Chapter 198.
Chapter 198 Conditions
Saul glanced back at the basement entrance with some concern.
“Just in case, I can only stay here for half an hour at the most, and after that I can’t allow myself to remain trapped in this place, whether it’s digging a hole in the ground or going out to find another way out.”
If Victor wasn’t an ordinary sorcerer apprentice, or even a sorcerer apprentice, then Ralph, who had turned into a sphinx worm, might not even be able to beat him.
Saul’s move of woe just now had ended up putting whoever in harm’s way was still uncertain.
“So, you should be able to see some of this, I’m not an official sorcerer, how am I going to help free your master? And why would I risk it?”
Saul said as he nonchalantly rummaged through the cubicle.
Saul was not obsessed with the matter of freeing Ralph, but he vaguely felt that Hant sense must have held quite a powerful capital in his hands as he spoke to him about a deal with the body of a head.
In terms of what was most important to Saul in this manor, it was naturally the clues to the death wizard’s diary.
“I hope you can help me kill the master.” Hunter said in a deep voice.
Saul froze, surprisingly it wasn’t a rescue, “Did Ralph turn you into this?”
“Yes,” Hunt smiled bitterly, “but I am not resenting the master. I just don’t want my master to lose his dignity as a full-fledged wizard. Although I’m not a sorcerer, I’ve been serving sorcerers all my life, so I’m well aware that my master’s current state is already irreversible. I believe that if the master is still conscious, he must not be able to accept his current self.”
“So you want to help him free himself? But I have to tell you, I’m not even a match for your master’s current appearance, and I won’t do such things as giving away my head.”
“I understand, Sorcerer-sama, no one will agree to a mission of certain death even on the best terms. Please come to me, I have a bottle behind my head.”
Saul sniffed and turned to his left shoulder, lifting a hand to casually pat the nonexistent dust on it and glancing at Olaf the Knight, who was not far away, before walking towards the butler’s head.
Olaf had been standing five meters away from the two men as they talked, still standing with his sword drawn and ready to be a loyal guard despite only being in ghost form.
When Saul walked over, he saw the head of the butler, Hunt, served on a large platter. The plate was bumped with some light red liquid, but only a shallow layer that couldn’t go past his fingers remained.
“I’m afraid that Hant’s ability to still think and move around is dependent on this liquid.”
Although Saul was interested in the composition of the liquid, but now was not a good time to experiment.
The small algae reached out from the back of Saul’s neck, fumbled behind Hant’s head for a moment, and lifted out a clear crystal potbelly bottle.
“This is it,” Hunt’s eyes were full of complexity, “Master had been thinking about the ingredients in Victor’s potion after he got it, as well as making an antidote to undo the effects of the potion. It’s just that it was only a half-finished product until the master lost consciousness. But master is certain that as long as he can complete this antidote, he can directly dismantle the gain effect brought by the potion.”
Sol scrutinized the potion, “But in your master’s current state, disarming the potion’s effect, I’m afraid he won’t be able to live …… Oh yes, you want him to be relieved anyway, it doesn’t matter if he lives or not.”
Hunter clenched his teeth, but had to admit that Saul was right.
“This mission is not simple. Even if I can work out the antidote, I still have to face Ralph straight on again to free him. The danger is too great, and I can’t think of a reward you could pay to let me take that risk.”
Hunt immediately said, “I know the formula notes for this antidote, and the master is just a little short of accomplishing it.”
Hanter first took the initiative to lower the difficulty of the task, then said, “If you can develop the potion. I will then hand over Lord Ralph’s blood and flesh sorcery inheritance to you. Flesh and blood sorcery is the inheritance of the Bloodthorn family for hundreds of years.”
“Not enough.” Saul shook his head decisively.
Hunter was stunned, how could he not expect that the heritage of a wizard family would be completely unable to move the opposite boy’s heart.
He gritted his teeth and said again, “There are also Lord Ralph’s decades of research notes. Not only does this place include flesh and blood sorcery, but also the knowledge and insights contributed by many wandering sorcerers. After Lord Ralph’s refinement and verification, it has coalesced into a Catalog of Blood.”
“Is there more?” Saul said expressionlessly.
Hant opened his mouth, almost forgetting that he no longer needed to breathe, “My lord …… this is already the most valuable thing in Ralph Manor, the other mundane gold and silver, I think you can’t look at it.”
“I don’t want gold and silver, I just want knowledge. A family that has been passed down for a hundred years is not so much as to only have a catalog summarized by Ralph, right?” Saul stared tightly at Hunter.
Hunter looked at Saul dumbfounded and suddenly realized, “Is your lordship interested in things from the last era’s calendar? This, there are some here, but they are all unfounded records that cannot even be verified for authenticity.” Saul’s heart skipped a beat, feeling that he had asked in the right direction, “Then you don’t need to care, anyway, the price you’ve offered so far, there’s nothing that would drive me to risk my life. As for the other stuff, I need to see it first.”
“I see. Please back the benches under the table and place them neatly against the right side.”
Komoro immediately came out to take her place.
“Ka!”
As the chairs in the compartment were pushed under the long table, a spring-loaded sound rang out, and the stone tiles of the floor where the chairs were originally located suddenly popped up.
Algae went in and probed, finding no dangerous mechanism, and retracted back into the back of Sol’s neck.
Saul walked over and leaned down.
This small organ did not have any sorcerous elements, and therefore had no magical fluctuations, instead it was easy to be ignored by sorcerers who were used to probing with magic.
This small dark compartment was half a meter deep, and inside was a stack of books and a stack of papers, as well as a few sorcery scrolls.
Saul looked at the scrolls, only one was a 1st order sorcery, Subordinate Small Fireball. The others were all 0th rank sorceries.
Saul really didn’t understand what a 0th order sorcery was made into a scroll for.
He casually threw the scroll to the ground and moved the book inside the dark compartment out to stand on the ground.
Look at the title of the book and guess the content.
Intuitively there is nothing here.
Saul finally cupped the stack of scattered papers of varying thicknesses and materials and flicked through them with a quick flick of his thumb.
Strings of readable and unreadable characters flashed before his eyes.
Suddenly, Saul paused, pulling a few sheets of paper out of it, his eyes gradually lighting up.
These few papers described a book that the Bloodthorn family had brought out from the Bloodrose family when they were independent, called the Diary of a Death Sorcerer!
The next few pages did not specifically describe the contents of this diary, but they did mention some origins and family rumors about it.
The Blood Rose family didn’t pay much attention to this book, so it was passed on to Ralph’s ancestor quite casually.
“This diary really wasn’t passed down by the Bloodthorn Family’s ancestor, its origin seems to have another story.”
He quickly scanned the words on the paper.
Behind Saul, as only a head that was still placed on the cabinet, Hunter was not able to see if Saul, whose back was turned to him, had found any satisfactory harvest.
He was heartbroken and nervous when he saw Saul casually setting aside the family’s treasured knowledge.
Hunter was not afraid that Saul would take these things away, after all, they were all unproven knowledge, nebulous records, anyway, the most important flesh and blood sorcery and Lord Ralph’s notes, Hunter had not yet handed them over to Saul.
He was afraid that Saul would not agree to take the risk in the end as well, and then there would really be nothing he could do.
Saul was the only one who had been able to enter the basement for such a long time, that was why Hunter chose to cooperate with him.
If Saul didn’t agree in the end, then Hunter really didn’t know if he could wait for a second person.
At this moment, Saul got up and stuffed a few pieces of paper into his arms as he turned around and said, “Hunter, is there anything else you’re hiding from me?”
“None, my lord.”
“Then explain, since you have been turned into a head and placed here, how did you know that your master had been kept on the fourth floor as a worm feeder?”
