Chapter 31: This Damned Physique

Chapter 31: This Hellish Physique
A whole month after enrollment.

The new apprentices had not seen the outside sunlight for a whole month, and even Duke, who was the darkest-looking, had begun to change his skin color to a miserable white.

Not to mention Saul.

He spent all day studying and working with corpses. His face turned as pale as a dead man. There were also two dark circles under his eyes.

You don’t need to put on makeup to play a ghost in the middle of the night.

He had skipped public classes for three consecutive days.

If it wasn’t for the fact that the corpse room couldn’t be occupied at night, he would have wanted to hunker down and not come out.

But today, his research came to a standstill, and he came out to look for ideas.

There were four or five transformation ideas recorded in Grimm’s Cognition of Sorcerous Body Transformation, but there were no specifics on what materials to utilize and how to go about the transformation process.

Come to think of it, that kind of knowledge couldn’t be shown to just anyone.

It was either some people’s undercard or the inheritance of a certain power.

The book also said that even with mature sorcerous body modification ideas, there was a high probability of death.

And trying to rediscover a brand new transformation method would not see the light of day without taking hundreds or thousands of lives.

The few second level apprentices that Saul knew had definitely gone through witch body transformation, but the one with whom he had the best relationship was Senior Mark.

When Saul arrived at the lab, there was only Mark and Angela inside, but Duke was nowhere to be seen.

When Angela saw Saul, she pursed her lips and smiled a bit awkwardly.

Saul nodded his head in response, but he didn’t expect Angela to look as if she was startled, her hands shook, and she almost didn’t hold the book in her hand.

The two of them just met and nodded in friendship, Saul walked to Senior Mark at the very back of the lab.

The latter seems to be doing some kind of experiment, but also seems to be cooking, carelessly put something into the crucible, but also that wooden spatula stirring stirring.

Saul stood three meters away and observed for a while, and could only sigh that it was worthy of majoring in dark attribute elements, and the materials put into the crucible all looked so sinister.

After putting in the last mass of what looked like hair or kelp, Mark covered the transparent glass lid and turned down the fire under the crucible.

He smiled sideways and greeted Saul, “Haven’t seen you in a few days, you’ve improved quite a bit.”

“Senior Mark.” Sol stepped forward, “I have a few questions I would like to ask.”

“Oh?” Mark absently removed his gloves and tossed them into the trash can at his feet, “You have magic crystals?”

“Uh-huh.”

“Which ones?”

“The Witch Body ……,” Saul said only two words, then stopped.

Mark’s movements lurched and he looked up to Angela in the distance, “Angela, you’re going home for the day.”

Without saying anything, Angela grabbed her books and ran out, still keeping the door to the lab closed.

“Do you really intend to perform witch body transformation? This is usually a field that only second level apprentices get involved in.”

“I went for a test, and my current magic power is only 4. If I don’t undergo a witch body transformation, Mentor Katz won’t rule that I passed the test in three months.”

After a month of meditation, Saul’s magic power had only grown by 1 joule, and at this rate, it would take another six months to reach 10 joules.

But he only had two months left.

“Well ……,” Mark rested his chin, “Actually, since the mentor has already given you the work of the corpse room, he shouldn’t be that strict anymore.”

“But Mentor never said anything about changing the tests.” Saul didn’t want to bet on it.

Although the hardback book gave death warnings, it tended to only jump out and show its presence when a life and death crisis was close at hand. If one stepped into a desperate situation where no matter what the choice was, one would die, then the Hardcover Book would be useless even if it jumped out.

Like the night Saul almost died in the lab.

If Pink Da hadn’t shown up, Saul couldn’t have escaped death.

Although the process was miserable, it also allowed Saul to figure out one thing.

Even in a desperate situation, it is not without a chance of survival, so their own efforts are still very important.

If Saul hadn’t insisted on saving himself at that time, he probably wouldn’t have been able to wait for Pink Da Lu to pass by.

“Raising the magic power to 10 joules isn’t without other methods.”

“But Senpai,” Saul spread his hands, “I don’t have that much money, or enough credits, and mostly I don’t have the time.”

Mark rubbed his chin, “Looks like you’ve made up your mind. So ……”

He held out his hand to Saul, “2 credits, no magic crystals accepted.”

The 3 credits that just arrived ……

Sol exhaled, “Deal, want to go to the registration room first?”

Mark, however, withdrew his hand, “If it was someone else, then sure, but since it’s you, I can take credit for half an hour first.”

Half an hour?

That is to say, take twenty days of hard labor and exchange it for half an hour of knowledge.

Mark sat down, “I remember you once copied a book about witch body transformation, so you should already have some knowledge about witch body transformation. Now, do you have any thoughts on the transformation of your body?”

“The cheapest and most effective material I have around me right now is corpse material. That’s why my remodeling plan is also to refine the parts of these materials that can effectively enhance elemental perception and magic power.”

Mark lost his smile, “No wonder you’re getting more and more like a dead man now.”

He added a slightly serious tone and sat up straight, “The fact that you were chosen to work in the corpse room means that you are more sensitive to spirit bodies, if you then remodel yourself with corpse materials, do you know what will happen?”

Saul’s eyes widened.

“You’d be prone to bumping into the spooky and the spooks would be happy to come after you.”

That means it’s easy to see ghosts?
“Are there a lot of ghosts in the Wizard’s Tower?”

“Scared? Haha …… “Mark looked at Saul’s hesitant look and laughed as he answered, “Not many, and most of them have various restrictions. Because the ghosts and monsters in the Sorcerer’s Tower are basically created by sorcerers and high sorcerer apprentices utilizing certain sorceries. But even so, you could accidentally get into all sorts of trouble, most of the ghosts and monsters are lonely, and they will desperately seek out ordinary people who can see and hear them, but are not in danger.”

“I see, as long as I can get stronger, I can fight off the ghosts and monsters.” Saul raised his fist, one of the white bone hands so prominent.

Not feeling comforted by the teenager’s small amount of courage, Mark gave Saul one last word of caution.

“Keep in awe at all times, Saul, fear comes from the unknown, terror is born from the unknown, and only the unknown is endless.”

After the admonition, he did not advise Saul any further, but began to explain the part of the corpse material that was suitable to be used for witch body transformation.

Because he couldn’t tell Saul about the already existing knowledge of witch body transformation – Mark didn’t know the rest, and Saul couldn’t afford it – he focused on prompting some precautions, such as which types of materials couldn’t be together, and that something would definitely happen; and also, for example, those reactions in the experiments that could mean life-threatening.

Finally, Mark recommended two more material subjects-skin and bone.

These two were large, easier to inscribe runes on, helped Saul control them, and were also a bit safer.

And similar to the brain, eyes and other materials, Saul is best not to touch, generally without the strength of a third-class apprentice, it is difficult to adapt.

“Like me ……” Mark raised his right hand, the palm of his hand cracked open a mouth, inside sticking out a bright red tongue, more than a meter long, stretched out in front of Saul’s eyes, seemingly wanting to lick a bite.

“I spent a large sum of money, exchanged in the tower with a higher success rate of the witch body transformation formula, and then combined with my own physique to transform. And by that time, I was already a level two apprentice.”
