Chapter 100 First Steps to Testing and Mastery
Chapter 100: The First Step of Testing and Control
After confirming that Alice did not react to any of the “keywords” and did not know anything about the “decapitation” ability, Duncan decided to tell the confused cursed doll what he had just learned.
Because at this time he has already had a hidden conjecture: perhaps the key to the anomaly 099 – Doll Hearse is actually not Alice the doll …… but her “hearse”.
Boundless sea wind and waves gentle, the cabin with the wind and waves gently rocking, the oil lamp wavering in the light, the ghost captain slowly recounted the past and present life of the mannequin casket – and then the mannequin almost shrank into a ball in fear.
Duncan looked expressionlessly at Alice, who was already sitting in the corner of the bed, her back against the wall holding her head, “Are you as nervous as that?”
“This …… this sounds really scary!” Alice’s tone changed, like an ordinary human girl who had just listened to a ghost story, “What indiscriminate beheading, what stopping when the range is dead, what constantly expanding the territory …… this this …… this I have no idea! I don’t know!”
“I now believe that you really don’t know,” Duncan glanced at Alice, “but this is indeed anomalous 099-Personal Hearse information.”
Alice held her head and looked at Duncan with a stiff neck, “That ……”
“So I now have two guesses, firstly, the aforementioned ‘decapitation’ deed might be an ability that you unconsciously unleashed, because you yourself are an anomaly, your power is most likely just a passive ranged special effect, even your previous ‘slumbering ‘ state, it doesn’t affect the beheading effect.”
Duncan said, slowly rising from his chair as he made his way to the ornate wooden crate and touched it with the front of the longsword in his hand.
“Secondly, the ‘decapitation’ power of the mannequin casket may not come from you, the mannequin, but from your ‘casket’.”
“Hearse …… you mean my box?” Alice’s eyes slowly widened, her gaze subconsciously falling on the wooden crate next to her bed as Duncan moved, the afterthought mannequin seemingly reacting at this point: “You mean ……”
“The full name of Anomaly 099 is ‘Mannequin Hearse’ …… In other words, you and your wooden crate combined are the full ‘Anomaly 099 ‘, and I subconsciously assumed that you were the ‘dominant part’ of it when I first met you …… because at that time I wasn’t sure about the ‘Doll Hearse ‘ as a complete name,” Duncan rubbed his chin as he pondered, “Now that I think about it, the term ‘Doll Hearse’ …… itself its focus seems to be the second half?”
Alice blinks, her head running quite a bit before finally slapping her face, “Oh! I came with this box!”
Duncan gave the lackadaisical mannequin an expressionless look, “…… You could have said that without such a proud tone.”
Alice, however, seemed as if she didn’t hear the derision in Duncan’s tone, she just gave her crate a preoccupied look, her tone a bit fretful, “So then …… my crate has been giving ‘decapitations’? But I’ve lived in it for so long, and I don’t think it’s so evil and dangerous …… And I don’t feel that it has any special powers ……”
“Nonsense, you are part of the whole anomaly 099, can you refer to your feelings?” Duncan frowned, “And if you touch your neck, I suspect that the reason your head falls off every other day is because you sleep in this box for a long time!”
Alice immediately felt that the captain was right, her expression immediately complicated, but immediately after that she was a little confused, “But if …… ‘decapitation’ is the inherent attribute of my casket, then it’s been on the ship for such a long time, why haven’t I seen its ability? It’s been on the ship for such a long time, how come I haven’t seen its ability activated?”
As soon as she said this, she met Duncan’s slyly watching gaze, and the after-knowing Miss Mannequin instantly felt an unspeakable pressure clanging on her head – she had been living on the ship for a while in a relaxed manner, and only then did she suddenly recall what kind of character the captain in front of her was.
Duncan just gazed at the mannequin in silence, waiting for Alice to shrink into an even smaller ball before saying quietly, “The only other humanoid creature on this ship besides you is me, what do you mean ……”
“Mean nothing!” Alice almost jumped up and hurriedly said while waving her hands, “You listen to my sophistry, I mean this box ……”
“It’s not like I said I was going to do anything to you,” Duncan looked at her helplessly, “You’re a member of the crew of the Lost Country now, and I’m your protector on the Boundless Sea, so you don’t have to be so scared – can you sit properly? It makes it look as if I’ve done something to you.”
Alice then let out a sigh and slowly moved back to the edge of the bunk, but Duncan’s mind was flooded with other thoughts because of Alice’s interruption – yes, regardless of whether the main body of the Doll Hearse was a Doll or a Hearse, Abnormality 099 had been on board the Lost Country for so long that it had exceeded its “check-up” every time it was performed. “The anomaly has always been in a harmless state,……, which is obviously due to suppression.
Then suppressed it, is the lost country ship, or his own “captain”?
Duncan looked down at his hands. He knew that he was in possession of considerable power, power that not only allowed him to take over the life of the cultist named “Ron”, but also so powerful and strange that it could make Alice, the superior anomaly, tremble at first glance, and make “Dog”, the demon of the abyss, tuck his tail between his legs. “He doesn’t know what the nature of this power is yet, but it doesn’t stop him from gradually recognizing his own peculiarities.
On the other hand, the Lost Country is the fifth most powerful vision in the Boundless Sea – a “vision”, not an abnormality.
This meant that as long as one was within the range of the Lost Country, there was a “field” that was in effect twenty-four hours a day, constantly exerting influence on all targets within the range.
With the suppression of the captain + ship, the anomaly 099 is naturally harmless, but if he really follows the plan to bring Alice to the city of Plainland …… then the situation is likely to get out of control.
Therefore, he must figure out a series of things – is the subject of the effect produced by Anomaly 099 the doll Alice, or is it this wooden box? Is it himself, the captain of the ship, or the Lost Country that is producing the suppression of Anomaly 099? If Alice and the crate are separated, will the effect of Anomaly 099 still occur? If it is the captain himself who is suppressing the effect, what is the distance of the suppression?
His thoughts stretched out-
If it is the “casket” that produces the decapitation effect, is it safe to bring Alice to the city of Prand alone? If the “casket” was an anomalous element that could be detached, could his own flames also affect it alone? If the flame was used to completely dominate the casket, would it be equivalent to controlling the original uncontrolled decapitation effect? Like using the flames to control Aey and the brass compass?
A long list of questions ran through Duncan’s mind, which in turn grew into a complex set of controlled tests, but at the end of the program he realized one thing with frustration:
He lacked many of the conditions necessary to conduct the tests.
The Lost Country wasn’t a qualified testing ground, since the power of the ghost ship would interfere with the accuracy of the results, and he didn’t have a suitable target for the test – since Anomaly 099’s decapitation effect was more kryptonian …… kryptonian “tester “Lives.
Duncan looked up at Alice, who was sitting honestly on the edge of the bed – the doll lady was looking at her favorite crate with some sadness, and all the kinks in her mind seemed to be imprinted on her face.
Seemingly noticing the captain’s sight, Alice suddenly broke the silence, she whispered, “From the day I became conscious …… I have been living in this crate, it is my bed, it is my home, and it is also my shelter, when I sleep in it, I will feel very safe. ”
Duncan didn’t say anything, just looked at the mannequin in front of him quietly.
“I know now why those humans were so afraid,” Alice reached out and gently caressed her crate, “It was ‘us’ they were afraid of.”
“I was planning on taking you to the city-state of Prand on my next Spirit Walk,” Duncan said in a hushed voice, “I’ll need a hand over there.”
Alice’s eyes seemed to light up for a moment, but then dimmed immediately afterward, “Ah, that’s not good ……”
“Plans have been delayed, but not canceled,” Duncan’s expression and tone didn’t change much, “We just need more time to confirm that you ……’y’all ‘ power and master the conditions for this ‘decapitation’ effect to take effect. The human city-states on land have been able to seal and even utilize multiple anomalies through a variety of tricky methods, and this being the Lost Country, there’s more we can do.”
Alice gave Duncan a quizzical look, realizing from the calm depth of the Captain’s gaze that it wasn’t a comforting blanket statement.
“You have a plan?”
Duncan thought for a moment, lifting his fingertips and lighting an ethereal flame.
“First, we may need a small fire.”
