Chapter 160: Lying down
Chapter 160: Laying Flat
Saul brushed against himself.
He watched as he followed Kujin with a curious look on his face, walking behind him from his right hand side.
And as he himself disappeared from the remainder of his sight, the scene before him changed again.
Saul was still standing there, unable to move, but in front of him was the back of the others’ heads.
He instantly shifted to stand in another place.
While fighting the feelings of nausea and dizziness, Kujin reappeared, passing Saul. This time Kujin’s arm brushed against his shoulder, knocking him a bit askew.
The other man came back immediately and righted Saul, before continuing on his way back.
The next moment Saul once again saw himself following, and glanced at him.
When he disappeared from sight again, Saul’s perspective moved with him.
In this way, Saul moved back over and over again, watching the two men walk past him.
Until the two passed through the entire horde of corpses.
Saul finally realized where he was now.
He hadn’t seen a ghost or teleported, but had attached himself to the corpses in the depot and seen a scene they had seen before.
But these corpses didn’t have their eyes open at that time, so why could they see? And who had seen Kukin and himself?
But now was not the time for research, Saul had to return to his body as soon as possible to do so.
Saul stared at the back of the previous man’s head, his vision was always wavering, but his prolonged gaze still allowed him to see and notice that back of the head, there was a mark that had been repaired.
This dead man’s fatal wound was in the back of his head, but the defect was repaired with whatever material was used before being stood here.
No wonder all the “people” standing here could not see the wound.
At first glance, one would think that these people had died peacefully.
“I can’t think any more, I have to get out of the group’s control, I don’t want to die somehow out of my body.”
Saul began to ignore the effects of the ever-shifting sight in front of him on himself and tried to view the erosion map.
Over and over he watched as the person moved forward clockwise and then at the bottom of the circle, turned into an octopus monster.
The reason it was an octopus monster and not an octopus was because the creature’s arms and legs were the sucker tentacles of an octopus, but at the top the human’s features were visible.
Saul fantasized that he was now that octopus monster, and he tried to step forward, but his body was still heavy as if he was carrying a huge mountain.
Saul didn’t give up though, he used all his strength and concentrated on lifting his right foot first.
“Snap! Snap! Pop!”
A strange and disembodied sound rang through Saul’s mind, like a rubber band being ripped.
He finally took the first step!
“Snapping, snapping, snapping, snapping, snapping-“
There were more and more snapping sounds, and then Saul stumbled violently away from the body, followed by his eyes darting backward once more.
Opening his eyes again, he found himself back in front of rows of tall shelves.
Looking down, he saw human hands that belonged to the man he once was.
“I’m back?”
Thor turned around to see his body still sitting in the chair.
“So I’m just back where my soul was just now. It’s good to be out of the body’s control though.”
Thinking about what just happened to him, Saul didn’t dare to move on for fear of being grabbed by those corpses again to watch a little movie.
“Although I followed the course of action of the erosion map back into my body last time, it doesn’t necessarily have to start from the point furthest away from each other. Maybe …… whatever, try it first.”
Saul drew a circle in his mind, using where he was now and where his body was as the two ends of the diameter.
He then took a step and walked along the imaginary circle, following the movements on the erosion diagram, in a clockwise direction towards his body.
This time he was clean around him, and no more dark shadows interested in his body appeared.
Saul took one steady step at a time, and finally, he stood where his body was.
He opened his eyes and white bony arms appeared in front of him with surgical tools in their hands.
Saul let out a long breath, “Back.”
Before he could rejoice that he was back in his body again, a huge wave of exhaustion began to eat away at his brain.
He helped himself to his chair and stood up, and after just two steps he was sure that he was so groggy that he could fall asleep in the next second, and would definitely be too late to make it back to his dormitory.
“Even though I wasn’t out of my body for long this time, breaking free of those bodies took too much of my energy.”
He simply lay down on the floor in a heap and looked up at the ceiling above his head.
“As long as I lie flat, no one will be able to trip me up again.”
Thoughts too late to flurry, he closed his eyes and fell into an instant slumber.
Right after Saul fell asleep, the large quill that hadn’t moved for two days suddenly flew up lightly.
Then on the clean paper that Saul had prepared early in the morning, he wrote down a string of somewhat messy handwriting.
…… When he opened his eyes again, Saul didn’t realize that he had already received the first task of his new job.
He only felt an intense hunger that was about to burn a big hole in his chest.
“So hungry.” Saul took a step forward, his feet weak.
The bitterly cold wind mixed with flying snow kept pounding his body.
The piercing cold soaked through the bones around his body a little, bringing about a deeper numbness.
With every step he moved forward, he could feel a piercing pain coming from his joints.
In the midst of the hunger and cold, a house appeared before Saul’s eyes.
The door of the house was closed in the darkness, but there was a warm glow coming through the windows.
Through the glass, Saul saw a fireplace with a bonfire burning inside, a long table displaying various delicacies, and young girls frolicking and talking beside the table.
“I’m going in!”
The strong thirst caused a force to be born within Saul, and he surprisingly accelerated his pace once again and arrived at the main door.
“Knock knock knock.”
The initial knock was still polite.
Saul didn’t want to scare the young girl inside just yet.
But after waiting …… for a long time for about two seconds, it was surprising that no one came to open the door!
Anger began to replace reason.
The sound of tapping on the door also became messy.
Still no one opened the door, and he heard the sound of someone running away.
“Why don’t you come and open the door? Have you enjoyed the food and warmth and don’t care about the people outside?”
Saul couldn’t hold back any longer, he kicked the door of the room open.
The light shook him so much that he squinted, but Saul still saw a fleeing roast chicken.
The roast chicken was as big as a person, and if he ate it, he would surely be able to fill his stomach.
Saul kept his mouth watering and pounced on it.
……
Saul opened his eyes to a high ceiling.
He gulped and pushed down his churning stomach, easily holding back from dry heaving like last time.
He stood up, and once again felt all of his exhaustion return, and even a little boost in his mental strength!
But the scene from his dream earlier prevented him from being happy.
In the dream he had eaten another person, and then very reverently made the corpse into a dead man’s flower.
He could feel the emotions of the dreamer at that moment, as if he was performing some kind of sacrificial ritual.
And it was while making the dead man’s flower that Solt reacted to whose dream he had entered again.
Solt got up from the floor and first glanced at the hourglass clock on the wall.
Four-thirty in the morning.
If, like last time, what he had seen in his dream had happened in reality, then the killing should have just ended.
Penny sees other people’s dreams when she has the cocoon of the Nightmare Butterfly.
Whereas what he saw was reality.
And it was a reality that had been processed.
Saul held his forehead and sighed long and hard, “Looks like the apprentice who handled this hasn’t finished the task yet. It’s too inefficient, isn’t it?”
Between looking down, Saul noticed the quill standing on the desktop.
He hurriedly walked over and saw an additional string of messy handwriting on the white paper.
“Shimekazu Horn, Twisted Twisted Toxin …… to be delivered to Mentor Rum’s room by 8:00 PM on April 30th.”
“Come alive. Today is the 28th and there is still plenty of time.”
This was Saul’s first job, and he made sure to take it seriously.
Find these materials first.
Saul picked up the paper, turned around, and glanced at the dozens of rows of tall cargo racks in front of him, as well as the dense and varied materials on them.
“I take back that last sentence.”
It’s almost New Year’s Eve yet, I wonder if all the reader lords have embarked on their way home~
Although it was said in the book review, here it is again, the posting time is changed to 12 o’clock from now on. Just in case I can’t get up in the morning and leave everyone waiting.
