Chapter 51 – Desperate pleas for help
Chapter 51 – Desperate for Help
Jenna slammed her fist against the bed with a thud, startling her own nervous self again.
She pressed her chest and took a moment to catch her breath before she continued to think.
“Now is not the time to think about that. Tomorrow, tomorrow, go find Kori and see if she’s willing to help.”
“What should I do if she doesn’t want to?”
The night was getting late, and the candlelight in Jenna’s room was bright all night.
Early the next morning, Jenna went to the sixth floor of the West Tower.
She was staying on the seventh floor.
Jenna didn’t know how to talk to Kori, and was afraid of being discovered by someone with an axe to grind if she wandered in Kori’s doorway.
All she could do was watch Kori’s room door from a distance and wait for her to come out.
“Jenna?” Rocky’s slightly surprised voice rang in his ears.
It startled the distracted Jenna.
“Rocky.” Returning to her senses, Jenna greeted woodenly.
As soon as Rocky opened the door to his dormitory, he saw Jenna standing outside.
His eyes were filled with joy, but he opened his mouth to say no other pleasantries.
“Rocky,” Jenna knew Rocky liked himself and couldn’t help but ask when she saw him, “Rocky, can you, can you stay with me ……”
“Hmm? What?” Rocky’s eyes suddenly brightened and his heels clicked up in anticipation of the second half of Jenna’s sentence.
“No,” Jenna suddenly regretted it again, “No, nothing, never mind, thank you.”
Jenna tried to squeeze out a bright smile, but pushed the leaping Rocky away again.
Rocky was curious and lost in his heart, but he didn’t want to make things difficult for Jenna, so he only forced a smile, “It’s fine, you can come to me if you have any problems in the future.”
Jenna nodded her head, but in her heart, she was thinking, what is the use of looking for you?
At this time, the door to Keri’s room finally opened.
Jenna could no longer resist rushing over, “Keri, let’s go to class together today.”
Keri stared suspiciously at Jenna, alarm bells ringing in her heart.
She hadn’t forgotten that the last time Jenna had reached out to her, it was to invite her to join the Mutual Aid Society.
Could it be that because she hadn’t attended the exchange a few times, Jenna was trying to drag her in again?
“No.” Kagome rejected Jenna without even thinking about it.
“Korie ……,” Jenna stepped forward to say something before she saw Korie running away from her in a huff, clutching her book and burying her head.
When a stunned Jenna turned around with her mouth open to chase after her, she realized that Keri had already run up the ramp and was gone in a puff of smoke.
Saul didn’t show up for class today, and this wasn’t the first time he’d skipped a public class in its entirety.
Many of the newcomers, the older apprentices, thought that Saul had given up on his studies.
After all, with his natural magic power, it was impossible to pass the third month’s new student test.
As for the consequences of not being able to pass the test, it would depend on how his mentor’s mood was.
Saul, who once excelled because of his strong spiritual power, gradually faded out of the crowd’s view.
Except for a few people, no one cared about this apprentice who always skipped classes.
Kerri was also unclear about Sol’s current learning progress, but she was clear about one thing.
That was that even second level apprentices had to ask Sol for advice on how to construct composite runes.
And this method had also helped Korrie make great progress in her rune research.
With this alone, Korie believed that Saul absolutely crushed the vast majority of people in the classroom in terms of sorcery attainments.
However, this was a secret, Saul did not say it to the public, and Kerri naturally would not divulge it.
It was just that sometimes when Saul didn’t come, she was quite bored.
Today, however, she missed her boring life again.
Because Jenna, who she had just rejected, actually took the initiative to sit next to her again.
Korie immediately got up and changed seats, but Jenna followed as if she were a shadow.
The second level apprentice in charge of explaining Noah’s writing had already stepped up to the podium, and it was never good for Kagome to run around the classroom.
She glared fiercely at Jenna, hugged her book, and directly left the classroom.
Jenna stared dumbfounded at Korie’s back, and then anger blushed her cheeks.
“This Kori, how dare she not show any semblance of classmate friendship?”
But on second thought, Jenna pushed back her displeasure and got up to chase after her.
How could she give up so easily when her life was at stake?
……
In order to avoid the suddenly pestering Jenna, Korie immediately went out of the classroom after the meditation class, didn’t go back to the dormitory, and directly headed for Mentor Guido’s lab.
Only when it was almost eight o’clock did she run back in a huff. “Korie!”
“Ouch!”
The two young girls collided at the passageway of the sixth floor and rolled right into one place.
“You again!” Korie sat up pressing on the small of Jenna’s back and looked at Jenna incredulously.
Was the other girl still the same easily shy girl with this pestering look?
“Ugh!” Jenna frowned and covered her chest with one hand; Kori had just pressed on the bug in her chest.
It hurt!
“What the hell are you doing?” Kori huffed and stood up, arms over her chest, staring condescendingly at Jenna.
Tears seeped from the corners of Jenna’s eyes, only for Kori to be unmoved.
“Put that away, my father’s mistresses are better at crying than you are.”
Jenna was once again stunned.
She knew Kori was condescending and cold, but she had no idea that the other woman’s mouth could be so poisonous as well.
Now that no one was around, Jenna bit her lip hard and flung herself to her knees, tugging at Korrie’s pant leg with both hands.
“Kori, please, tell me how you got rid of the bugs?”
“What bugs?” Seeing Jenna fall to her knees, Kori frowned, not kicking her hands away again after all.
Jenna, however, thought Korrie was playing dumb as she lowered her voice and said vaguely, “It’s the …… Mutual Aid Society.”
Kagome’s face immediately went white for a time.
Mutual aid society bugs?
She remembered being sucked out of her head by Byron-senpai.
Could that be the Mutual Aid Society bug?
But how did Jenna know about it?
“How did you know?” Kori looked down at Jenna.
When Jenna hesitated to say anything, Kori immediately lifted her foot to leave.
Jenna rushed forward and grabbed Kagome’s pants leg once again, saying sadly, “Yes, it was a senior who helped me.”
“Who?” Kagome’s mind conjured up Byron’s appearance.
“The senior didn’t want to reveal his name, saying he didn’t want to antagonize the Mutual Aid Society.”
“Then why don’t you beg the Hokage?”
“He said he wasn’t good at dealing with curses.”
Curses? Didn’t Byron-senpai say it was a parasite? Wasn’t it Hokage Byron?
When Jenna saw that Korrie didn’t say anything or leave, she thought she was hesitating, and a glimmer of hope rose in her heart, so she hurriedly continued to plead.
“Korie, you’re the only newcomer I know of who’s been to the Mutual Aid Society and never went back for a second time. Are you …… you must have a way to get rid of the bugs! Please help me, I’ll give you magic crystals, credits will do!”
But even Senior Byron didn’t want to care about that mutual aid society, and Korie naturally didn’t want to look for trouble.
She also didn’t have the ability to care.
Korrie was free of the Mutual Aid Society’s control, and the Mutual Aid Society might not care about the loss of a newcomer, but if she helped someone else and popped up again, would the Mutual Aid Society revert to her for that reason?
Confronting a powerful force that was already entrenched was a very dangerous act.
“There’s really nothing I can do.” Kagome said stiffly, trying to shake off Jenna’s hand, “I’m just a new apprentice too.”
“Kori, Kori!”
Jenna, seeing that Korie still refused to help her, dropped a line of tears and suddenly withdrew her hand as she ripped the collar off her shirt.
“Look at me.”
What a great body!
The first thing Kori saw was Jenna’s pale chest.
But the second glance brought attention to the even whiter, still gently squirming fat worm on her chest.
“Hmm.”
Kori subconsciously took a half step back, only to feel goosebumps all over her arms.
If she hadn’t been saved by Byron in the first place, would she have such a bug on her chest today?
Korrie took a deep breath and calmly said, “You should go to your mentor in this situation.”
“Mentor?” Jenna shook her head with a bitter smile, “My mentor is none other than Senior Rokai’s mentor.”
At first, Jenna was the one who saw that Senior Rokai was particularly warm and relatable before she firmly chose her mentor Anze, whose elemental attributes were not the first to suit her.
Nowadays, the mentor had only met him once, not even a word, and had only crossed paths with Luo Kai.
But the intersection is that mutual aid society.
Now, knowing the horrors of the Mutual Aid Society, Jenna was no longer sure if any of them were her mentor Anze’s handiwork, and how could she dare to ask Anze for help?
Wouldn’t that be a sheep in the wolf’s mouth?
