Chapter 67 66 Farewell, the Old Days of Cadman City [660

(Extra for brother ‘Claws of Frost Teeth’ [1/5])
“Whew.”

Orange-red firelight followed the torch that Lumina had dropped and soared up like a flipping fire snake along the alchemical kerosene she had dumped earlier.

This was clearly spiked kerosene.

The speed at which the fire was rendered was exceedingly fast, and it was fortunate that Lumina had thrown the torch from a distance; if she had been closer, she probably wouldn’t have been able to run in time at this ignition speed.

In just a blink of an eye, the two alleys in front of her were wrapped in bright flames, and the shadows of the obstacles around them were stretched out under the dancing embers, but Lumina could hear some subtle popping noises, like the screams of something being ignited in the flames.

It made her eyes widen and she grabbed the shotgun in her hand again.

Being attacked by the Star Realm Mountain Dogs just now reminded her of her true strengths, she was probably still better suited to shooting from afar than melee combat fighting, it was just a shame that she had just gotten her hands on Elven Swordsmanship, and she wondered if there was a profession that could combine both long range and melee combat?
“Ow.”

A miserable hiss interrupted Lumina’s imagination as she immediately raised her gun and aimed it at the fire in front of her, and then saw the invisible derivatives of despair struggling through the burning smoke and surging out of the fire beyond, as if fleeing to get away from the blazing flames.

But before they could run far, their forms were dry-shattered by one of Lumi’s lead bullets, turning into black wisps of smoke that were again engulfed by the blazing fire.

“Effective!”

Lumina looked at the shadows of the Astral Plane in the alley in front of her that were constantly being consumed and engulfed by the flames, leaving only a gray ash where the flames had burned.

It seemed that Lord Murphy’s plan already had the basis for success, the next step was just to sprinkle this alchemical fire oil all over the ruins of the entire outer city, and then set it on fire and all would be well.

She looked at the completed “Burning Test” quest on her player interface, shouldered her gun and hummed a song, carrying the odd bone she had just picked up from the Star World Mountain Dogs, and walked towards the defense line to find Mrs. Tris to hand in her quest.

Lord Murphy is not here, do not know where to go.

“Well, this Star Realm palate bone is of good quality, looks like you got lucky, little girl.”

Maintaining her trademark half-drunken stance, Lady Tris sat down at the alchemy table, pinching the special material Lumina had turned in to distinguish it for a moment before nodding her head in satisfaction and asking:
“Is there anything you want? I can trade you the mysteries of spiritual energy for this material.”

Mrs. Tris would look both bewitching and benevolent this time, but she was actually happy in her heart.

The crystallization of the raging astral spiritual energy contained in the bones of such astral creatures left behind in the material world was a rare material in the spiritual energy circles elsewhere, but now she only needed to pay a little bit of elementary spiritual energy knowledge to fool these cute little warriors.

As her little Murphy had said, after familiarizing herself with the way these little warriors acted, she really grew to like these ever-energetic, ever-risk-averse and ill-informed, easily-satisfied cuties.

Their courage clearly needed to be put to more sensible use, such as helping themselves to fine wine or helping themselves to some rare and expensive materials.

Lumina had known before that she could exchange rare dropped materials for some handwritten notes on psychic skills from Lady Tris, but as a solo player she didn’t brush her copies so she hadn’t planned on having such an opportunity, and now that she heard Lady Tris’s query she was a bit bewildered herself.

After thinking for a moment, she carefully said:

“Do you have any elf-style psychic energy books here?”

“Elf?”

Under the precise translation of the arithmetic pearl, Tris understood Lumina’s thoughts, but she frowned and said:
“Why would you be interested in those conservative and xenophobic guys? They’re not kind characters, that ‘Bridge of Heaven’ war between the Castilian elves and the Songhai people 300 years ago shocked the continent, that was the first time we realized the great power possessed by those guys who believe in Nature’s Avalon but shunned the world and lived in seclusion.

Little girl, you should be more cautious.

I mean, stay away from those dangerous things.”

However, after seeing that Lumina’s expression did not change, Mrs. Tris knew that her warning was in vain.

Then associating it with the fact that Little Murphy had asked her to secretly take care of looking after this bold and careful girl, so after thinking about it, Mrs. Tris drew out a scroll, and with elegant movements, put up her pen to write.

After nearly five minutes, the scroll was iterated and handed to Lumina.

“This is one of the elven spells I remember, but you can’t use it now.”

Hearing Lady Tris’ words, Lumina immediately took it in surprise and activated the item identification on the player interface, and soon, the simple description surfaced:
Name: Tris’s Magic Handbook – Eye of the Wilderness
Effect: Learning the natural psychic skill – Eye of the Wilderness, summoning a psychic sentinel owl and channeling that psychic ability allows the user to maneuver the owl for over-the-horizon observation, maintaining the over-the-horizon observation state until the psychic ability is depleted and allowing up to three psychic markers to be placed in the target area.

In terrain with an abundance of natural psychic energy, the Eye of the Wilderness is more effective and less energy intensive and allows the user to initiate short-range psychic communication with the target.

Tip!

The Sentinel Owl summoned by this spell possesses [Natural Concealment] and [Psychic Concealment], making it difficult to be detected by enemies.

Please note that this advanced detection spell can be interfered with by complex psychic environments.

Requirement: learning this technique requires Civ ≥ 12
Item Description:

[This psionic spell originates from a special variant of the Elven Ranger’s ‘Wilderness Sentinel’ technique, its greatest advantage is that after Lady Tris’s improvement it makes the chances of the spell being monitored much lower, thus effectively increasing the user’s safety.

However, it would be best if you don’t ask Lady Tris in detail about where she learned this alien spell, it is related to a certain experience from her youth].

“Civ 12 to learn it?”

Lumina glanced at her character interface, although her thinking was at a full value of 8 points, according to the explanation of the game’s power rank, she not only had to complete the Black Iron Trial, but she also had to add those precious free attribute points towards her thinking after her rank was raised in order to fulfill the learning conditions.

But wouldn’t that mess up one’s career plan?

“What else is troubling you?”

Mrs. Tris asked casually when she saw the young player’s worries.

Lumina spoke her thoughts through the translation function, and upon hearing that she didn’t want to give up either her Shooting specialty or her Elven Secret Sword Technique, and that she also wanted to learn the Spiritual Energy spells of the elves, Madame Tris immediately revealed a helpless expression.

What’s wrong with this child?

Has his head been kicked hard by an Astral Realm cow? The result of wanting everything in the way of power is often not specialized enough, even if you are talented, you can’t withstand such a scourge ah!

However, for the sake of Little Murphy, she still exerted a bit of “wisdom of elders”, so she mentioned to Lumina:

“According to your request, I’m afraid the most suitable profession I can think of for you is ‘bard’.

That is from the orthodox elven inheritance, not outstanding in all aspects but a typical jack-of-all-trades, although the human poets, I always feel that it is not authentic, but if you can find someone willing to teach you these skills, you may be able to get what you want.

However, child, I would advise you not to give up the path of psychic ability or ranger.

Your talents might be better suited for that.”

“Thank you for your advice, ma’am.”

Lumina brightened up, and she immediately took out from her bag a few bottles of the good wine she had just scavenged and served, causing Tris to immediately raise her eyebrows, and, a little more impressed with the quick-witted and knowledgeable young girl in front of her, she simply reminded once again: “I remember, in the ‘Blood’s Tooth’ tavern in the inner city, there is an old lady who is always full of vigor, when she was young, she seemed to have traveled to the elf’s territory and also sang a good song.

She was most likely a bard with a hidden identity, but that was over a hundred years ago.

If you can find her relics or notes, you might be able to find some clues.”

Lumina hurriedly recorded this information in her player interface, now she really realized the importance of “goodwill” in this game, and she had gained another key piece of information.

In the past few days, she had been purposefully collecting all kinds of drinks as gifts for Tris while she was scavenging, and now it seemed that her efforts had not been in vain.

But the inner city .
That place was still covered in astral energy right now… I guess we’d have to wait until the outer city of Cadman City had been recaptured before a new map would be opened, wouldn’t we?

Lumina left with her harvest full, intending to go around the city again.

After she left, Tris sipped her wine while waiting until ? Murphy and Missy, who were operating undercover, and Maxim escorted three carriages out of the city quietly along with Adele.

“Got it?”

Tris asked and Murphy nodded, tapping the wagon beside him:

“The three underground cores of the Serenade Spiritual Energy Grand Boundary were retrieved without a hitch, so check their status.”

“There’s no need.”

Tris said with a lazy wave of her hand:

“That kind of grade is in two states, as long as it hasn’t shattered open it won’t break, after all, it’s a strategic grade Spiritual Energy item can’t be as fragile as you think, this thing is in hand so we’re going to burn the city next?”

“Uh-huh.”

Murphy said with a nod:
“The militia of the survivor camp will use kerosene to gradually burn down the city for the next two days, eventually advancing to where the star boundary rift is to confirm the new boundary. Those hard to reach places on the edge of the outer city ruins will be ‘airdropped’ by Missy and Adele.

Only after burning up those shadows will this place truly belong to us.

Also the bad situation you predicted earlier has already occurred, according to my warriors’ reconnaissance of the sewer area, hordes of ghouls and their ‘cousins’ the water ghosts have already appeared under the ruins .
The death spirit energy in the Transylvania region does not converge, so this transformation is a bit too fast, isn’t it?”

“Fast? I still think it’s slow.”

Tris grunted, putting on the cold and arrogant expression that a Spiritual Energy Lord should have, and said:
“The Spiritual Energy of the Material World is filtered through the Astral Realm, and it is pointless to pursue further subdivision in front of the raging Spiritual Energy of these sources, which originally possessed the shared characteristics of various Spiritual Energy.

The appearance of the ghouls is only the first step, the more troublesome grievous spirits are yet to come.

After burning away the astral shadows on the surface of the city, it was time to deal with these ghosts next.

Your warriors seem to be practicing some rather peculiar methods of management in the camp though, I heard them discussing something like ‘pot luck’ or something like that in the heat of the moment there today”

Tris asked a little worried, knowing the little player’s background:

“Is it really okay to just let them do that?”

“If it’s a way that has been proven to work, then there’s no reason for us to worry.”

Murphy spoke to Tris in a subtle tone.

The latter froze for a moment before realizing that Murphy was saying that their warriors might be adopting management methods from the Otherworld.

She nodded and did not ask any more questions.

“War Chief! There’s a problem over at Cadman City!”

Two hours after nightfall that night, in the temporary camp of the witch hunters, a white oak scout walked quickly into Old Finok’s tent and exclaimed to War Leader Old Finok, who was meticulously polishing the Great Oak Sacred Blade:
“There is a fire rising over the ruins!
Its flames of light even penetrated the shroud of the shadow of the Astral Plane, allowing us to see it visually from our observation point. We suspect that something has gone wrong in the city, causing the entire city to burn.

Perhaps the strange vampire had a run-in with the civilians he oppressed?”

“Hmm?”

The old knight wearing only a singlet looked up in surprise.

He carried his holy blade behind his back and followed the scouts quickly to a high point outside the camp, then used his scouting binoculars to look out in the direction of Cadman City.

The light of the burning fire was exceptionally dazzling under the dark night.

But the war-experienced old knight immediately judged that it wasn’t the whole city burning in flames; he knew quite a bit about this sort of thing, probably because he had experienced something similar in his life of conquest.

And more than once.

“It wasn’t! The flames of light were too small and not intense enough to ignite at most a small part of the city, this was arson with conscious planning.”

The old knight put down his binoculars and said in a deep voice:

“They seem to be using the flames to fight the overflowing Astral Shadows, which is a very good alternative in the absence of a dedicated Purification Psychic.

But it’s really beyond my imagination that vampires would actually use fire on their own accord.

As I recall, using flames to purify filth and darkness is an ancient tradition of the townspeople of Transylvania, isn’t it?”

“Yes, Lord War Chief, a similar custom does circulate locally, and it is said to be a method that was summarized a long time ago during their ancestors’ confrontations with vampires.”

A scout with slight knowledge of local customs responded:

“Such a method can’t be wrong, flames can indeed be utilized in many exorcism rituals, but are we just going to let those vampires reclaim their city? Perhaps we should attack while they’re not ready?

With the information we have so far, there is no way those vampires will be able to stop us with you at the helm!”

“It is time to advance, but not to attack.”

Old Finok shook his head and said in a deep voice:

“Those vampires and their blood servants can’t escape us! The astral rift will close tomorrow, and that’s when we’ll launch our operation.

But remember our mission, Hunters.

The few scattered vampires and their bloodsuckers are not enough; confirming the death of Salokdar and the destruction of the Blood Wyverns is the top priority!
I know that more or less all of you who have survived the war so far have blood on your hands, but if I find you unable to control your depraved desire for destruction and turn your swords on the survivors, then I will not be merciful!”

“I taught physics, never taught them magic, much less slapped an evil god, kicked a demon king, and struck down a god’s kingdom All rumors about me are baseless slander.” Raine*Tesla said as such.
