Chapter 302: Reunion
Chapter 302 Reunion
A familiar and cheerful girlish voice came through the door, and Sol’s eyes widened in surprise.
He withdrew the devil vines in front of the door and released his spiritual power.
There was indeed a man and a woman standing outside the door, and they did not resist the scanning of Saul’s spiritual power.
After this exploration, Saul immediately opened the door of the Black Fortress.
Keri, who still had a metallic reflection on her face, stood expressionlessly at the door.
The other man, frowning, seemed to be pondering what “old pair” meant.
“Kagome!”
“Byron-senpai!”
Saul hadn’t expected to see both of them at the same time outside the tower.
“How did you both appear here at the same time?” Saul looked at Byron first, “Could it be that Senior came over to take over Black Fort?”
“It’s me, it’s me!” Kori raised her hand and waved it in front of Sol, “Senior Byron just happened to be looking for you again, so he came all the way over here with me.”
“Uh-huh.” Byron didn’t open his mouth, just nodded in cooperation.
A little surprised, Saul stepped aside for a moment to let his two long-distance friends come in and rest.
As the three walked side by side through the Black Fortress, Saul asked Kori, “Aren’t you only level two, how can you take over the Black Fortress?”
“Aren’t you also level two?” Cori rolled her eyes, but she was just spitting out of habit, “I’m not going to run around in the Black Castle, I’m just here to conduct some studies and experiments, and by the way, it’s fine to help pass messages between Kemah Duchy and the Sorcerer’s Tower.”
Sol stopped in his tracks as he frowned and clearly expressed his concern, “It’s not safe in the Black Castle. It’s better to have a third level apprentice holding down the fort.”
Korrie frowned her nose and followed suit as she stopped, “I know, that’s why I usually don’t leave the Black Fort except to deliver messages. And my mentor gave me a powerful sorcery prop. If someone really wants to invade the Black Castle, this item can protect me until the Sorcerer’s Tower comes to the rescue.”
“Moreover, there’s a reason why I purposely applied for this job ……”
Senior Byron, who walked silently at the very back, didn’t know what he was thinking. He was still walking forward when Saul and Korrie stopped their steps one after another, then bumped into Saul’s sideways shoulder at once.
This directly interrupted Saul and Korrie’s conversation.
Because when Sol touched Byron’s body, his grayish-white skin suddenly created a ripple.
Although it was blocked from view by his clothes, Saul could feel what seemed like a small crack in his skin.
That crack didn’t hurt, and something seemed to be stirring inside the wound.
Saul silently calmed that skin, allowing the wound to heal on its own, then he maintained his blank expression and looked to Byron.
All of the above happened in a short period of time, so short that it was like a flash of thought.
It was only at this time that Korrie reacted to what had happened, and she turned around as well, “Instead of worrying about whether or not I’ll be able to get by in the Black Fortress, why don’t you ask Byron-senpai about his situation first. I think he’s a bit more anxious.”
Saul seriously sized up Senior Byron this time, and Byron just stood there letting Saul observe himself.
“Is senior …… the problem from last time?”
Byron hesitated and nodded, but still didn’t “open his mouth”.
Saul then realized that after seeing Byron this time, the mouth at his neck had never opened, and had always been replaced by body language, or a dull “hmmmm”.
Is the problem so serious that he can’t even open his mouth to speak?
Saul immediately said to Byron, “Senior, wait for me in the third floor laboratory. I’ll come over to you immediately after I’ve finished handing over with Keri.”
Byron nodded.
In the previous few years, he often went in and out of the Draped Hand Valley close to Desert City, so he was even more familiar with the Black Castle than Saul.
The three parted ways at the staircase in the antechamber, one going up and two going down.
Saul took Kori all the way along the basement, cellar, and hole in the ground to meet the Devil’s Vine’s massive main root vein. “This is the Devil’s Vine, I was in a hurry to get on the job and only knew that by injecting my spiritual energy into the Devil’s Vine’s main root vein, I could become the temporary master. But you took the mission, you should know more than me.”
“Of course.” Keri nodded proudly as she rolled up her sleeves, revealing two white arms that had not seen the sun for years.
Her skin was fine, and there was a faint golden shimmer on it, like a girl had sprinkled a layer of gold dust with makeup.
Saul stared at Kori’s arms.
“Does it look good?”
“Has the metal toxin in you not resolved itself yet?”
“I left this on purpose.” Kori said as she pulled a tube of blue potion from her coat pocket, “It’s for my next research.”
She opened the potion and swallowed all of it in one tilt of her head. She then immediately looked down and covered her mouth, tears seeping from her eyes as if she had swallowed a tube of mustard.
After waiting a few seconds, she blinked away the mist from her eyes and hissed to Sol, “Your last mention of metal radioactivity gave me a bit of inspiration. I’ve decided to try and develop this particular metallic toxin. However, this toxin can easily go unchecked and affect those around it, so my mentor suggested that I find a closed and unoccupied space to continue my research, and if there are any problems in between, I can contact him directly.”
“So you thought of Castle Black?” Saul sighed, “Do you know how to contact the Sorcerer’s Tower in Castle Black?”
“Of course, I came here with plenty of preparation.” Cori raised her eyebrows proudly at Sol, “Only those who are officially the owner of the Black Castle can contact the Sorcerer’s Tower, temporary owners can’t. So don’t worry, I won’t be in the predicament of being in danger and not being able to call for help.”
“So that’s how it is.” Saul drifted off.
That was why Brie and the others were certain that they had no way to call for help from the Sorcerer’s Tower.
Kori let out a long breath, raised her hands, and approached the Devil’s Vine in a position as if she was trying to strangle someone.
[Hello, it looks like you’re my new future master.]
The Devil Vine’s voice sounded a little jumpy.
But instead of responding to it, Kagome continued to slowly approach the Devil Vine.
“You seem a little nervous.” Thor was a little puzzled.
Korrie didn’t need him to remind her of the process of becoming the master of the Black Fortress, obviously, but she looked much more solemn than Saul did at the time.
Korrie’s eyes stared straight at the Devil Vine, “Don’t talk to me yet. I heard my mentor say that it’s very difficult to establish a spiritual connection with the Devil Vine, and told me to prepare for the possibility that I might not be able to succeed in one go……. I don’t want to drink the spiritual potion a second time.”
Although she told Saul to keep his mouth shut, she herself kept talking there.
Saul held back his laughter, “It really is nerve-wracking. However, is it that difficult to establish a spiritual connection with Devil Vine?”
Sol squinted at Devil Vine.
[……]
A few tiny air roots twitched twice for no apparent reason.
At this time, Korie finally walked up to the Devil Vine and pinched it hard with both hands, her neatly trimmed nails leaving a crescent moon on the surface of the roots.
The muscles on Kagome’s face were tense, clearly her brain and body were exerting themselves in unison.
After another minute, she suddenly opened her eyes, her mouth slightly open in surprise.
“I did it?” She pouted, “It wasn’t that hard!”
She suddenly looked at Sol, “Was it something you did?”
Saul spread his hands with an innocent face, “You established a connection with the Devil Vine, what could I do?”
Korrie narrowed her eyes, “Hmph, when you say it like that, it makes it even less believable!”
