Chapter 233 232.Jackalope’s Great Savior [Requesting Monthly Tickets 710

“Blanch! These NPCs are really cunning!”

Little Vikrama complained to Lumina beside her in a rather irritated manner:

“Can’t I just use money to buy their jackal gladiators? I had to do a quest, but I was thinking of brushing up my score on the leaderboards, and now I’m being transferred back to kill ghouls la, I hate these stinky things!

Now I’m doing Hogg’s hidden quest to trade him for a gladiator, and it’s only 100 ghoul claws for one? This is too pitiful, isn’t it?”

“It’s okay, aren’t all sequence quests like this? One ring after another.”

Lumina didn’t complain too much.

She looked at the quest she had just been given by Dorothy, the boss of the Blood Rats Gang didn’t want them to spend any money, as long as they helped to solve the Blood Rats Gang’s troubles, it sounded like it had that flavor of classic RPG quest chain.

“But we don’t get any points for staying here and killing ghouls.”

Little Vikrama was still unhappy.

She said sullenly:
“There are awesome rewards for the top ten! There’s also a reward for our group point pool, and now Sister Pomegranate is in first place, so she’s definitely not willing to let her give it up.”

“So wouldn’t it be better to not let her give up?”

Lumina bristled:

“It’s just a ghoul, the three of us, you and I plus Lady Water will be able to handle it when we come back, and we can also brush up Lady Water’s skill proficiency on the way to get her ready to go through the Black Iron Trial, and let Orchid accompany Pomegranate to continue brushing up on her Jackal points.

Hogg also just needs a group of loyal subordinates, the number doesn’t have to be too many.

We’ll spend two or three days to finish it off, and then go back and continue to brush up on our Jackal points so there’s no delay.

I’ll give Orchid and Lady Water a word about this first, you take Hogg to the gladiator arena, tonight’s gladiators are all Jackals, let him pick a few he likes by himself.”

“Ow.”

Little Reed Name nodded and beckoned to Hog-Bite-Bone, who was not far away, cloaked in a hood that hid him from view.

She and the skinny jackal could still talk, and Hogg truly considered Vikram his “doggy mentor” and would always ask her for advice.

The reason why they get along so well is probably because they are about the same height?
Little Vikram was the shortest of all the players at 155, while Hogg was the skinniest of the jackals, with a maximum height of no more than 160.

In fact, Lord Murphy thought that this jackal was probably “born with a disability” or suffered from dwarfism, in any case, it was not much bigger than a dog-headed man.

Lumina didn’t go to the Fight Club’s main arena, which was now filled with NPCs and PVPers running around.

After the Blood Rats took over the place, they had also “specialized” the betting process, and there was also a guy who could speak well as a host, rousing the crowd to let out a burst of cheers.

Lumina wasn’t a big fan of this kind of frenzy, so she shared the current situation with her three teammates via team chat in a quiet spot in the first floor of the sewers, where there wasn’t much danger anymore.

After hearing that the two of them had triggered the quest for the Blood Rat Gang in the sewers, Sister Pomegranate then replied with some regret:

“Forget it, you guys wait there, we’ll go back and help. There’s no point in brushing up on this leaderboard, it’s still our ‘exclusive’ subplot that’s fun to do.”

“You’re just pretending to be generous, I haven’t seen you let go of your winning heart.”

Orchid spat:
“I’ll stay here with you to continue brushing points, Mrs. Water will be fine if she goes back, Lumina is right, with our current combat power, this mission can be completed in two or three days at most, there won’t be too much delay.”

“You little idiots, why would you think that we have to do this quest ourselves!”

Lady Shui clearly didn’t like the dirty environment of the sewers, she said in a nagging tone:

“This quest is for us to help Hog Bite Bone form his own clan, it’s not like we’re being asked to babysit that jackal You guys are thinking that after we’ve worked so hard to get it back the clan’s first batch of warriors, we’re going to have to continue to protect it until it becomes a side force?

That’s a stupid way of thinking, isn’t it?”

“Huh?”

Lumina, who was called “stupid”, asked back:

“So, what do you think?”

“Just replace it with three or four elite jackals to form the first batch of clan warriors!”

Mrs. Water said:

“Let it trade back the rest on its own! Lord Murphy wants to train it to become a true Jackal chief, how can this be easy and simple? It’s going to have to rely on itself to gather its own clan to become the savior of those imprisoned Jackalese gladiators!
Instead of relying on us for help the whole time.

Hog Bite Bone himself is the weaker of the jackals, and he’s going to have to suffer hard if he wants his future clan to convince him and establish his initial authority.

I don’t even think the two of you are needed for this mission at all.

Lumina and Vikina will go kill the ghouls now, give it its first elite gladiator and leave it alone, prepare weapons and gauntlets for both of them and let them go down to the second level of the sewers to kill the monsters on their own and then trade them out from Dorothy for more gladiators.

They are jackals!
Single combatants are much stronger than normal ghouls, so letting them snowball in a group on their own is the correct solution to this quest, got it? If they go well, there should be at least a dozen under Hogg’s command by the time we finish the first phase of the Jackal Purge.

Therefore, my suggestion is to at most leave little Reed Name there to help out while you hurry back over here and continue with the main quest.”

“!”

Lumina replied sulkily after several seconds:
“I feel like my IQ has been crushed once again, you’re too much of a housewife, is this herding wolves and tigers playing so well?”

“It’s not that you’re stupid, it’s that you’re being lazy, your tactical diligence can’t hide your strategic laziness.”

Lady Water said mercilessly:
“You haven’t even considered a more efficient approach, in the real world the big villains don’t do everything themselves when they support their puppets, you’re the facilitator of this not a kindergarten caretaker .
Are you really going to play this as a nurturing game?

It’s not impossible, but who in their right mind would raise a jackal for fun?”

“Stop scolding, stop scolding, the child is going to be stupid.”

Lumina wailed sadly and hung up the communication after being lectured a few more times, she sent a private message to little Vikrama who was watching the action at the Fight Club and had even placed a bet for her to hurry over and brush up.

With a regretful look on her face, Little Reed Name looked at the exciting fights in the gladiatorial arena below, she stood up, threw a small money bag to Hogg, and said:
“You keep watching here, this is enough money for you to place two bets, although you are weak there is no way you can be a good brute soldier, but I think you are very smart and flexible, maybe you should learn to make good use of the power of wisdom and dexterity.”

With that said, she picked up her own shotgun and left the area, leaving Hogg, who had wrapped his body in his robes, alone amongst a crowd of frenzied spectators.

To be honest, it felt bad for a skinny jackal to be surrounded by so many humans.

Hogg felt like he might be swarmed to death by these guys in the next second, but it touched the arithmetic treasure bead hanging in front of its chest, which seemed to give it a little confidence again.

He had been chosen by Lord Murphy to be the grandson of the King of Bones.

Now that it had a new identity and was sheltered in Lord Murphy’s territory, it was time to think about how to form its own clan, and these elite barbarians, who had been captured to fight like slaves for the pleasure of humans, were its own future clan.

Hogg pulled his hood, only two gray-green eyes were revealed on the cloth that covered his face.

It stared down at the arena below amidst the ear-splitting noise, where a battle between a jackal barbarian and a ferocious ghoul was being staged as a “warm-up”.

His own compatriot was struggling to maneuver under the ghoul’s claws in his ill-fitting leather armor, grasping a sword he wasn’t accustomed to using.

He had been told that the only way to survive was to win.

What a cruel rule! It was even more cruel than hunting and looting in the wilderness, failing to hunt was nothing more than starving, but losing here would result in being treated as food by the ghouls.

Lord Murphy’s advice to himself is to look for those gladiators who can fight for three matches without dying to become his own clan, those who can survive more than three matches under such a grueling battle are bound to be the elite of the elite.

In the past, such elite barbarians would not care to speak to a weak jackal like it, but now, one held the power in one’s hands that could save them from the hell of gladiatorial combat!
Ha!
Hogg’s mouth moved under his hood.

He knew that he had to make good use of this precious power, and that he might not be able to subdue the unruly elite brutes, so perhaps he should start with the “easy mode” first?
The clever jackal made up his mind.

He saw that his compatriots below had won the battle against the ghouls, but he was about to face a second battle against the veterans of the Kardamanian People’s Army.

The good news is that this time it’s not a fight to the death, just a fight to the death.

Here’s your chance!

Hogg squeezed his way through the crowd to the Blood Rat Gang’s betting point, dropped the bag of money in his hand on the table, and said in a muffled voice:

“All in on your veteran to win.”

“Huh?”

Old Pete, a member of the Blood Rat Gang who was responsible for collecting the money, keenly discovered the furry claws under Hogg’s hood, and he was about to call out to someone when he saw the other party grab the arithmetic pearl on his chest and wave it at him.

Okay.

This was recognized as “one of us”. “Ch, this Scarlet Castle is really a strange place, why would a vampire allow jackals to appear here in a big way? You should really be thankful for Lord Murphy’s kindness, in the past when the Blood Wyverns were in power, you guys would definitely be stewed into jackal broth.”

Old Pete grinned and sneered a few times towards Hogg, but still accepted the bet.

A visitor was a guest, and must be treated with care.

This was Big Sister Dorothy’s admonition.

Ten minutes later, the bloodied jackal savage soldier was dragged back to the gladiatorial preparation area by the people of the Blood Rats gang, as a black iron ranked savage soldier it won the ghouls but lost miserably in the battle with the veterans.

The veteran did not take its life.

After all, it was just warming up and didn’t need to get to that point of seeing blood.

Dorothy couldn’t really use the jackal savage soldier on hand as cannon fodder, cultivating gladiators also required costs, the badly beaten savage soldier was limp on the ground half a day and couldn’t get up, it let out a mournful cry seeming to mourn for its fate.

But in this human city it simply can not find companions to save it, the human will not let it die so easily, it will survive but later will live in the day to day fighting, until one day to die in the hands of some opponent.

“Hey..! Do you want to live?”

Just as the miserable brute soldier struggled to get up and lick the blood stains on his fur, a voice suddenly rang out from the shadows behind him, causing the jackal with a scratched face to turn back with difficulty.

It saw a dwarf in a hood grasping a bag of money and walking towards it.

But it wasn’t human!

The jackal’s keen sense of smell allowed it to pick up the same scent as its own on the guy in front of it… this was a jackal?
“I don’t think you recognize me, but it doesn’t matter.”

Hogg pulled his hood back with his claws, and it rolled its green eyes at the one-win novice gladiator in front of him.

It grinned its mouth full of sharp teeth and said:
“I can get you out of here!”

“Ow?”

The jackal gladiator stared at it with a not-so-smart look on his face.

“I made a deal with the boss of the Blood Rats that for every fifty ghouls I kill I get one of my compatriots out of the gladiatorial arena, it’s hard, but I feel like I owe it to my compatriots to do something about it.”

Hogg took a piece of bacon out of his arms and tossed it to the gladiator in front of him, the latter grabbed it and tore into it, it was in desperate need of energy to recover.

“I understand you have another gladiator fight in a few moments, the enemy is a Starbound Bobcat.”

Hogg whispered:
“You have to win it to last until I get you out of here, I’m going to go after those ghouls now, thanks to your victory just now, I only need to take out 49 ghouls in exchange for your freedom.

But you must also make a deal with me.

After I get you out, you have to stay here and kill more ghouls with me.

You know, the humans are clearing us out, and there will be a steady stream of awesome compatriots among us.

We need to get them all out, I’ve lost my clan as have you, but maybe us gladiators can reorganize a new one.”

“You you don’t look like a jackal!”

The wounded gladiator finished the bacon, it pulled a cracked tooth out of its mouth which made its whole body tremble in pain.

But it still spoke brokenly:

“You’re more like a cunning human, bah, rotten meat eaten by us who the hell are you? Are you sure you can get me out of here? Why didn’t those humans throw you in too? You traitor!”

“Don’t be stupid, you think you’re the first jackal in this gladiatorial arena?”

The wily Hogg scolded in a half-truth:

“I’ve been through things you can’t even imagine, and the fact that I relied on myself to escape from here is even more than you could ever do, I used the blood of my enemies to get me back my freedom, you fool.

Listen up, my name is Hogg!

Believe it or not, I’m going to get you out of here, but only if you don’t die at the claws of that Starbound Bobcat in a moment, got it? I’ve found you a weapon you like better, hopefully it will save your life.”

A bloodied black flail was tossed to the gladiator in front of him.

It was a favorite weapon of the jackals, powerful and with a long reach it could bring out the best of the jackals brute strength and swiftness.

“Well I hate you!”

The gladiator grabbed the flail as it glared at Hogg but whispered:

“Thanks.”

“Good, you seem a little smarter than the average jackal, no wonder you managed to pick up a life from those crazy warriors.”

Hogg let out a strange laugh characteristic of jackals as it said:

“One last question, what is your name?”

“Big Bones.”

The jackal gladiator whispers:
“My name is Big Bones!”

“Uh, it’s not even a name, you dumbass!”

Hogg shook his head, as he went back into the shadows:

“Your name is. Nash! Get it? From today on, your name is Nash, don’t die here Nash, wait for me to come back for you.”

As Nash the Jackal watched, Hogg disappeared into the gladiator preparation area.

It really didn’t like this brooding compatriot.

But even its brain could guess that this compatriot must have some unusual relationship. And at this moment, outside the gladiator preparation area, “Razor” Dorothy’s eyes looked oddly at the money bag that Hogg handed over, and she said:

“Are you sure you want this? It just lost, and it’s not sure it’s going to win the third fight, I thought you’d pick the better guy.”

“I’m too weak.”

Hogg whispered:
“I can’t control the powerful guys, the weak ones in a jackal’s clan are not qualified to command the strong ones, and now is not the time to have those powerful guys. I’ve raised hyenas, I know that to control them you have to train them from pups.”

“Well, you sure are smart.”

Dorothy said as she upended the bag of money in her hand:

“But I made a deal with your human friend that there’s no money in this, so take it back.”

“You thought wrong, I didn’t give you money for them.”

Hogg shook his head.

A sly glint flashed in his green eyes and he whimpered:
“I’d like to ask you to do me a favor and change the order, let them fight in gladiatorial combat but don’t let them die so quickly, let them suffer and make it hard for them, let them expect someone to save them! In your human words, I want you to cooperate with my uh, what’s that word again?

Drama?”

“Oh, you want me to cheat for you?”

Dorothy’s eyes got subtle.

She looked the jackal up and down and shook her head:
“That’s not enough money for that, it’s a matter of gambling on the reputation of the Blood Rats gang, but you do have one thing on you that I need.”

“Hmm?”

Hogg tilted his head then saw Dorothy toss the eagle claw knife in her hand and said:

“Join the Blood Rats gang Jackal, I’m in dire need of men right now, especially a cunning one like you, I can lower my standards for my own people. 40 ghouls for a black iron jackal, 120 ghouls for an elite, and 20 ghouls for a dog-headed man.

Provided, of course, that they don’t die in three full gladiatorial fights for me.

When the ghouls in the underground are dealt with, I will gift you weapons and supplies to send you away, and I will personally train you to be a good jackal thief.

Your small stature and cunning nature are well suited to this line of work.

Deal?”
