Chapter 11 Upgrades
Chapter 11 Upgrade
At twilight, the carriage arrived at the forest south of the haunted farm.
Unlike the eerie images Heine had imagined, the scenery here was overly yang.
As the sun set, golden wheat waves rolled in the wind.
But few could have imagined that beneath the scenery lay roaming carrion, blood beasts, flesh harvesters, and hyenas.
Blood Beasts are the product of the Gitilers’ fusion of field mice and mollusk monsters, retaining the former’s ability to reproduce and some of the latter’s appearance, with two legs and a knack for running and jumping.
They are not undead, and will become the dominant “wild beasts” in the fields when the Holy Light comes to the mountains of Makara.
Heine spread out the map and looked at it, while the two men discussed it.
Goat sighed, “I wonder why this is the only farm in the entire Scorched Valley that hasn’t been hit by railguns?”
“Because there’s a railgun storage well hidden here.”
“Huh?”
“Whispering Woods to the east, Haunted Farm to the north, and Eagle’s Nest to the south, that’s a total of three energy storage wells in three directions, or else the advance could have gone so smoothly?”
Sheep Catchers marveled, “Was the betrayal of the Gitil family that complete? Won’t a rooted necromancer like them be liquidated by Eternal Dawn?”
“Only the dungeon 3 boss (Hunter) is a true doppelganger, everyone else was fooled. They thought that thing was a holy light isolation device, but there’s actually nothing wrong with it, the energy storage well gathers all the holy light from dozens of kilometers around, so it’s not just isolation.”
“Is there an elite guarding that place? Can we end it?”
“We can go there, but we may not be able to take it down, and we can run if we can’t beat it. The only problem is that place is in the northeast corner of the farm, the markings on the map given by the npc are all in the southwest corner, south belongs to yes.”
Hearing them say that, Heine quietly turned the map upside down.
It was a scribbled, hand-drawn map with no words, just drawn circles.
He held up the map and pretended to look at it, then suddenly pointed to the northeast corner.
“Take this direction.”
Both men were startled:
“What the hell?”
“Holy shit he’s got the map backwards!”
“What kind of heavenly luck is this, a protagonist’s halo, right?”
……
At first Heine was still restrained.
He let go of his restraints slightly, letting Catching Goat top the front while he and Mr. Xia waited for an opportunity to move.
But with the first hyena cut in half by the bone-chopper, things changed.
The smell of blood spread, and a single stone stirred up a thousand waves!
The blood beasts came quickly, and their riot attracted more hyenas.
Faced with monsters that could come out from different directions at any time, Heine decisively released her restraints completely after a few feigned orders.
“I order you to move freely!”
Now he could finally deal with the monsters rushing towards him with one mind.
Eating experience was one thing, there was always the need to hone combat skills.
Although he couldn’t summon a wandering spirit, Heine was excellent in all his other classes.
Especially after leveling up, he could now cast Bone Spear and two basic curses.
However, with the two skeletons letting go, the three meter range around him was as empty as a road at 4am.
Only ghostly green experience balls flew over, clanking incessantly.
No, where are the wild monsters?
Oh, the wild monsters are queuing up to pass away.
Catching the goat’s anvil with each throw just enough to stun a leaping hyena, who canceled with the shield’s momentum and each came to rest as he stepped forward to remove the shield and dissected his opponent with a square-handed slash.
The motion was smooth as if the hyena had pounced and grabbed the anvil.
The cloak enchanted with a slight jungle shelter made Mr. Xia look like a light brown grasshopper, almost blending in with the wheat.
His movements were nowhere near the level of old Hunter’s that night, but the two daggers that glowed with a faint green light were like fluttering butterflies.
Each rise and fall was accompanied by a hyena whimper or a bloody beast snapping to the ground.
Finally, a slightly noisy hum pierced the silent dusk.
An old harvester appeared accompanied by a flurry of grass stalks.
It was also an undead creature, and instead of attaching to a dead body the wandering spirit attached itself to the scrapped machinery.
The anvil was the first to be thrown, hitting the harvester solidly in the chest.
A crisp ringing sound came out as if the core shattered in response, but the harvester did not stop moving, and Catch Sheep was too late to dodge being cut by the spinning saw, sparks flying from his armor and the sound was ear-splitting.
“Ugh? How is it not paralyzed? Isn’t its core in its chest?”
“It’s an undead creature, your knowledge of mechanical construction is useless.”
Almost simultaneously, a bone spear hit the reaper’s elbow joint.
The huge inertia caused it to stumble backwards, and the arm attached to the saw broke and fell.
“Watch out for attacking its joints.” Heine warned.
Both of them froze. “Goat, NPCs are smarter than you!”
“Ah yes yes yes ……”
……
Northeast corner of the farm.
The Holy Light Storage Shaft is located in an underground mine with a few tents pitched at the entrance, but no miners.
“…… It’s Mr. Donald’s idea, on the hunt in two days, he wants to take care of that kid who doesn’t know what he’s doing.”
A man fully wrapped in a cloak said, “He asked for you by name, Ms. Jiang Lu.”
The named elf grunted disdainfully.
“We are in partnership with Eternal Dawn, not superior or inferior.”
“He said it would make up for your dereliction of duty in advance.”
Jianglu frowned, “What did you say?”
“The cadet who was dropped is accusing the Gitil family, and the Lords are interested in that. If he is still alive, the lord will inevitably investigate the haunted farm, and at that time this place may ……”
“You’re threatening me?”
“I’m just stating the facts.”
Jianglu was about to reply when her pointed ears suddenly twitched.
“You wait here.”
Her figure suddenly disappeared.
……
The other side.
As the battle continued, an unnatural scarlet color surfaced on Heine’s face, and the breath she exhaled was incredibly hot.
The experience he had ingested seemed to have exceeded his limits, and he was somewhat stretched out.
Suddenly, Heine’s mind was alarmed!
His spirit subconsciously focused on Mr. Xia, as if he was going to be heavily …… hit the next second
This intention tugged at the heat in his body, steeply shifting a large portion of it over.
The latter’s white-boned body wrapped in leather armor was suddenly transformed, becoming more and more polished and solid.
His perceptions also suddenly sharpened, especially his premonition of death.
There was a sneak attack?
He immediately turned around and swung his dagger-
Clang!
A strong force came from the dagger and he couldn’t help but take two steps back, but the strike that should have been fatal was blocked.
It appeared so abruptly, and his block was so timely, as if the two had acted in a perfect ensemble play.
“Huh?”
The sneak attacker slowly appeared, an elf wrapped in tight dark purple leather armor.
How did the enemy suddenly become stronger?
At the same time, the anvil that flashed with blood light flew over, interrupting Jianglu’s thoughts.
She flickered like a star and quickly disappeared into thin air.
Teacher Xia snapped, “Brother Yang! Seven o’clock!”
The Bone Chopper immediately swung towards that position!
The air distorted for a split second, an elvish expletive blurted out, followed by the staggering appearance of the slender figure.
Jianglu almost broke her back before she didn’t hit the blade!
How did this guy find me?
However, that wasn’t all.
Almost at the same time she showed up, Slowness, Weakness, and two curses landed lightly on her.
With a whoosh, a bone spear broke through the air, which she dodged with difficulty with an ironclad.
How can this necromancer also predict my position?
Jianglu felt that she was really unlucky, the battle that she thought would be a breeze netted her some strange things!
But she wasn’t worried about being captured.
“Do you think you can capture me?”
Jianglu grunted disdainfully as the smoke grenade slipped from her sleeve.
But before that, Heine had received a warning:
“She’ll use the smoke bomb to escape, I’ll keep an eye on the left hand, and you keep an eye on the right hand, Goat!”
So he squeezed his electric shock mace, waiting for this moment!
Watching the thumb-thin arc of electricity blossom in his field of vision, Jiang Lu only laughed coldly in his heart.
Did she really think that this kind of trick could deal with her?
Her leather armor instantly lit up with a lavender mist, which was enough to deflect most basic elemental spells.
Yet the arc was not directed at her upper body ……
Snap!
Vermillion Dew’s right hand felt like it had been viciously whipped, and the smoke bomb was flung out and picked up by a grasshopper-like figure.
It’s over, it’s played out.
