Chapter 25: Communication is hard

Chapter 25 Communication is hard

Dove cocked his head, probably sensing that Duncan hadn’t heard him, and quickly repeated it again, louder than a moment before, “Aye!”

Duncan finally realized what the bird meant, “You mean, your name is Aey?”

The pigeon nodded proudly and paced around the desk, “Coo-coo!”

Duncan couldn’t help but rub his brow, always feeling that communicating with this bird was weirder than communicating with a goat’s head, and it was mostly weirder in the pigeon’s elusive style of speech, “Do you know how you were born? Or how …… you appeared here?”

The pigeon thought for a moment, and both eyes ethereally looked in different directions at the same time, “Oops, the page is gone, try refreshing it?”

Duncan: “……”

He found himself completely unable to comprehend what was going on in the bird’s head, and wasn’t even sure if all these sentences that popped out of it out of nowhere were connected to the topic at hand or not.

But again, he was absolutely certain that the bird was thinking, and was communicating with itself very …… seriously.

Only it obviously has its own understanding of “communication”.

Duncan and this self-proclaimed “Ai” pigeon talk a few words, the result is that their conversation has always maintained the frequency of parallel lines, basically is each talking about their own, to say that related to it, really can not see where the point of intersection, to say that unrelated to it, this pigeon will answer all the questions … … …and occasionally there were one or two sentences that appeared to answer Duncan’s questions.

The exchange didn’t make much progress in the end, and Duncan could only frown and mumble, “What’s this evil thing again ……”

He felt like it was probably going to be a long time before he could establish normal communication with this bird, a process that might even be more difficult than him getting used to the goathead’s raucousness.

For his part, the pigeon crouched on the table across from him, blinking its little eyes innocently and occasionally chanting requests for V it 50.

Duncan paid no attention to the bird’s chanting, but curled his fingers and rubbed them together gently, watching the green fire at his fingertips jump through the air; he was certain of at least one thing – that the brass compass, despite having fused with the pigeon in front of him, was still, in essence, a ” Abnormal Item”.

The green spiritual fire rose, the pigeon “Ai” feathers crevice also almost at the same time rose green flames, the hanging in its chest brass compass “snap” popped open, under the transparent glass shell, slightly illusory pointer is with Duncan’s will and gradually stabilized, depicting that Duncan’s “Ai” was a “Dual”. Will and gradually stabilized, depicting many mysterious symbols of the dial is also gradually filled with flames.

Aey, on the other hand, did not react much throughout the whole process, but just bathed in the spiritual fire quite naturally, as if waiting for Duncan’s order.

Before the brass compass was completely energized, Duncan voluntarily dispersed the flames.

During the test, Duncan was also summarizing silently in his mind:

“The compass still works …… just with an extra odd ‘medium’, for the time being, I can’t be sure what effect this pigeon will produce, perhaps some kind of assistance… …

“It is still unclear what the bottom of this compass is, it is best not to carry out a second ‘shuttle’ before making preparations …… The next test should always keep an eye on the compass and the pigeon to see what changes there are.

“There is a connection between the pigeon and me, and in the event that the fire of the spirit body is stimulated, this connection will become even more pronounced, and it is even possible to directly control to a certain extent what position the pigeon appears in …… But control can only go so far… …

“‘Aey’ clearly has a will of its own and will move as it sees fit, and not all orders given to it will necessarily be carried out, unlike the other ‘items’ on the Lost Country.

“Able to speak, has some thinking ability, and will judge problems independently …… Compared to ordinary anomalies, the nature of this pigeon seems to be closer to that of a goat’s head ……”

Duncan summarized some of the currently known intelligence in his mind, and in the end, his gaze finally landed on the obsidian knife.

A blade as dry and twisted as a finger, with a dark, reflective edge.

It was the same thing that the black-robed cleric who wore the golden sun mask and conducted the evil sacrifice rituals in the sewer coven had held, and judging by its use, it was a “ritual blade”.

Duncan arrived at the assembly hall that was suspected to be located underneath the “City State of Prand” by means of spiritual projection, and returned to the assembly hall by means of spiritual return. He had thought that this process should be completely on the spiritual or soul level, but now this ritual knife was really in front of him.

After a moment’s thought, Duncan reached out and took the knife.

The cool, hard touch was tangible; it was a real item.

Duncan released some more of his Spiritual Body Fire, allowing the flames to wrap around the blade, and judging by the hollow and void feedback, the transcendent power once contained in the ceremonial knife had indeed dissipated cleanly. Just as he had judged at the sacrifice site, this thing was not a real “abnormality”, but an extension of some kind of transcendent power, or a temporary item that was artificially “infused”.

Although Duncan is not sure what kind of system this world’s “anomalies” have, he guessed that this knife should not be considered a rare item, at least …… it looks like it was mass-produced.

“This is what you brought back?” He looked up to Aey, who was lounging on the table, and raised the obsidian knife in his hand, “And it’s specifically for me?”

The dove stared straight at Duncan with small red eyes, his whole body unmoving and unresponsive to questions.

Duncan: “……?”

He asks again, and the pigeon still doesn’t move at all, as if it had suddenly become a lifeless statue.

Suddenly appeared abnormal changes let Duncan frown slightly, but just as he was about to use the spirit body flame to stimulate Ai to see if he could force it to wake up, the bird again all of a sudden “alive”, it jumped in place two times, yelling: “Take this solar tomahawk, take this solar Tomahawk, take this …….”

“Okay, okay I get it, you don’t have to answer every question I just asked,” Duncan hurriedly waved his hand, forcing the pigeon to be quiet while organizing his words again, “So do you know how you brought this pocket knife here? Or that you can carry ‘physical objects’ for transportation, is that correct?”

The pigeon pondered for a moment and pecked down at Duncan’s finger, “Full price, piece by piece.”

Duncan: “I …… will just pretend to understand.”

He sighed, thinking that this was the limit of his communication with this bird.

He then stood up from his desk and looked in the direction of the chart room.

Goathead and Alice were still outside, and the eager and friendly exchange was still going on.

Ms. Doll hadn’t made a sound for a long time, and Goathead had just begun to talk about the seventeenth way to make kelp stew.

Duncan felt the need to go and get his only (and surprisingly the most normally drawn) crew member at the moment.

On the other hand, he’d been in his chambers for far too long, and had made some unusual noise in between, and he felt the need to go out and show his face to put the goat-head’s mind at ease.

Before leaving, though, he gave a hesitant glance at Aye, who was running around the table.

Should he take this pigeon out as well? What would be the explanation for taking it out?

Duncan hesitated for only two seconds before decisively grabbing the pigeon and placing it on his shoulder.

He was going to stay on the Lost Country for a long time, and this pigeon would surely follow him for a long time in the foreseeable future. At the moment, we still don’t know what kind of habits this bird has, but as an “abnormality” that has the ability to think and communicate, it would probably be hard for it to be hidden somewhere like a dead thing.

The ship has a “crew”, this is something that can not be hidden, and if it is hidden now, once exposed in the future, it will be a great damage to the image of “Captain Duncan”.

So he might as well take the pigeon out with a straight face and call it his new “trophy” – he didn’t need to explain anything to the goat-head, and the captain didn’t need to explain it to the first mate.

The first mate would make up his own mind.

As for the pigeon’s strange words that popped up from time to time (to the natives of this world, they must be incomprehensible words) …… there was no need to explain.

Just let Goathead and Alice figure it out on their own.

With the fat pigeon on his shoulder, Duncan got up and straightened his grooming posture, striding calmly in the direction of the chart room.

The pigeon proudly puffed out its chest, as if proclaiming, yelling, “Authentic good herbal tea Authentic good voice Welcome to …… by ……”
