Chapter 50: Rehabilitation is too good to be true
Chapter 50: Reformation is too good to be true
Saul was stunned, and his first thought was, how much is not a loss to sell?
But Byron was clear that a successful generalized transformation formula as a cornerstone was enough to establish a small wizard power.
But Byron could only bully Saul for being a level one newcomer and took the opportunity to buy at a low price.
Although it couldn’t have been a buyout, Byron was also extremely ashamed.
It wasn’t an exchange of equivalents because he currently had no equivalents.
Saul seriously considered it, but rejected Byron.
“I’m sorry senior, it’s not that I won’t give it to you. It’s just that with this transformation formula, I’m afraid I’m the only one who can succeed.”
This transformation was actually very dangerous.
Under normal circumstances, a first level apprentice, who didn’t even know what a locator was, could only wait for the gradual collapse of his consciousness and finally death to slowly descend in the delusional bliss gained from the sorcerous body transformation.
However, Saul had props that were inherently suitable to act as a locator – the Death Sorcerer’s Diary.
Although Saul was still unclear about the specific meaning of the locator, after this experiment, he had some guesses.
It was something that allowed a sorcerer or apprentice to fix their perception of the world.
There was the existence of the Death Wizard’s Diary – so troublesome, I’ll just call it a diary from now on.
Even if Byron hadn’t shown up, Saul wouldn’t have died.
Once Saul was on the verge of death, the diary would jump out to show its presence. Seeing the diary at the same time, Saul would fix his consciousness from collapsing and dissipating.
But when Saul thought back now, that feeling of cognitive collapse, misplaced consciousness, and the gradual collapse and dissipation of his mental body was truly horrifying!
“Targeting the only transformation formula?” Unexpectedly, Byron listened to Saul’s words and instead breathed a sigh of relief, “Then I can afford it. I’m not looking to do a transformation, but I want to understand your formula design ideas.”
“I still owe you a condition …… and now owe you at least a hundred credits equivalent.” Byron suddenly felt poor, “Is there anything you want now?”
Saul was stunned, he hadn’t said anything yet, and Senior Byron automatically signed the deed of sale?
“Senior, why don’t you help me check my physical state first?”
Although Byron felt that this matter wasn’t even worth mentioning as a reward to Sol, he nevertheless cheerfully pulled out a bunch of things from his stomach.
With the help of the experienced – having been a second level apprentice for at least a dozen years – Elder Byron, Saul finally gained some understanding of his current situation.
His magic power was 11 joules for the time being, and based on the energy escaping outwards from his left hand, it would be possible to raise his magic power to at least 13 joules before his left hand was completely stabilized.
And Saul’s mental power had also increased by a small margin.
This was rare, probably because that fantastically out-of-control experience had tempered Saul’s mental power.
The improvement of spiritual power was unlike magic power, which relied on meditation, and even if it was slow, it would gradually build up.
Spiritual power, however, was like a basic human attribute, and except for a few witch body modifications, rare potions, ability promotions and other special situations, it was difficult to drastically improve it.
It’s still that example of using a container to get water.
The bowl of an apprentice with low magical talent can eventually be replaced with a larger one.
And running to fetch water is only a hundred meters and nine seconds faster.
In addition, although Saul’s left hand was a bit ugly, much like a fake hand, it didn’t affect his movement and remained flexible.
The remodeling of the hand was safer than those remodeling formulas that remodeled the eyes, mouth, and internal organs, and the after-effects would be much smaller.
But what the specific after-effects were, it was up to Saul himself to slowly figure out in the future.
“Guard your consciousness.”
These were the words Byron repeatedly cautioned Saul with.
“Or one day, you won’t be you.”
Saul felt that this statement could be interpreted as staying true to yourself and always being clear about who you are.
He recalled the anime and novels he had read in his previous life, the games he had played, the tests he had taken, the social animals he had fucked ……
Well, there was nothing wrong with that so far.
Byron also explains the “locator” to Saul.
This knowledge was not something that the current Saul should have mastered, but who let him use the locator to complete the witch body transformation?
Now, Saul only needed to raise his magic power to 50 joules and build a 1st level spell model in his spiritual body, and he would successfully become a 2nd level apprentice.
And after becoming a 2nd level apprentice, Saul only needed to continue to raise his magic power and learn sorcery to become a 3rd level apprentice.
After all, he already had the necessary locator to become a 3rd level apprentice.
Saul had conquered the most difficult barrier to overcome before someone’s third level at the rookie stage.
Now Saul finally understood why Byron was still looking at him with a bit of envy and condescension in his eyes. He had just started kindergarten and had gotten a guaranteed place in college.
The rest is just waiting for someone to grow up.
Byron didn’t ask Saul how he did it or what Saul’s locator was.
“Before becoming a full-fledged wizard, don’t tell others any information about your locator, and don’t probe others’ locators. If you are targeted by someone who utilizes the characteristics of the locator, there is almost only one end, death.”
Sol nodded.
This was like the lifeblood of a martial arts practitioner, being hit by someone else and spilling his guts.
Finally, Byron told Saul how to do a test on his left hand’s ability to examine specific attributes.
The original purpose of the witch body transformation was not to enhance the apprentice’s magic power, this was just the most basic part.
The truly powerful witch body transformation, like Byron, like Kong Sha, transformed places that could become their killer apps.
Speaking of which, the wounds on Byron’s body healed once again.
He shook.
Byron had ga’d himself a dozen times today.
His brain was running low on blood supply.
Byron declined Saul’s offer to take him back and staggered out of the second floor of the East Tower on his own.
And Saul took another look at the time and realized it was only half past five.
He sat back down in front of the lab bench and looked at the messy desktop, having the feeling that ten days had already passed.
His eyes, gradually, fell to his left shoulder.
The mouth cracked open.
“Remodeling, it’s so damn cool!”
……
Jenna clutched her collared shirt tightly, her face ham-fisted as she cowered on her cot in her dorm room.
The school dorms were the safest place to be.
She’d always thought so, too.
That’s why even if the studies during the day were hard, and the tutors and seniors she met were scary, she was able to get a good night’s sleep when she came back at night.
But today, she really couldn’t sleep.
She pulled back her collar once again, and her pupils shifted down to stare at her chest.
Jenna had come from a pretty good background, her body had developed early, and her figure was already taking shape.
Occasionally she would sneak a peek at her body in the shower.
But today, she saw a worm in the center of her chest.
The worm had crawled out of her breastbone precisely, but it was only the length of an index finger and didn’t look very lethal.
The scary thing was that the bug actually had Jenna’s own face!
“Senior Sid was right, we really have been controlled.” Jenna didn’t dare to look at it again, burying her head into her pillow, “In all the world, where is there a truly selfless organization?”
“Why did the Mutual Aid Society take a shot at a bunch of us newbies?”
Jenna couldn’t figure out, why would such a relatable Senior Rokai, and her companions who discussed issues together, put such a terrible curse on her?
“If it wasn’t for Elder Sid reminding me ……,” a look of fascination flashed in the young girl’s eyes, but it was quickly replaced by horror, “I’m afraid I’d still be just like everyone else, unaware of the dangers involved. But I’ve already been cursed, what should I do?”
Jenna’s toes continued to curl, crumpling the sheets.
“Unfortunately, Cid-senpai isn’t very good at undoing curses, and he wouldn’t dare openly confront Rokai.” Jenna’s brow furrowed again, “What can I, a newcomer, do to get out of the Mutual Aid Society’s control?”
Suddenly, something came back to Jenna’s mind.
“Right, Keri, Keri, she only attended the Mutual Aid Society once and never came back. Could it be that she realized the problem a long time ago?”
“Damn it, why didn’t she warn us about it?”
