you know who brought us this victory?” The waiter hesitated for a second or two as if stunned, before quietly saying, “Uh …… it seems to be …… it seems to be …… His Royal Highness Prince Antonio. ”

Amporov glared at him unslowly, “What’s all the stammering for?”

The attendant smiled bitterly, “Hey …… nothing, nothing.”

Amborov sneered, “You guys are minding that he was born to a witch, aren’t you?”

The attendant was shocked, “That’s what you said! I didn’t say that! Guests, please be careful with your words, discussing His Highness’s origins indiscriminately is punishable by His Majesty the Emperor.”

Amporov waved his hand, “Well, we won’t talk about His Highness Antonio’s origin. Let me just ask you, do you think that wizards la, witches la, and the like are inherently sinful?”

The attendant scratched his head and said in a difficult manner, “Honestly speaking, they are all regulars in all kinds of horror stories, as someone who grew up listening to such stories, it is impossible to say that they are not guilty at all. But to say that they are inherently guilty is not so bad, we are not like those countryside fools who take the stories of unknown lifetimes seriously, and I’ve never really seen these legendary people in reality.”

The waiter put his hand over his mouth and whispered, “I’ve heard from guests who’ve been to Corner Bay that the church there is running a witch hunt and burning people to death!”

It was Mond’s turn to speak up, “Oh? Then what do you think of the witch-hunting campaign of the church in Corner Bay? Are you in favor of it or against it?”

The attendant was startled and felt that his words were a bit too much.

“Hehehe, where is the turn for a character like me to talk too much about such matters. Please take your time to enjoy yourselves, and feel free to call out to me if you need anything, I’ll take my leave first.”

He bowed and hurriedly exited the room.

Amborov and Mond looked at each other and smiled, then greeted Kevin as they chatted and ate and drank.

After the three of them had eaten almost as much as they wanted, Mond said to his schoolmate, ”Kevin, can you help keep a lookout outside the door? Amporov and I have some things to discuss, and it wouldn’t be good for others to overhear.”

“Yes, Hokage.”

“Well, knock on the door if anyone approaches.”

After Kevin went out, Amporov asked, “Is this elementary school brother of yours reliable?”

Mund grinned, “Don’t worry, although it hasn’t been long since I picked him up and brought him to the Imperial Capital, we’ve had ten years of friendship, a mountain boy, and he’s still a blank sheet of paper in his heart. Honestly, he reassures me more than you do.”

Amborov complained, “Really, am I that bad in your heart.”

“Alright, down to business!”

……

Kevin stood outside the door, generally keeping an eye out for movement in the hallway while pretending to lie on the street-facing windowsill and blow out the breeze.

In the room the Hokage and Captain Amborov were quietly discussing something, but he couldn’t hear it clearly, just a few words faintly.

“The Grand Duke …… aid …… Edward …… arrived …… His Royal Highness the Prince …… Organization ……”
