Chapter 184 – Wolves

Chapter 184 – Wolves
“Whew! Finally got rid of this group of thugs!”

Grand Duchess Helen let out a sigh of relief.

The carriage continued to move forward, the leader of the pursuers who had just climbed on top of it had disappeared without a trace, only the messy clothes of the regiment were nailed to the side of the car by a short crossbow swaying in the wind.

This short crossbow is exactly the one that La Di shot at the beginning of the battle.

“I’ve recovered almost enough to use the Light Feather Technique again?”

“Save your strength! What if something happens again?”

……

The leader of the pursuers hugged the trunk of the tree naked, and watched as the four men in the clearing were taken down one by one by the clay monsters, and then the wagon carrying the target faded away.

Just as his heart was racing, the two monsters under the tree suddenly dissolved into a pile of dirt.

The leader of the pursuers immediately climbed down the tree and came to the side of several of his companions who had already been beaten to death, and although he was naked, he didn’t care about picking up a piece of clothing to wear, but instead kept groping around on one of his men.

“Strange, I remember putting it right on him …… Well, found it.”

He finally came out with a scroll.

“I’m going to make you guys look good!”

The leader of the pursuers said hatefully, how could he swallow his breath when he was repeatedly humiliated by those two women tonight.

He wanted to chase after them again to get back his face, but after suffering so many losses, he could also sense that the two women were really the type that were not easy to deal with.

“Especially that green hair!”

The leader of the pursuers gritted his teeth and cursed La Di in his heart.

Unable to beat his opponent head on, he had to use some other means, and the Chaser Leader remembered a secret weapon in his party – a scroll with magic attached.

According to the instructions of his superiors, this scroll is used to deal with enemies that are outnumbered – such as an army, it is a bit of a waste to use it on just two women.

But it was already too much to care about, today’s encounter had dealt a deep blow to the normally self-proclaimed elite of the Mystic Law Society, and if he didn’t eliminate the other party, it would become a lifelong psychological shadow.

He pulled out the scroll from the unconscious companion, returned to the tethering place to mount a horse, and chased after the place where the carriage left, not bothering to pick up a piece of clothing to wear until now.

“Cut! Still not dead in the water?”

Hearing the hoofbeats behind them, Lardy and Helen frowned.

“It looks like he won’t stop until he’s incapacitated.”

Lardy got up from her seat and looked behind her, only to see the leader of the pursuers she had just teleported away with her spell riding naked after her.

After cursing a dead pervert with a red face, she secretly pondered what tactic she should use to teach her opponent a lesson she would never forget.

And the leader of the pursuers, after closing the distance to the carriage, ripped open the scroll and began to silently recite an incantation under his breath.

In a few seconds the incantation was completed, and he spoke the scroll in his hand and threw it vigorously over the carriage.

“Ow… ooh…”

A mournful wolf howl broke the quiet of the dark night.

The sound of the wolf’s howl was particularly loud, and Lardy and Helen could only feel their eardrums being torn apart.

“Whinny~ neigh~”

The two horses that were pulling the cart looked terrified, they stopped running all of a sudden and stood still, stamping their hooves non-stop, as if there was something terrifying ahead of them ambushing them in the darkness of the night.

The pursuer leader’s horse also stopped and kept circling in place, refusing to take a step forward no matter how much he cracked his whip.

“What has happened?”

He didn’t know what that scroll did, only that it was very, very powerful.

“Ow… ooh…”

A second wolf howl rang out, louder than the last.

Lardy glanced back towards the side of the wagon and confirmed the source of the sound – the scroll that the leader of the pursuers had thrown at him.

“A sound storage spell? But why store a wolf’s cry?” The wolf’s howl from the scroll began to spread in all directions, centered on the area they were in.

“Ow… ooh…”

Another wolf howl rang out, but this one came from far away, sounding small but unusually clear, as if it was responding to the wolf howl emitted from the scroll.

Then, a second wolf howl rang out, this time from the distance in the other direction.

Then, a third wolf howl sounded, again from a different direction.

The fourth howl ……

The fifth howl ……

The howls of the wolves continued to resound all around them, and in the end, they simply became a chorus.

The night was no longer quiet and became noisy, yet it was filled with terror.

Accompanied by the rise and fall of the wolf howls, the surrounding forests came with strange noises, as if there were some kind of animals that constantly prowled inside, and there were a lot of them.

A pair of green eyes suddenly appeared in the darkness of the bushes like ghostly flames.

Grand Duchess Helen’s voice trembled as she asked, “What on earth is happening?”

In the end, she was merely a woman.

Lardy, however, was unusually calm, and said, “The scroll that guy ran over must have stored the voice of the wolf king in it, and it doesn’t look like the voice was meant for the wolves to come and welcome us.”

She could feel the body of the schoolmate beside her begin to tremble.

“No …… no, I remember that the wolves near Fort Ness don’t attack pedestrians on the merchant road?”

“Uh …… maybe they want to try a different flavor of night snack today.”

“Lardy ……”

The female counselor gave the reins a hard shake and the two horses did indeed take a step forward.

“There are already wolves waiting up ahead? Well, try the back then!”

She tried to get the horses to turn around, however the two horses did not follow her orders.

“Damn it, surrounded?”

……

While Lardy and Helen pondered their response, the leader of the pursuers was in a huge panic, the howls of the wolves coming from all around them, he had never seen such a battle before.

Yet no matter how hard he tried, the horse under his seat refused to take a single step – the horse had sensed keenly that there were beasts closing in on all sides.

Desperate, the leader of the pursuers jumped off his horse and ran frantically down the road toward Fort Ness.

“Damn it! Why didn’t you specify this scroll for causing such an effect!”

He inwardly cursed the person who gave him this scroll viciously.

“Damn you all! You all deserve to die!”

His body spiked with adrenaline fueled by the desire to survive, and he ran forward on his feet, quickly crossing over to La Di’s wagon where they were.

“Harmful fools!”

Seeing the leader of the pursuers running madly forward past the wagon, Laadi had already guessed his end.

Sure enough, when he ran to about a dozen meters from the carriage, two beasts suddenly leapt up from the dense forest by the roadside and pounced on him.

The chaser leader struggled desperately, however he was now naked and without any protection at all.

The fangs of the hungry wolves easily embedded themselves into his flesh.

“Ah~”

The chaser leader screamed in pain as he viciously choked the neck of the wolf that had just bitten him.
