Chapter 21 Mourning Ceremony

Chapter 21 Mourning Wood Ceremony
Technically speaking, this was a 4 vs 3 fight.

Even the numbers weren’t fair, not to mention the vastly different fighting qualities of the individuals ……

And so it ended like a windfall.

The three elves were two dead and one wounded, and their experience was like nesting milk swallows, tinkling as they merged into Heine’s body.

His chest was hot with a subtle feeling that he seemed to be able to help his skeleton level up again soon.

With his last experience in the haunted farm, combined with his familiarity with various game settings, Heine also realized something.

He could assign experience to his summons, but it required some sort of method.

With the method not yet mastered, it could only be used in times of crisis, which was more like a stress instinct.

As for his own upgrades, there was a guess as well.

Perhaps none of the experience he harvested would help him upgrade until all of his skeletons caught up to his level.

He shook his head to clear it of his wild thoughts, and pressed his electric shock mace against the forehead of the one remaining female elf.

The other was the swordsman who had rushed at him at first.

Expected to be a brave fellow, he didn’t realize that at the moment he was scared out of his wits, a puddle of stale water staining open underneath him.

She was both the one who cursed the most viciously in the battle and the one who tried to escape the first time, and was hit in the crook of her calf by one of Sa General’s arrows.

“Tell me who you are and what you are doing here.”

“I …… us, we are the scout, scout …… of the Whispering Forest.”

Mr. Sa was puzzled, “Can’t we understand other people’s words?”

In fact, he should have realized this problem last night, but at that time, he had not yet accepted the identity of a traveler.

Catch the Goat: “We can only understand Heine’s words, to be precise, we know what he’s saying, the language is still unintelligible.”

“Pity, I was hoping to hear what lies this elf would tell, none of the elves in the Court of Emerald Leaves are honest.”

Heine sniffed and directly interrupted the female elf’s intermittent explanation.

“I advise you not to lie, it won’t do you any good.”

The female elf instantly blanched.

“I …… I didn’t lie …… ah ah ah ah-“

A bone spear pierced her thigh, pinning her to the ground.

“I told you, this will not benefit you.”

Heine cupped her opponent’s polished chin.

“It’s fine if you don’t answer; I know who commissioned you.

“And I won’t kill you, but I’m angry.

“I’ll nail you here, like a tree, and you won’t bleed dry, just have a few more white branches on you ……”

The elf trembled even more:
“It’s Jangroo, it’s Lord Jangroo! She told us to take you into the forest and trap you! Please spare me …… I’ll never lie again ……”

……

A few minutes later, Heine, who had gotten enough information, kept her word.

Instead of killing the other woman, he nailed her to the ground with a bone spear.

The death aura infested the wound, the blood almost coagulated, and she wouldn’t bleed to death – not in the short term.

Then he had Chief Sahib “overpower” the bodies of the two dead, just as he had done with the first elf.

He had heard the three mention the words “spirit of the forest” before, and with the feeling that he was being watched by the forest, he couldn’t do anything like stripping the dead.

The same goes for killing prisoners, so the elven swordsman survived.

He just took the weapons of the three as trophies, especially the sword that caught fire when activated.

As he had guessed, Jianglu had left the hunting grounds yesterday and issued a commission back to the Court of Emerald Leaves to watch and delay Heine as long as possible.

She had also subtly hinted in the mission not to lay a death wish.

This was partly to protect the person who took the commission, and partly because she was still curious about Mr. Xia’s fundamentally solid skeleton.

She was curious about how Heine did it.

It looked like there was a real shortage of people in the Cuiye Court.

The organization wasn’t as hierarchical, or ranked, as he’d thought it would be.

It was more like an organization similar to a mercenary association.

Jiang Lu issued a commission, and these four people took it and ignored Jiang Lu’s reminder, deciding to just kill this weak Necromancer.

Because they couldn’t do it within the boundaries of the Viscount’s territory, that’s why they lured the enemy in at the very beginning.

Heine even fired a flare for help on her behalf before leaving, but by then the elf had already passed out from pain and fear.

Half an hour later, a gray four-winged giant bird landed here.

The three elves dropped from the bird’s back and began to rescue it with stony faces.

The elf at the head of the group was significantly older, and had curly dark green hair and beard that resembled moss.

He raised his hand and summoned vines to immobilize the survivor’s form, then dispelled some of the bone spears to free her body before he began formal healing.

The remaining two were collecting the remains of the dead.

Suddenly, someone let out a cry of alarm.

“Is …… it a mourning wood ceremony?”

“What?” The full Mourning Wood Ceremony refers to the Wood Elf Archer’s Life and Death Battle and includes this part of the ritual.

The victor was required to lay the body of the defeated under the nearest tree and have his hands protect his heart.

For an ancient community that believes in nature, ritual is as indispensable as breathing.

“What are you talking about?”

Taking care of the survivor’s injuries, Linumu frowned as he approached.

“Chief Caretaker Linumu, take a look at this.”

“This is a courtesy that only the wood elves of the Mourning Wood Forest would use.”

The elf’s voice grew fainter.

He suddenly remembered that someone had said that the Linumu Care Leader in front of him had a thin wood elf bloodline within him, and thus his healing spells were superior to others and favored by the Spirit of Grass and Wood.

“A wood elf?”

Linumu surveyed the two corpses and suddenly looked up thoughtfully into the forest.

Sure enough, he spotted markings on a tree trunk.

He was a little surprised in his mind, how could anyone in the mountains of Makara still know such ancient symbols?

This place is obviously thousands of kilometers away from the Mourning Wood Forest ……

“You guys keep watch here.”

He stepped into the forest after the symbols, coming all the way to Daken’s corpse.

After leaning down to check it out, he placed his finger against Daken’s forehead and mouthed a tongue-twisting incantation.

The response was a bright green glow.

It emerged from the tree beside Daken, and as if it had some kind of spirituality, it hopped up and landed on Linumu’s shoulder, rubbing against his face.

Linumu’s dark green eyebrows twisted together.

It is even more incomprehensible ……

Obviously the killings were created by necromancers, obviously the means of the living were cruel, but uncharacteristically the corpses were not desecrated, and the souls of the grass and trees were not angry ……

Even the defeated were treated with ancient rituals.

Why is this guy so screwed up?

……

On the other hand, Arthur had indeed set out with his men when Heine arrived in town.

As the number one slugger in Ebony Town, Arthur naturally wouldn’t care about the assistance of a necromancer who hadn’t managed to graduate from the Burial Ground.

Although George appreciated Heine, he was just an ordinary man.

His evaluation was not worth mentioning in Arthur’s eyes.

It was probably just that yesterday’s remarks made him think that Heine had a little brain – limited to having a brain, and was therefore valued by his mouth.

“Yikes for being looked down upon.”

Heine sighed and got into the carriage that the lord lent him.

He didn’t rush off either, but went straight to the Silver Bazaar.

He put up three items of loot for consignment in the Lion King’s Trade House, unfortunately the valuation of these three items was only a measly 2 gold coins, of which the sword accounted for 1.5 gold.

What surprised him was that this thing was actually not an enchanted weapon ……

He also bought some decent arrows.

“Level 1 Demon Breaking Arrow 2 gold coins per arrow, five cost 10 gold coins ……

“Level 1 Air Breaking Arrows 2.5 gold coins per arrow, two cost 5 gold coins ……

“Silent vectors 15 per group, three groups totaling 3 gold ……

“Armor piercing arrows 10 per group, three groups totaling 1 gold and 50 silver ……”

Every gold coin that Heine spent out was a goodwill gift to brush to Sa General.

His goodwill towards Heine rubbed off on him and he couldn’t help but marvel:

“Your brothers usually fight such wealthy battles?”

Mr. Xia: “That’s not true, it’s mainly because there’s no place for us brothers to spend money even if we wanted to ……”

Mr. Sa thought about it and felt the same.

As a traveler, he came with a hunter’s most central thing – accuracy.

He was a free-mode player in the game, and he could hit a hundred shots without archery assistance, which was already pretty rascal.

And this profession was even more rogue in the early stages – one could make up for the lack of skill, or even excess, by pulling a full load of enchanted arrows.

Kryptonite is power!

But not so with the other two.

They were no different from ordinary soldiers without skills.

“Haha, dagger warrior, shield warrior!”

“…… You almost got it!!!”
