Chapter 326 Handover

Chapter 326 Handover
A …… weak but marvelous force was resisting the orders it had given to this body.

It was even trying to expel itself from the body.

This force seemed to have existed from the very beginning, and it was only after one’s thoughts of wanting to travel to Frost arose that this resisting force became more and more apparent.

Duncan paused in amazement, and despite the ever-present force of that resistance, he slowly moved his feet to the edge of the wreckage and looked down at the calming sea.

He spoke softly, “I thought you were gone – normally speaking, the soul leaves soon after the heart stops beating.”

He then quieted down, feeling the weak but stubborn power, and after a moment of silence, the body’s lips quirked twice, “Leave ……”

Duncan closed his eyes slightly.

The reflection of this body on the sea of floating oil was suddenly enveloped in a layer of ghostly green flames, and the face in the reflection, disfigured by the fires and explosions, quivered in the flames and transformed into the majestic, lowered face of Duncan Ebnomar.

“Hello,” Duncan, reflected in the waters, greeted calmly as he gazed at the body standing at the edge of the Petrel’s wreckage, “I thought we could talk a little easier this way.”

The disfigured body stood straight, what little consciousness remained of Belazov staring dead on at the face reflected in the seawater, at those ghostly green diffused fires, his lips quirked twice, and once again he uttered a monotonous insistent voice, “…… leave.”

In the reflection of the seawater, Duncan thoughtfully, “…… You are not letting me leave your body, you want me to stay away from the frost?”

Belazov’s body fell silent, the theoretically completely dead body still standing straight and refusing the order to return to the Frost.

“…… You were the first to resist – or, at least, the first to resist hard enough to make a difference to me,” Duncan said calmly, “but You should be able to realize that this feeble resistance means nothing; you’re just draining your soul fast, and that’s only delaying me for a few seconds at most.”

Belazov still stood silent, as if dead – but there was still a small remnant of bright light in the half-open, half-closed pupils of those eyes.

“…… I take back what I just said, your resistance makes sense,” Duncan sighed after a few moments of silence, “Leave in peace, I am not an enemy of the Frost – -I came here to help your city-state and your countrymen.”

He was then silent for a few seconds, gazing at the quiet standing form, thinking briefly before speaking softly, “Reinforcements are coming.”

Belazov’s torso shifted gently twice, perhaps Duncan’s words had actually had an effect, or perhaps it was simply that the remnants of the stubborn soul had finally dissipated, and the lanky form looked up one last time at the distant lights of the city-state, before collapsing straight back on its back immediately afterward.

Duncan sat up, slightly straightening the charred cloths on his body, and then looked to his hands.

The weak resistance was gone.

A swirling, spreading flame appeared abruptly beside him, and a flapping of wings sounded from the swirling doorway formed by the flames as the massive skeletal bird burst out of the vortex and circled the nearby sea.

And almost at the same time, Goathead’s voice came into Duncan’s head, “There’s really no need for you to ‘negotiate’ with him – it’s just a weak mortal soul.”

“Weak, but worthy of respect,” Duncan said while holding out his hand to the side, and Aey then immediately flew to his side, the burning ethereal green fire transforming into a doorway that rose up beside him, “I’m heading to Frost, and my main focus will be on that side for the rest of the day, so you’ll be at the helm of the Lost Country. By the way, tell Alice to have some bandages and a set of coats ready and waiting for my orders.”

The psychic flames spread with a roar as Duncan’s body merged with the flames and in the next second transformed into the fire rising beside Aye, before a meteor-like flame of light lifted off the surface of the sea and flew straight through the night sky in the direction of the Frost.

……

At the same time, in the warm southern sea, the technical city-state “Light Wind Harbor” ruled by elves.

At this moment, it was still late at night, and most of the city-state was still covered in boundless night curtains, however, in the eastern edge of Light Wind Harbor, a kind of hazy and warm light still shone on all the buildings and streets – those elegant spire towers and houses with high ridges rich in elven style were like being bathed in the sunlight, and the vines and trees that were hanging between the houses and the narrow plots of land were also growing in the sky. The vines that fell from the houses and the trees that grew on the narrow plots of land also looked lush and green in the light.

This scene of intertwined reality and fantasy will even make people think of the ancient times recorded in those old elven books, those landscapes intertwined between forest dreams and fantasy stories.

This perverse scene was certainly not a natural part of the city-state – the warm glow that enveloped the eastern neighborhoods came from the sea near Lightwind Harbor.

A geometric structure that resembled a small mountain and emitted endless golden light was floating silently near the elven city-state, and even though its largest boundary was still more than ten nautical miles away from the city, the marvelous glow it released was still enough to affect a small half of the city-state. And at the edge of this huge geometry were the temporary research facilities set up by the city-state authorities – a huge floating raft-like harbor floating in the calm sea, power units at the edge of the raft facility spewing steam and smoke into the sky, intricately constructed mechanical work towers loading and unloading cargo ships docked in the harbor, and yet another small fast ship constantly traveling between the floating raft base and the glowing geometry, busy as ever.

These small ships would penetrate deep into the glowing geometry, delivering supplies and personnel to the research vessels located near the Core Sphere, or exchanging important information.

All of these complex, busy, and efficient processes are calculated and coordinated by a giant steam-powered differential machine at the center of the raft base.

At this moment, a “magic warship” with a very different style from the local ships is docked next to the elf-built floating raft base.

It was the ship of the “sea witch” Lucrecia, the Bright Star.

Luni, a clockwork doll, stepped lightly onto the upper deck of the Bright Star, where her mistress stood looking out at the beautiful and sophisticated tower in the center of the sea base.

“Mistress,” Luni said as she came up behind Lucrecia, bending slightly in salute, “The research team led by Scholar Taran El has returned from the vicinity of the ‘Core Stone Sphere’ and is currently recuperating on the base, when are you going to When are you going to meet with him?”

“In the afternoon,” Lucrecia didn’t look back, “Let the elven scholar rest and recuperate more – I haven’t seen him rest much since dragging this luminary to Lightwind Harbor, and I’m really worried about his sudden death aboard my ship. ”

Doll Luni thought for a moment, “We can just meet him at the sea base and keep him off the ship.”

Lucrecia: “…… Luni.”

“In.”

“Sense of humor has improved.”

“Thank you for the compliment.”

The corner of Lucrecia’s mouth twitched, then she glanced at the tall tower in the center of the base – the pressure relief tubes on both sides of the top of the tower were currently spewing out a gush of water, that was the differential machine’s power unit automatically balancing its overall load, and it looked like that “Taran-El It looks like that “Taran-El” master did bring back a lot of useful information this time.

“The elves are a race with great mathematical and mechanical talent, dragging that thing to Lightwind Harbor seems to have been the right thing to do,” Lucrecia couldn’t help but sigh softly, “Only here can a research team of this size be organized at any time, and be able to come up with this level of supporting facilities. ”

“Moco can actually do the same,” Luni said, “It’s the headquarters of the Truth Academy after all, and the number of scholars and the research conditions are even a bit stronger than here.”

“It’s too far away, and too close to the central seas – I don’t intend to have the Radiant Star dragging a huge ‘heavenly object’ through the main shipping lanes, it would irritate the inner city-states that haven’t seen much of the storms ‘s,” Lucrecia shook her head, “not to mention the fact that the Church of the Four Gods is still speculating that it’s a shard that came off of Vision 001, and something of that caliber …… would be best studied on the borders of civilization.”

Luni thought about it and bent down slightly, “Your judgment, thoughtful.”

Lucrecia didn’t have much of a reaction to the doll maid’s compliments, just quietly thinking about something else, but all of a sudden, she seemed to sense something and her expression changed slightly.

“I’ll leave for a while, my old brother is looking for me.”

Leaving such a sentence, this “sea witch” had already transformed into a piece of flying colorful shredded paper, like a whirlwind rolled across the deck, swirling and flying into an open window in the distance, returning to the captain’s room.

On the table in the center of the captain’s room, that group of lenses and crystal ball devices with complex structures had already slightly lit up and continuously issued a slight vibration sound.

Lucrecia’s figure coalesced and took shape from the colorful shredded paper, she stepped to the crystal device and raised her hand to activate the image in the crystal ball.

“Steel Lieutenant General” Tirion’s face then appeared in the crystal ball, and the background behind him …… didn’t seem to be the usual familiar room.

“Brother?” Lucrecia frowned, not paying attention to the scene behind the other at first, “Why are you suddenly looking for me?”

Tirion smiled mysteriously, “Guess where I am?”
